This is easily the most informative video I’ve seen on any console disassembley
Thanks Lance
Fun fact if that fan don't spin up when you plug it in. It's either you're power supply is bad or not getting a connection to your mother board.
Mine spins up and the Xbox turns on but it beeps and shuts of a minute later and it doesn’t connect to the tv I thought it was the hdmi cord at first but I switched them and it did the same thing is this still the power supply or is this something else
I haven’t tooken it apart yet because I don’t wanna fuck it up and I don’t know exactly what’s wrong with it
Mine doesnt spin
@@bandit3338 if you xbox is turning on and then turns off after like 30 seconds and shows no display, then it's most definitely your hard disk. Same thing happened with me.
@@Bigbunda961 yea probably I jus sold it to GameStop and got a one s from online so far this one s has served me good
TYSM!!! With the One S fully discontinued and Microsoft dropping the ball on the New Gen X console stocking we thought for sure we would be out hundreds of dollars extra to get a used one and cross our fingers it lasted. This tutorial was excellent and we are now back up and running!
Thanks for not assuming all of us know everything about chips, multi meters, ect. I just purchased a one S consol that doesn't power on now I feel a little more confident going in.
Thank you finally someone that knows what there doing
Well done! His explanation on what the parts are and do are perfect. Thank you!
Great video, very experienced and thorough.
Great tutorial, tiny little bugger but this was just what I needed to get my XBox one S running again. ended up being the center mosfet on mine.
Damn I think there doing this so we buy the new console.
Excellent video i have seen so many of this videos and this is by far the best explanation 👏
Fantastic video! Very informative. Thanks so much. Now time to try and bring this console back to life!
Thanks Geoffrey - good luck, and please let us know if we can give you any more tips
I'm an IT technician, but I've been afraid of board repair. Not any more! This was super helpful.
Thanks Collin
Does anyone know what could make ALL the capacitors in the power phases go bad?
@@collinwinnail Hi Collin - are they all bad, or are they all shorting to ground? It could be one of them that is bad that is pulling the rest of them down, or most likely it is one of the mosfets that is bad and shorting the whole power phase to ground
good job..very clean work !
Thank so Much, with your help i fixed it... The Power supply was the problem!
Great news! Well done Serge
Excellent , i enjoyed the video as you are a hell of an engineer , nice presnting with detailed procedure, good job

Thank you for making this video. Thanks to you I was able to diagnose and repair my son's Xbox one S. 😄😀
Thanks Jerry - great news you got your son's xbox working again
I would be way too nervous to do this myself but it's super informative.
Thanks Anthony
fault. is this a fault you've cone across before? Brilliant video by the way! Best o ever I've seen! And I e watched a lit trying to work out my xbox problem!
Just watched it🤦♂️ I learned a lot from this Video! Thank you for this !!!
Man this video was.great u helped.le.finally fix this xbox I had sitting.for months
Wow. Much easier than I thought it would be
Great advice. One of the best videos.
Thanks JJ
cheers uso 🍻 great video. it taught me a lot 🤙🏽
as an alternative to test if RF board is the problem you could just attempt to put CD into the drive, this would give you on the spot indication
Thanks for all the help and all but I don’t know how to fix it even with the tutorial
Help please.
Console won't turn on.
It makes startup noise. Xbox light stays on for a about 15 seconds. Then goes off.
No signal sent down through to TV.
When attempted turn on using controller, the pad just flashes like its not synced.
What do you think needs changing? Is it fixable?
Following mine is doing the same thing
Same here
Usually, when the Xbox stays on for around 15 seconds, this could mean you have a faulty Hard Drive - can you hear the hard drive powering up?
Me to going through same thing power on 10 seconds and turns off what can I do maybe it fan not turning on
@@aubreynembhard6851 Another youtube technician told me it could be the Hdmi ic retimer chip. He made a few videos fixing that and reached out to me on reddit and told me that it could be a 50/50 chance and it was worth trying. The retimer chip is usually replaced when someone has a problem with the display but he says it can also cause the no power issue we are having. I tested the Hard disk and it's perfect, I also tested the power supply and that is fine too. I did all the obvious checks like switching the cable and trying a different outlet. So if it's none of those things I listed than you should definitely give it a try. I just ordered the retimer chip and it should be here in a few weeks. You can look up videos youtube if you need any help on checking the power supply etc.
Brilliant thorough video thanks for posting.
Thanks Richard

Great video, what is the part number of the MOSFET and where did you order it from?
Hi console therapy . The 3 mosfits you changed where do you get the chip from could you help me
i personally tin the pads and ground plate before attaching a new one it makes sure solid connection at all times
Nice tip Philip
Hey man, thanks so much! I am decent with electronics but wanted an in depth tutorial with how to and troubleshooting. I know now that my hard drive is bad (as I suspected it might be). Luckily I have an SSD already and will use an adapter, load the OS and be rolling tomorrow hopefully!
No problem Jarod, happy to help
How much is it to replace power supply?
@@tebogomorea242 sry for late reply but here in the UK you can get them refurbished for £20 - £40
Nice Video
If the mosfets are good and giving a number reading(and no beep in continuous mode), what would be the next areas to check? Power supply is good ,power connection and mosfets are all good. Thank you
Nice information bro but can you do a video showing your parts list and where can I buy them.
i only have an analog multimeter, do you think you can help guide me with the readings for dc and continuity
And this is going into a brand new playlist for emergencies
How can I test the power board, I don’t have a spare like you guys
So I'm definitely getting a short on the power supply. I've moved on to check the MOSFETS and they all read fine. Where should I check next if the problems isn't the MOSFETS?

Always red to ground for diode yea ? Got a GoW one s giving to me awhile ago and i only just opened it up today, found liquid damage to U9E1 wise clean , any chance you know the part number for U9E1/2? guessing they are gate drivers but not sure where to look other then buying some donor boards
Good info
I only hope all places that service xboxes are as talented as you are.
Genius!!! I open my Xbox to replace the disc drive and now my Xbox has no power. I think it could be this. I don’t want to remove the heat sink. I don’t have the funds for tools and supplies.
I am testing the same thing on a regular xbox one motherboard, all the mosfets are apparently okay, but when I test voltage the mosfets are only receiving/outputting 0.2V!
Any clues what the problem might be?
Could my Xbox one x have this same issue even though it doesn’t have a internal power supply? Would it be easy to identify the mosfets? Would they be in the same spots as the Xbox one s?
really good video,
do you have a link to the mosfets please
what heat gun are you using?
Very nice job very nice and clean thank you
Can you recommend someone to fix my xbox one s within the US... It turns on and then off without any image into the tv.
Do you have a link or a store where we can buy the tools you have ?
How do I test the mosfets for shorts with a cheap multimeter with no beep/sound? It don't give read but sometimes a random number shows and desappear back do 1...
Ty for the video!
Quick question I checked my mother boards had short to ground init and checked all the mosfets were showing bad changed all mosfets and now it doesn't show short to ground but when I plug in my power cord the fan does turn id say 1/8 of a turn or so it wasn't doing that before but still will now power on? What should I check next
Hi, big man , I really like your video , it helpful , please what the name of that small part you replaced ?
My xbox one s dead! 😔 That turn on sound was so satisfying
Please help me when taking the power supply out the video I was watching didn't tell me to pull on the tab in result I can now see the pins it connects to can I put it back on ?
This video makes me want to buy broken consoles and try to fix them!!!🤣👌💪 Id suggest putting links for tools used and generate revenue for the channel. 👌Great GREAT JOB
yeah same to me
Thanks for the video very informative. Do you mind give a list from start to finish of what you used for this video if possible please.
Hi Vincent - The video shows various tools that I have as well as the components used, so you will need the tools as well as the components:
Tools:
A multimeter to measure the components - something like this one - amzn.to/3om3bTr
A soldering iron and heat gun to remove/install the components - this is a good beginners option amzn.to/3w6UsqU
Other Items & Components:
Leaded solder - amzn.to/3uSp4MI
Solder Wick - amzn.to/3eN4Nm6and
The mosfet IC itself is a TPN8R903NL (you will need to search for this local to you)
@@ConsoleTherapy Is the mosfet the same for US consoles?
@@larrywalewski2934 HI Larry - yes, same mosfet for US (and all other countries)
So I’m pretty sure I’m getting a power issue on my Xbox one s all digital after it was dropped. My question is, how tough are the hard drives? Could it have scratched the disk from the shock as the console was on but in the standby mode? Trying to narrow things down. Any insight would be appreciated!
Do you have a link to the mosfets used? Would like to buy a few
Sure - they are available at Mouser - www.mouser.co.uk/ProductDetail/Toshiba/TPH8R903NLLQ?qs=VTTrqTQApGMVd9OS9YOJDg%3D%3D
Hii I changed my power box still no power u think I should change the front Power board or is it in the Xbox it self the
Do you have a video for the same issue but there is no ground short? Everything I have seen ends up showing a short but mine doesn't have one.
Did you ever figure this out I’m having the same problem?
am a beginner, what is the liquid & kinda paste name to detached the chip and the one for the fan when you installed it back??
thank you for this video, you're so passion
Whats used in the video is something called Flux which is used when soldering basically a cleaning agent and helps with bonding due to cutting out oxidation, isoprophyl alcohol for cleaning again, and the paste applied between the cpu and heatsink is a thermal paste you can get in any electronics store
Hi, It is a great video. I tried doing the same thing but ended up putting in a lot of solder. I am unable to remove the excess solder using Rosin flux & Desoldering Braid am I using the right material to remove the excess solder?
You could always use a heat gun and clean it up.
Yes, just make sure you have the soldering iron hot enough to heat the braid and solder
Can you plz help me too coz my power supply I'll think is very bad at all coz when i put power cord on it feel like nothing happened with it 😢
hey I'm a bit confused right now because a minute ago my Xbox would only turn on for 5 seconds before turning off again but now it has fixed itself so i was wondering why it might have done this and if there is a way to stop it from happening again.
Great video, very professional and inspirating. My xbox turns on and after 5 secs off, while the fan spins for about 2 secs. I opened it today, checked the power supply and it makes a lil noise when I connect it to the electricity. I'll check it tomorrow with a multimeter. Can the power supply be repaired? I got only a solder iron, no other tools. 🤣🤣
They can be repaired, but be very careful.. they have 240v inside!! ;-) Also, check if your hard drive is working correctly... it could be a faulty hard drive stopping it from powering on
@@ConsoleTherapy thank you so much. I measured the voltage an it was 11,9V in all 3 exits of the power supply. I think it's definitely the harddisc that got problems.
My power supply input was reading the same numbers across all 3, and the mosfets were also reading the same numbers across all 3. My IPS was reading 12v across all 3 as well. Not sure were the problem is occurring, but I'd love to get it fixed, so if there's anything else I could check please let me know what I'm missing!!
Hi Brenden - what is actually happening with the Xbox? Is there no power at all when you press the button, or does it power on then off again?
I hope this helps
Hope you can give me some tips, the tutorial so far is awsome kuddos, but what happend if my 3 MOSFET dont give me reading only BEEPING? any other test i can do to make sure the Board is not the problem?
If three of them giving beeping well three of them bad 🙈 did you check the power supply?
can you send a link to the site where you can buy a new mosfet ?

8:41 hi, i just want to ask, my multimeter showed me 11.99 is it good or bad? it is switching between 11.99 and 12, im holding it strong and still
11.99v is fine (the leads on your multimeter will take some of the current)
I just finished putting mine back together and it won't turn on. I used a toothbrush to clear the dust but I don't think that would effect anything. If you have any ideas or solutions I'm open to hearing. Now stuck with a xbox that won't turn on
I am having I guess the same problem with mine it just started today I turn the system on play a game for a minute and my system shuts off . My question is can you fix it or is it worth to spend the money or just go get a new one how long is the process takes if you were to fix it where are you from am I ever going to get a message back thank you I really enjoyed the video you seem very knowledgeable and know what you're doing

how did you get knowledge in this?
You are the mcgyver of Xbox ones, I have never seen such a detailed tutorial with a Xbox.... you should work for NASA
Thank you. I suspected my power supply was toast. Removed and tested as you showed and it was dead. I ordered a new one. Hopefully that is all. We got hit with a power surge from lightning.
Was it the actual console or just the power supply? And is it working now

So I replaced the same chip, the short seemed to be gone then I turned it on and it shut off and the short is back, any ideas?
Great video!
My console has the exact same issue, but in my case no one of the power channels are shorted to ground.
I also tested the mosfets, but they seem to be fine as well.
As I said, the console does not power at all, no noises or something like that.
The power button and power supply seems to be good as well, so I don't really know how to keep fault finding it.
Do you have any idea of what could be the cause?
I just found that all of the capacitors under the APU are shorted :(
I think this makes clear that the problem is the APU, right?
?
What do you think I could do my Xbox one s just suddenly stopped running it won't turn on what do you think I should do first 🤔
I just did hair dryer to the fan and vents like people suggested and my Xbox 1 s immediately turned on.
did it Worked till now ?
Yeah did it?
What mosfet did you replace it with? I can't find any exactly the same for mine.
