This hopper is basically eliminating the burn vote if you think about it. Whoever gets even just one vote is at risk and can be chosen just by chance. I like this shakeup.
I hope that Cory can ally with the rookies and stay away from the vets because the vets have shown to betray him as soon as the numbers dwindle so he needs to ally with the rookies early in the game I really want Cory to finally win a season

I thought them picking Bananas so late was weird too but towards the end TJ mentioned that at each team had to have 2 vets (I think it was when he out Amanda on her team) so I think it was a strategic move by Josh. With Cory & Wes going earlier he knew he would get Bananas anyway so he started going after other prospects he wanted.
This was a very solid first episode. Yes, cliffhangers suck but the daily was great and seeing Jonna get messy and Michaela kinda take charge for Ameerah was perfect. I think we’re in for a really good season.
I'm pretty sure that once Wes was picked, Bananas could only go to Josh's team. So there was no reason for Josh to pick Bananas other than to stroke his ego.
TJ said that each team was getting 2 vets, but never specifically said it had to be 1 Man and 1 Woman It’s possible that the rule just meant any 2 Vets, and Desi was free to pick Bananas if she wanted. That being said, it’s also possible that it was 1 Man and 1 Woman they had to pick, but I guess we can only speculate unless a cast member says so

I was nervous that the producers could still somehow manipulate the hopper to do their bidding, but then I feel like there is no way they would have picked those team captains, so maybe it’s legit!
My early reaction is that the hopper will prevent the recent predictability of the main show as far as the vets always being safe. Looking forward to what’s to come! P.S. So glad to have these recaps back as well!
Wow! I was really impressed with Michaela's strength. The way she was running with the buggy, and also how she was carrying her part of the statue, was amazing.
It's been one episode and Paulie looks like he brought enough outfits to wear to about 15 different costume parties, then he realized there were no costume parties this season so he's just wearing them as everyday outfits. But it's Paulie, so you know those ARE the outfits he brought just to wear every day lol.
To be fair, Bananas had to go to Josh after Wes was picked. So it was smart in a way for Josh to not waste a pick on Johnny when the other two teams already had a male MTV vet on the squad.
Good start to the season, rooting for all Survivor players + Wes as always. I wouldnt mind Cory or Paulie getting their first win, anything but Bananas/Fessy/Tori...
The red team is strong the thing is that they are chaotic you got Tiffany Josh Paulie Michele and Bananas on the same team there will be a lot of fights on the red team
I liked the premiere the daily was good the one thing I didn't like about the premiere was the cliffhangers I wish that we saw who was going to be elimination and who they completing against

The hopper helps people play unpredictably so even if you get one vote you can get sent in elimination which I love and helps players vote big threats such as wes bananas and Tori in elimination
I really liked this first episode! I also thought it was paced well and we got a feel for mostly everyone. I’m sure you already know this Drew but each team could only pick 2 vets (1 male, 1 female) so once Cory and Wes were picked, Bananas had to go with Josh. So Josh was smart to use his next picks on the other available guys that were open to the other teams as well. Now why Cory was chosen first over Wes and Bananas baffles me lol.
I was excited for this season and while I'm still tuning in, I really hate that the amazing racers seem to be picked off first... such a shame. Seeing Paulie back and him bringing the energy reminds me of what we've missed in the past seasons LOL. Rooting for my ladies Michaela, Jonna and Desi. As for the men I'm rooting for my racers, Luis and Dusty although I'm not sure how long they'll last unfortunately... solid recap as always, let's get it!!
It was great that the production showed us how many votes people got. They could also show who actually voted for those players or at least for the person that gets eventually picked to go in.

I thought this was a decent premiere. Not a terrible episode, but it just needed a little extra something to make it great. I'm not sure what it needed, just more.
I'm hoping Johnny, tori amd fesal get out early. And possibly Josh. Although Josh doesn't bother me as much because he hasn't been in so many recent seasons.
I do think they did a poor job explaining the rules of picking players during the episode. Near the end, TJ mentions that each team gets 2 vets (presumably 1 guy and 1 girl), so once the first 2 vets are picked (Cory & Wes, and Jonna & Tori) it's a complete waste to pick either Bananas or Amanda, since they're already designated to their respective teams and are off limits to the other teams. They briefly imply these rules when they explain why Amanda is on a particular team, but I think it could have been much clearer in the edit.
I think this will be a 🔥 season. All the women are very beautiful and strong competitors in there own rights . And the guys are all strong competitors as well .

Personally I liked the premiere overall. I really like the cast, the team format ? I don't hate it but I don't love it either, we will see how it develops. The voting format? I love it, the anonymous voting is messy and everything I love. People are more likely to be bold and vote for who they really want to vote for. However, I'm also very skeptical about it because it has some flaws. Production can use it to rig the votes and protect some people while throwing others they don't really care about and I don't like that. They must be very transparent but I don't think they will. When they show the board with the people who got votes, they should then show us who every person voted for so we can make sure that those votes are accurate. Then I want to see TJ put every vote 1 by 1 in that rotating box, I didn't like the fact that they showed us the board then skipped to the rotating box with the votes already inside like how do we know that all the 4 votes against Bananas are actually inside? They could literally change the votes and put the names of whoever they want and we have no way to know about it. TJ should put every vote 1 by 1 while clearly showing us the names beforehand. I didn't like the fact that we didn't get to see the elimination but still a great premiere overall.
I love the hopper and the secret votes! I also LOVED everyone humbling Bananas a little with not being picked first for teams. I also hope the vets don’t run this season again. I hope big moves are made with no hesitation. I’m so excited for this season and your reviews!!!
I think the hopper could allow people to make big moves and I hope that Amerrah is safe and bananas goes in elimination and goes home if that happens that would be the best thing to happen
@@lawtraf8008Exactly! People don't like him but are hesitant to say his name out loud because he does actually have some pull still, at least early in the season when he has allies in the game. However, making the vote secret, makes him a target. He even said so himself that this twist didn't bode well for his game.
This hopper is very interesting because it definitely get a lot of people not to play a scared game overall. I also think that secret vote is definitely going to keep the competitors on there toes because they really don't know who voted for who overall it was a really good first episode.🤔
One thing I don't see anyone talking about...in the history of the challenge has there ever been a format where just one person goes home every week? That's the way they're making it sound so far,but I believe it's going to be a situation of get voted/hoppered in and then choose your teammate. I cant remember what season it was, but I know it's been done and adds another wild card element to this already wild setup
Actually a lot more excited to watch this season then I was before seeing this episode. Pauli still makes me cringe though. I really hope Makala can make it far this season. She seems to have really been working on herself, since she is so emotional usually. we will see. I think Josh will be Josh. Enough said. At least all the non Challenge champs for the most part have pretty good chops in their shows. My order of skill show wise is Challenge, Survivor, Big Brother, and then Amazing Race. Can't remember are there love island contestants? If so they would be last. I want to know where you can get one of those statues made. I know my family would love it of me in our yard here. lol. Would take a lot of material though.
Kinda slow premier, I understand why they showcase the vets. Make sure the CBS fans know them. Even tho us MTV fans already know these knuckleheads lol but they should have ended with a elimination, gotta get these CBS fans on board. Idk we will see what happens
I think Bananas was picked so far down because there had to be 2 vets per team. So since Wes and Cory were already picked, Bananas was already locked into the red team. So Josh picked guys that others would’ve picked like Paulie. The first challenge wouldn’t make sense if there wasn’t 2 vets per team.
I love the twist of picking your teams at the beginning of the season "Red Flags", The one thing I would of change regarding team captains is trade Josh or Cassidy with one of the Amazing race person to give them a little bit of a fighting chance. Another twist is secret nominations, so no one can hide anywhere or count on their alliance or even teams with a red flag voting in their own team member.
When I saw the promo pics of the teams I assumed it was random. The fact that Josh chose the worst team is hysterical, I was laughing so hard. Yes they didn't lost this one but it's only a matter of time before they all start arguing or Michele gets paranoid, so funny. I hope Bananas goes in to the first elimination.
I'M PISSED at the cliff hanger, but excited that we don't have to wait long to see what happens. i think on paper Josh's team seems like the team to beat, BUT Johnny can't carry the team on his back alone. Not to mention we saw how the women were just walkin without helpin on that team. It's gonna be a struggle for them. I'm rootin for Desi because my girl deserved better last time. And in the case that the teams finally split up in the end, I do want Cory to get his big win
The newbies think that just voting a vet in is enough, hey they gotta loose the elimination, so if the person in the bottom can’t beat the vet then why make an enemy
Corey makes the same mistakes every time he does The challenge he needs to stop trusting vet's all the time I don't know why he always protects the vets as soon as the vets get a chance he's going to be the first one going in to elimination he never learned from his past mistakes
I always loved the scrappiness of Michele and the fact that she's just a normal person who doesn't create drama like some desperate people *cough Amanda cough*

If I have to give MVP to someone in this episode I have to say Alyssa L because she didn't vote the way the vets wanted the vote to happen and she is smart I also give credit to Michaela cause I feel that she is trying to build an army to take out the vets which I love
This episode shows how bad of a strategist Jonae is I mean she made that move and was Sused out right away lol she should’ve acted normal but she showed her cards right away with sitting away from the team. Im starting to see why she doesn’t do well on the main challenge seasons lol

This hopper is very interesting because it definitely get a lot of people not to play a scared game overall. I also think that secret vote is definitely going to keep the competitors on there toes because they really don't know who voted for who overall it was a really good first episode.🤔
One thing I don't see anyone talking about...in the history of the challenge has there ever been a format where just one person goes home every week? That's the way they're making it sound so far,but I believe it's going to be a situation of get voted/hoppered in and then choose your teammate. I cant remember what season it was, but I know it's been done and adds another wild card element to this already wild setup

Actually a lot more excited to watch this season then I was before seeing this episode. Pauli still makes me cringe though. I really hope Makala can make it far this season. She seems to have really been working on herself, since she is so emotional usually. we will see. I think Josh will be Josh. Enough said. At least all the non Challenge champs for the most part have pretty good chops in their shows. My order of skill show wise is Challenge, Survivor, Big Brother, and then Amazing Race. Can't remember are there love island contestants? If so they would be last. I want to know where you can get one of those statues made. I know my family would love it of me in our yard here. lol. Would take a lot of material though.

Kinda slow premier, I understand why they showcase the vets. Make sure the CBS fans know them. Even tho us MTV fans already know these knuckleheads lol but they should have ended with a elimination, gotta get these CBS fans on board. Idk we will see what happens

I think Bananas was picked so far down because there had to be 2 vets per team. So since Wes and Cory were already picked, Bananas was already locked into the red team. So Josh picked guys that others would’ve picked like Paulie. The first challenge wouldn’t make sense if there wasn’t 2 vets per team.
Paulie as Ken was not on my challenge USA bingo card.
I love the twist of picking your teams at the beginning of the season "Red Flags", The one thing I would of change regarding team captains is trade Josh or Cassidy with one of the Amazing race person to give them a little bit of a fighting chance. Another twist is secret nominations, so no one can hide anywhere or count on their alliance or even teams with a red flag voting in their own team member.
Don't think the captains will retain power through the game.
I was expecting a better premiere but I guess that’s my fault.

When I saw the promo pics of the teams I assumed it was random. The fact that Josh chose the worst team is hysterical, I was laughing so hard. Yes they didn't lost this one but it's only a matter of time before they all start arguing or Michele gets paranoid, so funny. I hope Bananas goes in to the first elimination.
I'd trust Michelle over Jonna any day after this silly move and World Champs.

i think on paper Josh's team seems like the team to beat, BUT Johnny can't carry the team on his back alone. Not to mention we saw how the women were just walkin without helpin on that team. It's gonna be a struggle for them.

The newbies think that just voting a vet in is enough, hey they gotta loose the elimination, so if the person in the bottom can’t beat the vet then why make an enemy

Corey makes the same mistakes every time he does The challenge he needs to stop trusting vet's all the time I don't know why he always protects the vets as soon as the vets get a chance he's going to be the first one going in to elimination he never learned from his past mistakes
I always loved the scrappiness of Michele and the fact that she's just a normal person who doesn't create drama like some desperate people *cough Amanda cough*

If I have to give MVP to someone in this episode I have to say Alyssa L because she didn't vote the way the vets wanted the vote to happen and she is smart I also give credit to Michaela cause I feel that she is trying to build an army to take out the vets which I love
This episode shows how bad of a strategist Jonae is I mean she made that move and was Sused out right away lol she should’ve acted normal but she showed her cards right away with sitting away from the team. Im starting to see why she doesn’t do well on the main challenge seasons lol
