  • The Challenge has had many seasons but none surrounded in mystery like The Challenge season 14 The Inferno 3. Paramount Plus has the most The Challenge seasons in one place but the one season missing in the middle of the block of seasons they have is The Inferno 3. Why don't they have The Inferno 3? Is it really because of copyright issues? Or is there something else keeping it away from the public's eye?
    Hear my The Challenge theories on why I think MTV & The Challenge don't have The Inferno 3 available to on a streaming service not now OR EVER!!! As I think The Inferno 3 is The Challenge season MTV wants you to forget ever happened.

      It was the behavior he displayed during parts of his Real World Key West experience; that was the only time when he was nice to anyone, mainly Paula, though he would betray her after their Real World season, starting with The Island.

      Bananas wasn't the guy that he is today until The Island. His behavior on that season was so disgusting that there was no turning back at that point. He even tried to be a bit more humble on The Ruins, but his argument with Wes put him back in the villain role and he's been playing that card ever since.

    Susie is legitimately one of the meanest girls that has ever been on the show but for some reason she was always painted as the good girl. On The Ruins she played the victim when Darrell didn't do what she wanted and she fat-shamed Veronica by calling her "Chunks" in addition to leading this brigade against Tonya in Inferno 3. I find it hard to feel bad for Veronica, considering she made it a whole part of her personality to bully and slut shame Tonya, but I agree that Susie was not nearly as nice as she is remembered, same with Sarah tho, she’s remembered as one of the nice ones and she spent all of cutthroat belittling and co signing Laurels bullying of other players like Shauvon, Cara Maria, and Luke cuz she didn’t think they were good enough. In my opinion the reason they keep this season under wraps is because of the Kenny/Evan incident. Overall the cast behavior on this season is ridiculous and it's obvious that production completely failed at creating an environment that was safe for the cast (especially the women)... You can see how shit could escalate to Kenny sexually assaulting Tonya and thinking it was funny or no big deal, when you have seasons where so much bullying and sexual harassment was tolerated and treated as entertaining drama for the show. To be honest it's disappointing that Johnny was allowed to continue and be really the face of the franchise for years. He seemed to be a ringleader for harassing the women in his early seasons.

    • @Meodread
      @Meodread 2 года назад +13

      While you are probably right in spirit, this was a time in the challenge where the behavior towards women sucked full stop. Both from men and women. However the Tonya assault did occur later (the Ruins) and ironically Inferno 3 was a "good" look for Kenny just because by contrast to Johnny, Ace, Danny and CT he comes off well. But I don't think the assault is the specific reason this season is in the scrap heap.

    • @jessicathompson6403
      @jessicathompson6403 2 года назад +11

      @Brent Wolgamott well no, I realize it didn't happen during this season. I'm just saying the way they chose to edit this season compared to others you can REALLY see the shitty behavior more so than the other seasons. When you watch the Ruins and you watch Inferno 3, if you didn't know anything about things that happened outside of what was on screen, the environment in Inferno 3 looks more toxic bc they aired so much footage of fights/bullying/harassment. I'm sure it was happening just as bad or worse (obviously worse in Tonya's case) on other seasons, but less of it was included in the episodes so a casual viewer wouldn't view those seasons as being as bad.

      I think the Timmy injury notes were mostly edited out of original airing (I don't recall it from that time and follow up viewings make it fairly tame, it's still slightly BS just because the reason he lost was a flaw in the challenge but we have seen that before and since without a season getting thrown in the bin) so I tend to think the thick layer of toxicity of this season (along with events around it such as Tonya's assault on the Ruins, CT assault Adam on Duel II, etc) has lead to this being consigned to a shadowy closet.

    The times have changed, and MTV has too. We were wild, free, and with zero f&cks given! The level of disrespect was acceptable, and this season proved it. It was the tipping point of a group of disgust, and today's MTV can't find any reason to keep it. All your points Drew, were valid. They were definitely hiding certain scenes, and I wouldn't be surprised if someone from the production is best or good friends with some of the guys in the house and was trying to "protect" them somehow. In the original broadcast, MTV queues up Britney’s latest record Slumber Party ft. Tinashe but in the Paramount+ episode the music was replaced by some generic/royalty free background sound. No Britney. They have the means and ability to change scenes and remove audio if needed.

    As a historian, it sucks to see people manipulate the past. I think all of the seasons as they were shown should be available for those who chose to see it, especially for research. Erasing/forgetting the past helps no one. While I agree they shouldn't make money off of toxic traits of that season. It is very interesting to see what entertainment was contrived of not so long ago, and how society has changed over time. I think a whole seminar paper on American culture could be written from a perspective of reality TV consumption. Incredibly interesting.

Something I would like to point out for you is back during the early days of the challenge they had unlimited access to alcohol. It was until later seasons they started limiting them on how much they could have. I think that was a big problem back then with everyone practically drunk. While Paramount Plus doesn’t have that first episode of Duel II, they actually have shown it on Pluto TV. That episode has that costume party and Isaac uses blackface in his costume. Now, we know Emily did the same thing in Exes I, and that hasn’t been hidden, but it was addressed as a problem. The Duel II blackface scene is played off on the episode is normal and fun. That would be a much greater reason for MTV to hide it than the fight (though I imagine they don’t mind not having the CT/Adam fight easily available as well).

They way they allowed the other women to treat Tonya through the seasons may have lead to people like Kenny and Evan thinking what they did to her was no big deal. Production has been so scummy and shady over the years that this most likely their version of deleting old, incriminating tweets

    The truth of the matter is, this show went with the trash TV model for a while. This season was in 2007, you know what took reality TV by storm in 2006? I'll tell you... Bad Girls Club. It is what it is there is no reason to pretend it didn't happen. And yes people watched and enjoyed the show. If the show went back to less athletic people drinking excessive, fighting, being assholes, sex, and authentic chaos it would be a hit.
    I think we also as a society like to pretend if it happened on camera people don't change. I had a roomate/friend who slept around in college. She ran through north of 100 dudes in a couple years. That was 05-09. She now is a Mennonite or close. She wears dresses all the time, has the long hair that gets tied up. She bakes and churns her own butter. She loves her kids and is generally a good person. She was a teacher so she now stays home and teaches online. She doesn't even resemble the 20 year old who was drunk 4 or 5 times a week and sleeping around.
    These shows especially the Real World started as a social experiment and an opportunity to show all different people interacting. All their interactions, good, bad, and ugly. Abram was a racist who said he didn't think people should have interracial relationships. I'm pretty sure 20+ years later he is married to a black woman. I think these shows should be shown as they aired. Maybe people learn from them, maybe not. Trying to hide them dose not change the past.

      Ace was not on the main cast of AS 3. The people who were on the main cast of AS 3 and committed sexual assault were Veronica and Nia. Veronica was brought back on the main show for a season after being gone for awhile and then for AS 3. Yet she committed sexual assault against Tonya by taking a picture of her naked without her consent and then distributing the photograph to the cast and crew and Rachel did the same thing. Which by the way, is two crimes that were committed right there. Nia sexually assaulted Jordan on camera by touching him in his groin without his consent. Yet, she was brought back.
      What the casting people for AS showed is that two people who committed sexual assault ( Veronica and Nia) and a person who attempted sexual assault (Ace) was allowed on the show over OGs on the show who never engaged in sexual assault.
      Casting people need to do a better job and not have cast members who have in the past committed sexual assault if they want to send a message sexual assault is not allowed and don't condone such vile actions.
      What it's looking like is that Tonya was indeed raped by Kenny and Evan and MTV didn't stop it, since they have Inferno 3 editing be all choppy and not show certain situations on camera as well as having sexual assaulters be casted on AS3 on the main cast.

    I hear your points and they make sense, but Inferno 2, Gauntlet 3 and The Ruins was also full of bullying, sexism, and violence.
    The main reason I think it was removed was probably because of the Tonya/Kenny situation. This is the only season Kenny and Tonya both make it to the end, making it a prime candidate where they settled to remove this season completely in order to remove any scenes with them associating. I did recently rewatch this season and it's full of scenes that I'm surprised actually aired, considering they are hateful, sexist and full of bullying. But I feel like it still wouldn't be enough to remove it. The Tonya/Kenny connection thing is my biggest suspect.
