Man people like you are so rare! the knowledge you have is amazing! I have a board like this, no obvious damage, Power supply is good too but wont turn on. I am trying to follow your steps to test it out.
Thank you! 😊 I saw a Xbox one for sale at £15 because it's parts spares or repairs.... I thought surely that's an easy fix, and let's get on RUclips.. BOOM and I find you .. Respect for your time showing this fix ❤️💯💪
Great vid ! Question: my Xbox doesn't turn on, but also the USB-ports don't work. My power brick has an orange light, doesn't change when I plug it in the console.. took it apart now according your video and need to test the mosfets now. What could it be??
Brilliant vid. I always repair mechanical problems, ie. changed my washing machine bearings twice,, had the front end of my car off to remove the manifolds to fix an issue, but electronics have always seemed mystical to me, like black magic! I might give this a go, thanks.
I really like this short videos cuz most of the time I don't have an hour to watch a video Even though you're so informative thank you so much I really enjoy your content .
It's not a chip, it's a MOSFET. Part number is TPN8R903NL per the audio at 10:36. (Had to listen to it like 10 times to get it - he says it really fast) Hope it helps!
EXTREMELY useful video, you seem to be really good at this- im teaching myself minor board repair stuff and ill be checking your other videos. Thanks so much for posting!
Hi Phil. My motherboard is different to the one you are working on. Mine is the 1540. Can you do a no power video on that revision please? Many thanks in advance. Rory.
bro..im new to basic soldering..what is that white stuff you use to solder the mofset chip..is that flux? what kind?..nice to see your list of materials you have..love your channel
Yes it's flux mate. Depending on the job I'm doing I use different flux. For basic tasks like ports, surface mount components and through hole I use kingbo rma-218 which is cheap and cheerful but won't corrode the board. For BGA I use MG Chemicals no clean :)
Hey Phil, love your videos, this one on particular. I have board that has no power what so ever , plug in the charger the power just stays orange. Tried power brick into a different Xbox and it works fine. Tested the MOSFETs and there doesn't seem to any shorted. What else should I be looking at?
Thanks Rob. It's hard to say really but you could start by checking your standby voltages. Around the board you'll see stuff marked 1.1v, 1.8v, 3.3v, 5v etc which will be your rest points. The ones you need before the console is powered on are ones marked with "SB" for standby. I like your vids very imformational. i do have a problem with my xbox one and am hoping you can help me. I do a little electronics on the side and have been learning a lot. so where the NCP4204 is on the bottom left toward the letter C is some capacitors microscopic it looks on mine as where someone put the wrong screw in so it hit the board and took out these capacitors i woulld send you a screen shot if i could. But i would like to know what size capacitors go in there so i can replace them. thanks in advance for your help.
Soo I’m having a issue with my Xbox where it pings like it wants to turn on but very faintly the brick light is orange and stays solid orange even when plugged into the Xbox and trying to turn it on Xbox doesn’t light up and orange light doesn’t blink or change white just solid orange
Idk if I can explain this to u but I'm thinking mine has same problem not the gate side but I believe you called it the dump side. I have continuity on the first three chips but the last one is .092 on dump side but the gate was good same as others. The bigger chip to the left where it should have continuity it has .092. so it has shorted somewhere between the c and d on the board I believe it's the same chip u replaced here but in the d part of board. But my question I guess is how can I follow the flow of electricity from part to part? Like how can I figure out where it goes from from one point to another to another? Please help
Hello. I've got 0 experience in repairing consoles but what happened is that my xbox issue is definitely like yours. The power supply turned on but I plugged it on the xbox it turn off. Can I do it myself? what are the of the parts / mosfets you mentioned to be replaced?
I had this issue before on a friends xbox it turned out the issue was with the power supply. It had a shorted transistor that feed power to the 12V rail. Once I replaced the transistor the console started working good again.
The fixing process is easy, but finding the parts is the hard part😅 had my Xbox one 1540 broken for a while, same problem which is a short circuit on the mosfets, same component as the video that is producing a short, but the hard part is that i cant find them anywhere and the harder part is we live in a very far away country. I must do something i cant just let my xbox one rot away, it had fh5,gta5,gta5,wd2,rdr2,rdr1,fc5,fc4,fifa24
thanks for the video. mine had the exact same issue, but each time i fitted a new mosfet it blew it again. pinouts seemed to measure all fine before switching it on so im stuck :(
Im completely new to fixing physical components im more of a software developer but i just would like to ask if you dont have access to a hot air gun what are some safe ideas one can use to get the chip removed and reseated with a new one , sorry for being a bit of a noob but best ask then make a mistake
Hi I have a similar problem: The xbox one 1504 don't turn on, but if I press the power button it emit a beep sound. The orange light of power supply still orange and never turning off (So I suppose don't think there are any short circuits on the board). But I don't know how to solve it. Can you help me, please? Thank you
So I have a Xbox one that doesn’t turn on cause of short I do not see any damage to the resistants will reflowing the motherboard with a heat gun work?
I’ve got an Xbox one S I bought for the case and hard drive, however wheni bought it used off eBay for parts and it beeps but doesn’t turn on, do you want the parts? As it has no case and no hard drive not much else I’ll use, it has a disc drive but not sure if that works.
Would this method work for an xbox one that turns on then off after 5 seconds? Ive renewed the power cable & the hard drive with cables and still the same issue?
I have a first gen Xbox one and it just started this today, it will beep and try to come on but will not power on, what could I do about this? I’ve tried all the resets
It sounds like an issue with the board mate. You'd need to go through checking for liquid damage as well as check power rails etc to figure out what component has failed on it
Can you help me. My Xbox One Original went to Sleep Mode running in background. I've turned up Xbox and fan is not working. It just tries to start spinning but it looks like it doesnt have enough power in it. To me it looks like he is still in sleep mode but it isnt. I've tried to reset xbox thru "menu", not troublesboot, by reseting keeping apps and games. It doesnt help. Can you help me please, I know fan is working 100% and I've cleaned whole xbox, not touching motherboard. Thank you!
I got an Xbox one 500gb same one in the video it chirps but the power button led flash once power brick goes from orange to white then back to orange. What is the causes?
@@TheCod3r This one is abit weird as when the xbox one is completely cold it flashes power light for a split second with a beep. But when I warm up the xbox one on the radiator it will turn on for 5 second then shut off. There's power going through the board. As for USB it charges my phone as soon I try powering on the xbox one the usb power dropped out. It abit of head scratching here
It could be a few things to be honest. The next steps would be to check your test points which are marked on the left side of the board to see if any power rails are missing
@@TheCod3r I'm new to this so where exactly would that be on the board? Everything seems to be there I have the exact same board that you have in the video

A Chinese take out meal? What the hell Phill? Get yourself a large Donna Kebab, pot garlic, pot chilli 🤤🤤🤤. Lovely. Infact i will have one tonight and dedicate it to you😂
It would take an awful lot of work to remove the damaged components with just an iron. It's possible but I wouldn't recommend it since it stands a good chance of damaging layers on the board
Your right I think I damaged the board of a controller I bought with lots of issues trying to fix it. I just couldn’t find the issue. It was the old controller without a audio jack.
Mine just died but the power supply shows its working just fine but for whatever reason the console just wont power on at all. My xbox 360 Died at the same time too! Boots up and hangs at the gray screen with white circle. Talk about a bad day.
