- The Xbox One game console is a fairly reliable but just like the PS4 it does have it's problems. Here are the top 5 problems with the Xbox One:
1) Disc drive issues. This is by far the most common problem with this console. Both faulty lasers and mechanical problems with the drive are some of the most common items that cause problems.
2) Turning on then off/Not turning on at all. Many Xbox's had faulty power bricks, but some also have had faulty Southbridge chips and/or faulty components on the power rail that cause them to not turn on at all or turn on then back off.
3) HDMI ports. While not as big of a problem as with the PS4 consoles Xbox One's definitely have had some problems with bad HDMI ports. This has been an issue so far with the Xbox One S consoles as well.
4) Hard drives. Hard drive problems seem to be more common with the Xbox One than with the PS4. These problems are also not limited to the Xbox One but are also found on the Xbox One S.
5) Bug infestation. Many of these consoles get infested with cockroaches. It seems to be less common with Xbox's than with PS4's but it definitely still happens.

I would love to see a full video about the turning off and back on issue. I’ve noticed in 2-3 videos over the last year where you say you’ll have to make a longer video in the future about this issue because it requires more diagnostics and would take time. Although you talk about it a few times here and there, which helps a little, I don’t think you’ve made one yet. And for some reason no other channel has covered this issue, that I can find.. Love your content either way, it’s so much appreciated 😌 Also, if you read this by chance and remember, do you have any videos up repairing circuit traces?

I got the version with no Kinect 3 years ago ans IT was still rocking but the HDMI port was becoming loose and 1 and à half year ago i got the xbox one s Deep Blue edition ans i still Play 6-8 hours à day on it :)

Creedo 1999 easy fix bro! Don’t buy a new xbox. You could replace the capacitor that is over cooked for about 5 dollars and a tutorial. Or replace the entire power brick. Don’t buy a new xbox!!!

Thank you for your video super helpful and understanding. But I have a question. My Xbox one tells me there’s a problem with the console update. Then it says you need this update to use your Xbox but when I try to update it just says try again with an error code: 0x8B05000B6 0x00000000 0x00000201 . Would this be a hard drive problem?

Any time I try to install a game from the store or update a game, it says “install stopped.” I’ve tried unplugging. I’ve done a factory reset. I’ve reformatted the external hard drive. It usually fixes it for a day or 2 and then it messes up again. Any thoughts? EDIT: it was the external hard drive. I replaced it and all is well again.
Don't download anything other than games. Take off HBO max an Netflix an anything that has a password. It worked for me
That troubleshooting is because you need to do a full on reset hold the Xbox home button for 10 seconds unplug it and turn it back on in 30 seconds once you plugged it back in

It doesn't have to be 30 secs exactly, it could be an hour later and still get the desired effect?
Does the Xbox still boot to recovery mode without HDD?
Have a xbox one s, which doesnt turn on, have tested the PSU and the Mosfets on the 3 power phases lines and they are all giving correct readings, what should i test next?

Thank you for the advice i was just gonna sell my Xbox 360 for an Xbox One today and i just wanted to find out what problems I'll have to deal with before buying one.
So I fixed the gears grinding and disc not going all the way in, but now my laser seems as it’s stuck a good bit and doesn’t read disc. Is there a quick fix for that?
I think my wireless card went out and from what I've read up on and heard it's basically the chip is fried I have an Xbox one s that keeps telling me the DNS servers are not matching and stuff like that and I've only had it for 4 months

Is it bad to unplug the power cord from the wall socket AFTER you've powered the console off but the fan is still running?

My Xbox One Wi-Fi won't work. Can I just swap the Wi-Fi board, or is it inbuilt in the Motherboard?
It's swappable
It's the chip on top of the metal shroud when you take it apart iirc. One or 2 screws holding it in with an antenna going to it. You'll have to plug the antenna in to where it goes on the chip. It's been a while since i've taken one apart, but i'm pretty sure that's where it was at.
Just try à hard reset first hold the Power button while the console is on and Wait till it shuts off and Turn it back on and try wifi

I've had my Xbox one for 4 years and I haven't had a problem until now. My Xbox will turn off every 2 hours when playing and I think it might be the fan because I don't hear it so I'm just assuming that it not cooling down the system. I've read something online saying that the Xbox one has a safety feature for over heating that the console will turn off by itself once it reaches a certain temperature. I can turn it back on buy it does turn off by itself again the next 2 hours. It I want to turn it back on I will have to wait an hour or else it will turn off around 10 minutes

Hi, hopefully you see this and help me out. My Xbox One S turns on and on the initial update it gets all the way to 72 percent and when it gets to applying the update it turns off on me, I really want to fix it myself but idk what the problem can be
hard drive ik its a year late but its most likely the hard drive i had this issue before you need to replace internal hard drive

Are they? Look at the failure rate of the xbox 360 and PS3, I'd say it's much higher compared to current consoles. The one's designed quite good I'd say, especially the cooling.

noone was here I got the original Xbox one got raged one day when playing gears smashed my Xbox with my guitar a few times and it still worked. spilled water on it before smashing it and it worked fine after a couple days once everything dried up lol

I have an old black one that was purchased right after the launch. Almost 1.5 years ago it stopped turning on all of a sudden and i could get it to turn on by plugging the power cable half way in and moving it back and forth while pressing the power button repeatedly. When you plug it normally it goes orange/white/orange/white/orange/white then after the 3rd white it goes to orange and stays like that. I haven't touched it since last year cause i gave up after purchasing a replacement power supply from MS and it doing nothing different about it. Is there anything i can do to fix it ?
i have a xbox one s and it powers on the off right away. but when i had it sitting in the metal shell with no screws in it. it worked fine. put it back together and power on and off again. i tested a known good power supply and new thermal paste. also cleaned the board with IPA 91%. seems as if the screws are pulling the mother board to the metal shell causing a short. what are your thoughts? i also thought about putting rubber/foam pads to keep the board away from the metal shell.
I've never had a problem with my Xbox One. I have a Launch model. However I do have to admit I rarely use any kind of discs
Had my Xbox one for one year and it's been nothing but issue after issue forget about getting a Xbox one s or Xbox one x never buying one again always seem to happen when warranty runs out😠
CHEEKS 401 If you consider getting a PS4 I wouldn’t, I recently switched to Xbox, both of my ps4 overheated, I did some research and found out that ps4 is known to overheat, I don’t know why they built it like that
I've my 360 still works fine lmao. But my Xbox one is release day gen 1, so I'd say it's had a commendable life span.

Have had mine since 2013 only things to ever go wrong are disc drive and power brick... brick is 30 bucks and upgraded disc drive is 40 for 70 dollars you can have one last over 5 years

Is there a chip difference in the motherboards between a regular XboxONE and a HALO5EditionXboxONE??? Repair shop i just took my H5 edition console too for an HDMI port problem is now saying they've found a chip missing on the motherboard??? Trying to make sure I'm not being screwed over.
My Xbox one S 500GB Battlefield 1 bundle just started to have a power on issue. My Xbox light comes on and makes the turn on sound but then the light dims and doesn't do anything else. No HDMI output, momentary controller connection then it starts blinking. My system is just over a year old. What causes this type of problem is it the HDMI port issue?

I don't think I've ever seen a failed hard drive cause it to shut down. It's more likely a problem on the motherboard....maybe a problem on the power rail somewhere or even possibly the Southbridge chip.
Did you ever get this figured out? I have an xbox one s, ive replaced the internal power supply x2 and it still shuts off .5 secs after it is turned on
@@Tronicsfix my Xbox one is definitely slow. About 8-10 mins into a match it starts to glitch. No probs w my internet speed or connection. I’m thinking it may be getting hot. If I leave it unplugged I can get about a match and a half before it starts to glitch or seems slow. Where are you located?
Yes I have a Xbox one original and a Xbox one s. On the one s I get an error 102 I’ve tried resetting and usb offline update but it’s still grey’d out when I plug in the usb. Even called Microsoft to double check everything for 2hours. So my question is can I take the hard drive from my original xbox one and replace it into my xbox one s?

I had that problem. I did a power cycle on mine and it works fine now. This happened less than 1 month of buying mine. Look up how to power cycle it, Xbox Tech helped me with it. Also sometimes if you replace the circuit board that has the power button sensor on it that should fix it too

I had an issue with my discs ejecting. I started playing digital games exclusively and forgot my disc drive wouldn’t eject, but it works perfectly fine now.
what if you unplug it for ten secs then plug it back in, right in the midst of that cut it on. i did this when my x1 first shut off and it worked perfect for a week now running to problems again. my glitch wont work i just left it unplugged

Finally someone who knows what he is talking about. There is so much rubbish on RUclips regarding what the issues are and how to fix them. Some guys give all these step by step guidelines on what to switch off when and when to switch it back on, that you feel like a time traveller who arrived in the Dark Ages. It is all technology and the failure of connections or components. Good video, thumbs up.
It also depends on how long and often and how hard you used it.
im having the fourth problem, started trying to install a game, says installation stopped and with some games was frozen, and I had to do the reset, but the reset is no longer installed, do you think replacing the hard drive will work??

Billy.Cox TX look into how expensive ssd's are. Then look into how big your average console game is nowadays. You'll find your answer why it's not feasible to use ssd's in 2017

My Xbox one x when turned on then turn off instantly (approx 2sec.) just replaced with a new HDD with no luck, still the same issue. Power to USB works correctly as it’s charging my elite controller. Not sure what to look for next to solve this issue. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, my sons Xbox one s kinda makes the turn on sound but the led doesn’t light up and there’s no picture. If you keep pressing the power button you sometimes get the turn off sound or something similar.

My Xbox has a powering up issue. It starts to make the powering up sound but it's like a cha sound instead of the full powering up sound. Could it be the power brick causing this or the HDMI port?

My xbox one s turns on perfectly but after some random amount of use it does a beeping noise( I think this is normal in regards of turning off) and it turns off completely, no white light. What if you turn off the console at night with the controller, turn it back on in the morning. The controller doesn't connect to the console. Changed the batteries, made sure it has been updated. But when I turn the xbox on by hand, it somehow connects randomly. Also there is a clear line of sight from controller to console.... happens frequently.... :(

My one doesn't boot at times as you described. I turn it on, it makes the sound and shuts right off. Sometimes I need to turn it on tons of times before it boots, but sometimes it boots at first try. Also weirdly enough, when it doesn't boot after tons of tries heating the console's top slightly with a hairdrier works - the console then boots normally. Do you think it's the southbridge? Or is it some other circuit, since as I said after heating it up to about 60 C with a hairdrier it turns on normally?
Probably the Southbridge but there are other things it can be as well.

Hi, I got my nephew's original xbox one and it turns on but it won't display anything on the TV. I did all the basic troubleshooting such as ensuring cables are working and in the right ports and holding the eject button with the power button for several seconds. I switched harddrives with my working xbox one s and my working xbox at least goes into a error message (e106) with the supposed culprit harddrive, but the bad xbox still doesn't give any tv signal with a known good harddrive. The solders for the hdmi port look fine, the only other info I have is that it was really dusty inside when I opened it up and was working fine for 3 years prior. Please help me save my nephew's quarantine companion.
So friend just brought his xbox one to me. It turns on (can hear fan spining) Power brick stays white. Tried to reset with usb, but didnt work. Controller wont work when plugged in usb, and logo on kinect dosent work, and the ethernet doesnt have glow. Thoughts? It will take and eject disc, but still no signal, or power on any ports.

Games on my xbox one s keep crashing to home screen. Not sure what is going on. I have tried everything in support on xbox but nothing seems to work. I originally thought it was my connection because I kept getting a strict nat type but I fixed that with DMZ on my modem. Now my nat is open all the time. Hey. If my hdmi port is broken on my xbox one s and has black sceen. Is it normal for with I power on it wont turn by pressing the power button. It only turns off by holding the power down.
