This is a classic, and I was actually blessed to work with Dr. John once at Tipitina's Bar in NOLA for a benefit show. He was as cool as the underside of your pillow. I sat a couple of feet from him while he played a Hammond B-3 organ, because the cable going from the organ to the Leslie speakers will come lose easily so I was close in case it needed to be plugged in quickly (excuse). He is a New Orleans icon and being born in 1971 I don't remember not hearing Dr. John's music all of the time my whole life.
Ty we all loved this song. But hey sometimes there were those moments like Debbie said .. and teens many times seem they're in the right place but the wrong time. Lyrically this song just fits the awkward teen life. Glad you enjoyed it .. thnx. Blessings .. now on to the next reaction .. which is a doozy .. loving, touching, squeezing 😉😁
My son is 46, I heard this when he was a baby, his dad had it. I had the album till 3 yrs ago. Donated a lot of stuff. It originated in 1973 I believe.
You just heard one of my favorite playlist songs that I always listen to when I want to get motivated to move. First heard this song when I was in junior high, and I've loved it ever since. First time I saw Dr John on tv, he completely blew me away! Flamboyant would be putting it mildly. 😄 He was the personification of New Orleans.
The Muppets were a Jim Henson creation of a variety sketch comedy show that mixed in some huge name performers. It was fun to watch Sir Elton John mixing it up on the piano with the muppets. It was great entertainment for all ages. Great reactions!!!
I have been listening to this song ever since it was released. This is one of those songs that gets your body moving whether you are standing or sitting down, it affects me like that anyway. Ty since you are a piano/keyboard player I would really like to see you react to Mac's Boogie by Dr. John. I think you will really enjoy it.
Yoooo! This took me RIGHT back to childhood, being bored on Sat afternoon’s I was punished & not Allowed outside & watched EVERY 70’s B movie they would play on TV (no cable really yet, only premium & same 10 movies first year lol) … this was the score to my indoor punishment’s 😆🤷🏻♀️… and I love it!! Enjoyed @Debbie B’
Late May 1974, my bestie Bobby Kirby and two brothers Alphonso Jones and Chalmers Johnson dissed our classes and rode around and smoked some Mary , but anyway I digress. I put this in my 1971 Camaro 8 track. We all 4 were leanin and singin. Just like yesterday in may mind.
I love Dr.John! Been listening to him for many years! He was also featured in The Last Waltz and was a member of a previous line-up of Ringo’s All-Starr Band.
Interesting story I forgot to mention. Dr. John was in a confrontation with a hotel manager who pulled a gun on him. Dr. John went for the gun that went off and blew his ring finger off. They did sew his finger back on but it didn't heal properly so he couldn't play guitar. He then played piano very well with a finger that healed all crooked.
I was a teenager in the 70’s and the music of “my time” was still truly inspired me! I have recently become so much closer to God and I found the group Selah! One of their songs, Press On is one I listen to every day because it truly inspires me🙏🏻🕊✝️🌸♥️
Yay...love this one ty!! Check out Vanilla Fudge 'Keep me Hangin on" song form the Ed Sullivan show...you will go crazy. Keep it real Ty...appreciate you
Awesome Song! My current band is learning it and it is so much fun. My boys love the part where they do the Ooo’s and sing it with me. What a great blast from the past! Thanks for lightening up things between serious topics! PS… I play bass and agree with you what a fabulous bass line.
I was in a bad place, but I had such a good time. This part of that song has always fit my life. I'm not rich and don't have a college degree but I do have a particular set of skills that help me see BS for what it really is. I can see the same skills developing in you as well.
We had our moments but not in high school. Some one said oh boy how he know. I said I guess like when we used to be in church thinking Pastor was taking about us😂and he is a Pastor.....

71er myself. This song brings back memories of skating rinks and disco dance competitions. 😁
I remember when this song was a big hit. Still love it.
I grew up right outside N'awlins and saw him in concert. Gud grief I'm old 😂
Ice T used this sample. Love your positive attitude!
Great song from back when I was just a teenager…..

Dr John has interesting videos with Johnny Winter. This song should be New Orleans anthem (Note my hometown) 🤠
One Classic that will Always Rock.

That song was an old school friend of mines favorite song at the time. His dances steps went perfect with the song. Cherishable Memories.
I can remember getting my funky dance on with this song. Thanks for the memories 🤗
This song was popular when I was a teen in high school. Croozin with my buds on Friday & Saturday, goin' to parties and all.
Dr. John's song...a classic from the past.....He appeared in the Blues Brothers 2000 movie
I have some local friends who play this. It's so good.
The legendary George Porter of the Meters on bass!!! He is still touring with his Runnin' Pardners...

Got to see Dr John live in Dublin a few years ago fantastic night.
Love this song... It was a hit when I was in 9th grade
Funk is my all-time favorite. Thanks!
You really need to watch some Muppet Show, btw.
🤣 rewatched this reaction with Paco and I didn't catch the first line in the intro before. I am STILL not admitting to anything 🤣
From the time when it was real music 🎶 peace ✌ 😌
Your face! You could see the song growing on ya!
I love Dr.John! Been listening to him for many years! He was also featured in The Last Waltz and was a member of a previous line-up of Ringo’s All-Starr Band.
I recognized that song and realized it was used in the beginning of the film Sahara.

Rand Paul sewed my fingers back on and they work great. (True story). I think he's as good of a senator as he was a doctor.

Have you done a video on flashlight by parliament? Thats a good one. Lol
Yes I use to bump. Lol it was fun.
Ty you reacted to the Muppets going to Jamaca...
Right! My wife said it was a actual show/cartoon. That's what I was referring to.
Another old one you should check out is Leon Russell. A Song for You
Do "Going Back Home To New Orleans" it features The Neville brothers, their father , Al Hirt and Pete Fountain; all New Orleans legends
Good cruising song
Man, good stuff!
