OK I swear I'm not trolling or anything like that (and here it comes) BUT is this only a reaction to "scary" lyrics? What value does this song contain? Slayer did this 35 years ago with shock value and true "scare" without the visuals and the production. This appears like a lazy attempt now knowing that the world will feel something either way. The fact that you are questioning if they are biting off of GNR AND IN MY OPINION when the started their career biting off Metallica proves even you aren't sold on this IN MY OPINION. Thank you for your time and keep doing what you do. Yes I say IN MY OPINIOPN so people on the internet can find their hate without me having dealing with it. Hell politicians do it all the time.

Monte Nicolay I suppose the value in this song depends on the message you get from it. The story of the song is intentionally over the top, but it was just an artistic choice from the writer.
He was inspired by Danny Elfman scores while writing it, and considering Elfman often collaborated with Tim Burton, I don’t think it’s a stretch to suggest their was some inspiration from him too.
The writer was also in a band prior to this one, which had narrative focused songs which didn’t have much deeper meaning, but rather told their story with an enigmatic arrangement, surrounding pretty macabre subject matter (kinda like this song).
Fans of the band either fall into thinking that this is just a goofy, fun song which isn’t supposed to be taken too seriously, with an intentionally gory and relatively shocking subject matter. Or they think it has a deeper message about appreciating what you have and being open and honest with the ones you love.

Rev wrote this while they were on writers block and in a cabin. Monte, this song actually has far more orchestration than I think you understand. Perhaps you should go look up how this song was made, then maybe you may gain more appreciation for it. This song was made by an entire orchestra basically.

It's believed the song is about a messed up guy and a messed up girl who are both messed up together, born out of anger and frustration the relationship ends up working against all odds and despite others seeing their relationship as being disfuctional.. they are disfuctional together.

I like to think that this song is Avenged Sevenfold’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” if you set aside the gruesome nature it’s really a great song. Melodies and actual in the flesh musicians playing orchestral instruments. It came together quite beautifully. There’s a video documenting the making of this song. And it’s similar to what queen did with bohemian rhapsody.
Very interesting you felt like it reminded you of Guns N Roses, GNR and Metallica are two bands that have influenced A7X.

@@KristinKali Well if you want early stuff from there I recommend Bat Country and Beast and the Harlot. If you want their newer stuff, i recommend The Stage and Exist. Anything from their last album is perfect (if your into a bit of prog/metal)
