I bought 6 xbox 360s at a thrift store that were broken for 30 bucks. They are the same model as your xbox 360. But the 360s really aren’t all that broken but they are so dirty that you might’ve thought they were buried and then dug up again years later.

I've only watched fifteen minutes so far but the word that keeps rolling round my brain is vacuum cleaner instead of a brush, which will simply redistribute it, mostly into the air you're trying to breath.
A vaccum with a HEPA filter and brush on the end of the pipe would be ultimate, however, we use what we have to hand :)
The trouble with a vacuum cleaner is that they can generate a huge amount of static charge, so be careful with those.
My cleaner is likely to filter the dust into fine particles I can breathe deep into my lungs.
I cleaned mine this week, the amount of dust that clogged the fan and the vents was crazy.
Yeah, I'm going to clean my XBOX 360 Elite next weekend. I'm curious how dusty mine is. lmao
@@bryanWWEfan I just washed mine with water, then a recommend you leaving it on the sun or put in the oven on the lowest temp, it will be dry pretty fast.

@@PleaseDontMindmyDisplayName Yeah mine smelled like rosted computer board after i took it out of the oven, but it works fine, its a risky technique.
A tip, if you have an older 360 that is prone to RROD (2005 - early 2007 DOM) you can actually take the heatsinks from a later model that had heat pipes for the GPU (2008 DOM) like is seen in this video and put them on your older one just fine. Then put some really high quality thermal paste on. I recommend Corsair XTM70 for the 360 as it has one of the best heat transfer rates per volt. This will prolong its life. I will say, I do not use nearly as much paste as you haha. I put a grain of rice sized squirt in the center and then put a heat sink on top., it spreads it out when you compress it.
I love cleaning up dirty consoles so I enjoyed this. I've never blown a console though.

Perfect timing, I primarily use an Xbox One but I do have a 360 that I use on occasion in the bedroom, I turned it on yesterday and the noise of the fans was horrendous, it's the Elite version but I can't imagine that the procedure would be dissimilar

I cleaned out my 360 e yesterday and it was filthy I also repasted the xgcpu I suddenly decided to clean it out because it showed a red light while I was listening to music but it's resurrected itself immediately after.

You can replace the HDD with another 2.5" HDD.
Not sure how big you can go but a 500Gb works.
You will need a transfer cable to move all your saves and system info onto it.

There is also a special tool for opening the cases. It's Cheap! and stops you breaking the clips.
I'm fed up of having cupboards full of the games, I'd love a backup solution into a huge HDD
Yes you can install the whole system to USB if you want to, the xbox reserves half a gig for the os. After seeing your video, i think I'll go through mine again lol. My ps3 was filthy when I got that, but they come apart so easily it's like they wanted you to open it. And yes, it was razzle, I just remember his older brother growing the magic mushrooms😂

I have an Mk1 xbox 360 that went RROD, I fixed it once but it failed 12 months later, can't be bothered to pull it apart again and fix it.

You can toss the fan in your dishwasher on the slim model.
How does it avoid getting it's electronics drowned?
It's a lot easier to open if you get a XBOX 360 opening tool. Yeap, it's a real thing! I bought my 360 from the same place you got yours by the look of it, as "Broken". The DVD drive wouldn't load up. I happened to already have a 360 tool, because I'd bought a console opening tool kit, years ago. Opened up the 360, and had it all working in less than 20 mins. :)

Would of opted for a hoover, air duster and soft brush, plus I also would have checked out another RUclips video on how to open it properly, but hey perhaps I have a but more care and respect for my consoles, and don't want to risk damaging them
The fan still spin in,and the clean is done. The 're HHD video, and Halo two,and gears stories mk armagdon, the Legend TR.,and Quake4 ,and unreal tournament. The will360xbox.
I just wash the case and dry overnight.Less dust

backofficeshow yeah I saw a lot of other videos but finally when I choose to really started to do this actually this video was the best and most accurate to fix my 13 year old none hmdi xbox to get the cold paste through the processers! And now the super noisy vent wents like a charm 😊 thx alot !!!! I didn't know if I could do that to be honest 😂

I found two 360' and I broke em down and showered in them in hot water in the tub. I then blow dried them all day..I reassembled them. Voila..they are still working today..
AS long as you can get all the water out from under the surface mount ICs they should be fine. I wouldnt recommend it without a final bath in IPA to really wick out all the last moisture before drying.
Those two cross shaped brackets - the cause of the RRoD.

Apparently they're just put on too tight. When the GPU and CPU heat up the solder softens and the BGAs can slip off their pads. With the newer 360s Microsoft must have reworked them.

I've got a couple of xbox 360s and a ps3, you can pick up a 120GB hard drive for about a tenner now. I haven't found anything on the latest generation to warrant the upgrade lol

Yes, you can do that. I would suggest using it for your saves and stuff like that, and keeping the small hard drive for the xbox os. I have a couple of HD DVD drives too, and about a hundred films on HD DVD. I'm not a barbarian though, I have blu ray too, but you can't usually pick up blu rays for 50p lol. I'm really enjoying this episode, I bought an XBOX 360 tool kit with a tool to unclip all the back clips at the same time

The Backoffice Yeah, I could see that... What was funny was seeing your reaction to the detritus inside the Xbox, I can say now, that that was a good one, some of the ones I repaired were so bad, they were full to the brim of dust and hair and in one case loads of dead flies.

I'm a electronics guy... If you add oily stuff to your pcb the dust will love to stick on that and next time you will open it you will get a MUDDY surprise... just a pointer. Use isopropilic alcoohol or vodka :) sorry for my English

I took apart my First gen 360 for the first time since it was new in 2006. It had virtually no dust in it. Your home must be extremely dusty.
