- This Xbox One S had a bit of a strange issue compared to what was listed on Ebay. The Xbox powers on for a mili second, then powers straight back off, not even displaying the white light on the button.

U think I could send u my xbox to get fix
Congratulations on the new baby!! Great video as always
Thankyou pal :)
Reminds of a joke I heard years ago: How many computer techs does it take to change a flat tire? Five, four to hold up the car while the other one keeps changing tires until they find the flat tire.
You might have forgotten the one with the probes..
What about the ones that change the seats, steering wheel and windshield before telling you it can’t be repaired.
Excellent video. Loved it. Great work
Thankyou! :)
The port on the power supply seems like they are always loose and barely hold the cable. Do you see that a lot working on these consoles? And any advice for fixing it? Should i replace my psu like you did in the video even if the console powers on and works fine?
U5D2 chip right above where u were working.. is that post to be broken in the middle
U5D2 black chip that has gk1fg828. Has 5 brongs on it thats pose to be soldered to the board... the middle 1 of mine is not contacting.. is that the way its designed or no. Because i dont have access to the diagrams..but my fan does not spin as well nd i see thats the only think wonky on the board just curious
Even though the ending was pretty anti-climactic, the video was still useful in showing us your thought process in troubleshooting. thank you and subscribed
Thankyou for subscribing, hope you enjoy the rest of the content :)
Hey Joe I'm having trouble with my xbox atm it beeps when I press eject but I have zero response when I press the on button can you help please
Hi, can you help?
I have a question, what readings areon each HDMI pin? I exchanged for new one, no image, changed retimer and still the same, I do not know if there is a short of the pins or maybe the other retimer is damaged
Hey :) I don't actually have the image but another RUclips by the name of The Cod3r has it in his Discord I believe :)
I don't understand why you don't have have more Subs! Great Vid as always:)
Thankyou :)!
@@JoeyDoesTech hello from swiss, 1 sub + ;-)
Could you swap the APU or is it married to the board? I really like you videos keep them coming
Someone actually said that I should give this a go, but I didn't think you could swap them. If you can, I would probably need a BGA rework station to do it :)
Weird that it DID stay on a few times during testing?
Tough luck on that APU, but good attempt! At the very least, the components (and experience!) are easily worth the price you paid though.
Great video as always might not have been one you could fix but it's got good spare parts and that's better than nothing.
Completely agree Dak! Thanks for watching :)
hey i was wondering if i cant even find anyone to fix my xbox do you think i could send it to you and have you fix it for me? im not to good at this stuff. let me know!!
My Xbox one doesn’t have a retimer chip but I still get a picture. Joey can you or anyone explain to me how that’s possible please?
Joey can you check the back side of apu? Real possibility the short was there. Should be easy to spot after 4A. I’m sorry, you probably cooked the board already beyond repair. 🤷♂️
Nice job bro! Hello from Rostov-on-Don!
Hello there!
I've been MIA for a while but regardless great vid other Joey! 🙏🏻
Nice to see you again Joey! Hope all is well :)
I had the Same problem and I replaced the U9C2 chip and it fixed it.
I have Xbox series s but I have a issue with no beep when turns on
Good video joey mate
Cheers pal
Seems like a legit diagnosis joey.. great vid
Thanks pal :)
So you think I can send my counsel to you it's bin acting up and not working so can I
do you have a diagram to see every voltage on components
I don't sorry :(
Did you check the back side of the board for heat spots?
I did yes, the thermal cam image in one of the shots was on the back of the board :)
On the rail I noticed that the Sauter was touching and it’s not supposed to be
I had the same issue thermal camera pointing at APU, i was able to fix it by reballing the APU. Takes 8 mintues to remove APU. Start preheating APU with 150c at 80 air speed for 2 minutes, then increase temp to 200c for another 2 minutes, then increase temp to 220c, for 2 minutes, then increase temp to 250 for 2 minutes, final increase twmp to 280 for 2 minutes and apu by now should be able to remove by prying up from under
Seller should’ve stated it was beep on beep off rather than no power. No power can be a simple fix but beep on and off is usually a bigger problem like south bridge or dead APU.
Exactly why I bought it haha!
@@JoeyDoesTech Yeah , that's my problem currently. I have an xbox and squirt soda dropped on the fan part. Now it powers on and off. I didn't know that saying beep on beep off is a technical problem so when I went to get the xbox repair the diagnostic explained that my problem was a lot bigger than simply no power and they recommended me buying a new xbox because the repairs would cost just as much as a new one. Not including the hourly wage I'd have to pay on top of the repair parts
Great job buddy 👍👍👍
Thankyou :)
I’m sure you mentioned it before, but what type of flux are you using in this video?
I use Kingbo RMA-218 :)
great. and wish you all the best mate.
Thankyou WTech :)
My Xbox is working it turns on and I thinks it’s the hard drive nerd fix and new button
You should always give the APU a reflow when you get a Board with a Faulty issue, it may just work.
Ahhh thankyou I will bare that in mind :)
whats reflow???
@@mostwanted6379 Using a Hot Air Station Gun to heat the CPU/GPU/APU or any other BGA Chip to a point where the solder balls underneath them that connects them to the PCB Melts and stick to both the chip and the PCB.
I fixed a dozen of Xbox 360s with RROD with this method. Also my laptop which I've reflown like 6 times now and it's still working.
Mine has this fault ..thanks for the info
Oh no! Joey forgot to mention the currency change between 45 pounds to USD! What would the world turn into?
Lmao, kidding, but I did notice that missing so got weirded out for a second. Great video Joey, as always, incredibly high quality video, funny, interesting, you truly deserve millions of subs.
Thankyou pal :) What a lovely comment to read today!
You’ve got a spanking clean case, 1TB HDD and working psu out of it! Not bad for £45!
Completely agree!
Don't forget wifi board, power board, caddy and cable, full screw set, fan, heatsink, ports, retimer the list is endless. Consoles are always worth their weight in gold just for parts
Thank you for the good entertainment. The Xbox looked very clean indeed.
You're more than welcome :)
Did you try to reflow the apu Joey. It's worth a bash
I did think about this pal but don’t think my hot air would be able to :( think it’s best for a BGA station
@@JoeyDoesTech it might be cooked now but I would still give it a bash I've managed to fix a lot of consoles just by heating the apu with a heat gun the ones for decorating. I do have a solder station with hot air but sometimes use the big one for ps3 etc
@@JoeyDoesTech the reason I mentioned to try reflow was because the console did turn on while the fan pressure was being applied removed etc while you were testing. Maybe the console took a knock at one point enough to crack a solder joint under the apu but not bad enough to show cosmetic damage
I think that the problem is in the RAM because I watched a video that aims at the same problem and it was solved by changing the small balls that fall under the ram because it does not give thirty om
goggle trad : tips from a Swiss amateur :-)) have you noticed how you can tell if the customer smokes maj ju a n a ??? the dust is greasy and sticky and therefore if it is necessary to repair, track n1, is to look for the elements which have overheated :-))) bye and good continuation , 1 sub +
Ah okay this now makes sense. I did not know this before, but now I do. Thankyou for the sub :)
Removing the APU wouldve been definitive in the final veredict.
Can you tell from where you learned to repair consoles ?
I learned by myself on RUclips :)
@@JoeyDoesTech woww is there any course available on youtube ?
Love the video.....
Thank you!
It seems like the same issue I have with my xbox
Sorry you couldn't repair it joey :( hopefully better luck next time
Thanks Rob, we’ll get em next time 😊
Serious Skills...👍.. Skills to pay the Bills!
Thankyou :)
Can't you replace the apu
That's way too much trouble to do
Didn't even know you could to be fair! Are they not married to the board?
@@JoeyDoesTech by replacing I think he means reballing the APU
But you can replace a APU it's just hard to
It's like xbox tired all our consoles
Pretty much like an xbox 360 because i have seen more 360 consoles that are clean having Red Ring Of Death than the ones covered in dirt dust and all kinds of filth
My xbox one turns on for a bout 20 seconds, does 3 clicking sounds (not the one you hear when you power off the xbox) then turne off. After seeing this video, my xbox one is finished lol
Sounds like hard drive issue
You win some and you some some if you never had a good buy you never had a bad buy!!!!!!
Nice
Thanks :)
tronicfix can fix it,,
He most probably could!
Good attempt an 45£ not bad
Yeah hard drive will be worth half that I think :)
i have a quick fix its called a hammer
That why thay sold it been looked at be for only get wot you paid for!!!!!
Half of that xbox is yellowed you can see it in the video
45 pounds for a broken mass produced console, lol. It's worth nothing.
I've got one I e been working on with the same symptoms. You get a power up chime pressing the power button but no light, but after about 40 odd seconds, you then get the light come on for about 5-6 seconds, then a graceful shutdown tone. That's why it seemed like it's the fan or something you have disconnected at the beginning. If you constantly monitor the some of the test pads during that first 40 seconds they pulse like it's trying to boot by can't.
I still don't know what's wrong with mine tho. 🥲
Maybe one day we'll get there haha. Someone actually reached out to me on Discord and asked me to check two capacitors on the back side of the APU to see if they were shorted somehow. Need to have a look at that.
