Man what a cool build and video! Back in the day (2008) we lanned 2 OG 360s for 8 player halo 3 in a garage. Got so hot we used household fans to cool them 😂 later got something called an xbox intercooler that clipped onto the back and extracted the warm air. Still got my old 360 in the garage but my daughter prefers the ps3🙈
I am writing all this before I watch the video. Nah, it’s not overkill the cooling was so bad that the Xbox 360 would literally fry it’s own hardware and become a red ring of death brick.
This was cool, but ultimately overkill, given the console. Still enjoyed the video nonetheless. Also, having taken apart my own 360 E, as well as two other Xbox Ones to clean and repair, I can relate to the pain that is opening an Xbox. If this was me? I would've just replaced the thermal compound and upgraded the fan. But, again. Cool video. Look forward to the next.
I just want to add watercooling to all my older consoles, and have it connect to a main quick connect system. Be nice to have it connected to a large watercooling block lol. That's all I'd want, and to commission modern ones incorporating more efficient parts and the like... probably take about 120k to get microsoft to build a modern xbox original tbh, on the low end...

I’m halfway through the video and everything has been really painful to watch. From the no knowledge of what he’s doing. Breaking the case, not knowing that a device that records temps has a thermostat, screwing in the fan and almost destroying the 360. This is satire correct?
No, I didn’t do any research and just went into the project almost unplanned. I’ve been reminded of this several times. It’s not in my intentions to perform something like this again with scripting and researching it down to the teeth. If there’s a way to access the consoles thermostat, I’d love to know as it would be much more accurate than anything I have on hand. My hand slipped with the fan screw, could happen to any one. I could have cut that clip, but I’d rather have my mistakes demonstrated so I can learn from them. Something thats important for lifespan is that 360 disk drives are HORRIBLE when not mounted level. Mounting them on their side, or as shown here on an angle, can massivly reduce the lifespan of the drive and also results in damage to the disks as they're not properly secured inside the drive. This is despite marketing showing the 360 standing on it's side, it's actually really bad for it.
Thanks for letting me know! I’ll be mounting it level when I put it in the pc case, in the time span before I get to work on part two, I’ll be disassembling everything to make sure nothing gets damaged.
That water block dude wtf 😂 I used those once on a TEC chiller I made, they worked well enough for that, I wouldn’t trust them as a water block. Also, I would anchor those tubes in place on that block with something, a zip tie, a hose clamp, just use something. Don’t leave them loose on those barbs, don’t ask how I know 🤦♂️
Yeah it ain’t perfect, but enough for now. I got some clamps with the kit, they didn’t seem necessary at the time, but I’ll make sure to install them. Cheers
This was hard to watch… why not get a motherboard revision that could be RGHed ? That way you could have all the temps reported accurately. And the waterblock mounting only using two screws… it needs some kind of backplate otherwise the motherboard will warp over time around the APU.
When purchasing this console, I didn’t know what model I was getting, it didn’t matter to much at the time as it came with a bunch of stuff, and I didn’t intent to soft-mod it. As for the warping, I had another comment mention that too. I’ve disassembled the whole project for storage until I begin part two. Cheers

@@TommyHoughton Alright, thanks. I mean, this is a crazy modded console, let's see some demanding games and how they perform. It's like driving a sports car at 2 miles per hour. Crank that box! While that’s not possible with this model (Winchester) I’ve bought a slim model to redo this project for December with the benefits of RGH (among other things...) Cheers
with thousands of extremely high quality cpus water blocks, and you installed a block that isn't worth shit take out that block and apply a quality one it's my opinion nothing against the project
I’d definitely like to. For this console since it doesn’t need to be premium, I won’t be changing much except the essentials. But since I want to revisit this project again sometime with an RGH compatible model, I’ll definitely improve the water cooling components themselves.
That's so awesome my dude, can you maybe make one in the near future with the fat ps4? Because that's the one that's the loudest and has the most heating issues
My friend has one, I’ve been talking to him about making that happen. Since it’s more special then the xbox 360 tho, it would be done differently. I’d want to it internally cooled with a custom loop. One day I’ll try and do as many of the consoles as possible. Stay tuned if something happens!
That's fair, but It wasn't my first choice. I watched and ready many tutorials for the base 360 and 360s models, so I assumed that my one would be similar and just went for it. I knew I wouldn't be using the case anyway, so the damage was acceptable. For an internally watercooled build, I'll be taking my time and getting some Ifixit stuff or such.
i would just like to say that at the beginning when you say "the xbox 360 isnt visually striking' your technically correct when it comes to older ones with the hourglass shape the whole point was customization faceplates and the like but the Elite model you have is a direct predicessor of the og xbox 1 and why they look very similar your image has a mix of base and later models that have been de crazified
Fun Fact! The model E (your model) is the last xbox 360 redesign releasing on 2013-06-10, then 5 months later (on 2013-11-22) the xbox one came out! edit: dates go year, month, day.
FUNFACT: He is used the XBOX 360E and this console is most silent console in the xbox 360 family and this console also built in diffrent motherboard make him hard to hack (all dream ended there) and good at perfomance
Very neat, i was suprised he said nzd i think that the first time on RUclips i have heard nzd. Also i hope that the project go's well and if you try getting in tge pc case good luck, i think it will be cool. Maybe cables from the board to the cd drive and replace the original that would be so cool, a xbox that looks like a pc.

Thanks. I mainly did this for fun. PS4 is on the list, I’ve got lots of consoles I want to try.
Cheers
Was it cool, yes, is it a waste of money, time, and I wanted to see some possible overclocking, also yes.
Cheers
Next time you should add a GPU or more ram just as much mods as possible
Instead of doing something cool he is actually telling us how much everything costs to do it as well
I never liked the 360 to be honest. We had one when I was growing up but never played it as much my PS2/3 back in the day
While yes it’s an awesome project, watching u take apart and how rough and clumsy u were hurt my soul. I felt like an Italian watch someone cut pasta with scissors, I feel like I witnessed a pineapple only pizza
I think you described it perfectly
Wouldn't it be great if he showed more than just minecraft playing for 10 seconds? Maybe it's like we also wanted to see some gameplay, not just Bane's venom tanks. Why do these builders keep doing this? Show me the performance!!
I promise I’ll show more during part two! I realise I didn’t show much gameplay, which is a bit of a shame. I intend to make up for it.
@@TommyHoughton Alright, thanks. I mean, this is a crazy modded console, let's see some demanding games and how they perform. It's like driving a sports car at 2 miles per hour. Crank that box! Play some GTA, Destiny, Battlefield, Halo, or something crazy looking or big! Anything can play minecraft.
Instead, you could have reset glitch hacked (RGH) the console which would show the temps and would have been cheaper.
While that’s not possible with this model (Winchester) I’ve bought a slim model to redo this project for December with the benefits of RGH (among other things...) Cheers
Why you get temperature from cooling system, get temperature from crystal, will be show much higher temperature
with thousands of extremely high quality cpus water blocks, and you installed a block that isn't worth shit take out that block and apply a quality one
it's my opinion
nothing against the project

I’d definitely like to. For this console since it doesn’t need to be premium, I won’t be changing much except the essentials. But since I want to revisit this project again sometime with an RGH compatible model, I’ll definitely improve the water cooling components themselves.
you have a xbox 360e that came out with the xbox 1 so you can still play xbox 360 games
That's so awesome my dude, can you maybe make one in the near future with the fat ps4? Because that's the one that's the loudest and has the most heating issues
I’ll add it to the list! I’ve never had a playstation, so it’ll be exciting. If it enters the works I’ll post an update!
love the video !!! also you should invest in some good plastic pry tools !!! they work for alot of things !
I’ve been recommended to do that! I’ll try find a few locally. Thanks!
You should water cool a original Xbox next
My friend has one, I’ve been talking to him about making that happen. Since it’s more special then the xbox 360 tho, it would be done differently. I’d want to it internally cooled with a custom loop. One day I’ll try and do as many of the consoles as possible. Stay tuned if something happens!
@@TommyHoughton betttt keep up the great work
Its cool but i'm worried that certain chips may not be getting an air flow path going over them anymore, leading to them frying.
I’ve fixed that in part two *It’ll be releasing soon
Unable to find a teardown guide for a xbox 360.... yeah.... just admit it, you wanted to break it apart, I know it and you know it too 🙂
That's fair, but It wasn't my first choice.
Bro you should just try using a hammer instead
The view count is strangely low for this production quality, fingers crossed the algorithm gets its shit together soon xd
It seems to be improving now! I think you jinxed it lol
cool and all but all that work and little difference nice job tho
For just a bit more accuracy on the temps you could have simply rghed the console. Also the teardown was cringe.
This model can’t be rgh modded, if it could then I would have no hesitation. The teardown could have been a lot better.
Cant judge you, i did the same to my PS4 when i got it used, lol
Remember my Cousin tryed to make a Watercooled PS3 but he accidentally destroyed the HDMI Slot
Sorry to hear that!
Seeing this with a newer console would be cool
You should do it for a ps4 so it doesn’t sound like a jet turning on
You broke ever single panel on the console
unfortunately yeah
3:44 *gets red ring* ☠️
The guy makes videos for RUclips but doesn't use RUclips to see how to open the video game...
Not sure why I didn’t, but it won’t happen again.
i would just like to say that at the beginning when you say "the xbox 360 isnt visually striking' your technically correct when it comes to older ones with the hourglass shape the whole point was customization faceplates and the like but the Elite model you have is a direct predicessor of the og xbox 1 and why they look very similar your image has a mix of base and later models that have been de crazified
Nice content! You've just earned yourself a new sub 😉
Why an xbox 360 though? Why not something newer?
Budget 😅 but also sentimentality. There’s a few games that I haven’t played in years, but budget is still the main factor.
You attacked that poor console like an angry toddler. 😂
I should do this with an old 360 i have sitting around seems fun. Was the cooling loop a kit and if so where can i buy it
I bought the kit off Trade Me, which is a New Zealand site, I would recommend aliexpress or amazon for similar components.
@@TommyHoughton sweet thanks, I think I'm gonna try and home brew as well with my big old xbox
Yo do this with an xbox series s bro and add a disk drive
I immediately subscribed because this is absolutely amazong
Very neat, i was suprised he said nzd i think that the first time on RUclips i have heard nzd. Also i hope that the project go's well and if you try getting in tge pc case good luck, i think it will be cool. Maybe cables from the board to the cd drive and replace the original that would be so cool, a xbox that looks like a pc.
I jungleflashed and did the penny trick on my 360
