Here I am looking at these now that have depreciated. Hard to pick between the G425 driver/fairway/iron and Sim 2 driver/fairway/iron - 16 handicap here.
Just found you’re channel. From UK, ordered G425’s after Ping fitting. Told yesterday rather than a month wait it’ll be 5 months so looking for alternatives. Good honest advise and feedback. Good luck.
Distance dispersion was awesome with the Cobra. I liked these the best of the three personally. Found the TMs to fly too far at times - can’t trust the distances from shot to shot.
Yeah, I pointed that out in the summary, that Cobra crushed it in distance dispersion. And you’re right, the TM can catch some flyers for sure. Except for one random weird one on the G425, that would have otherwise been the best combo of distance and right/left dispersion I think.
Yep, you’re exactly right. I am using range balls for my reviews. I know it’s not ideal, but it’s what I have to work with for the moment until I can get my own studio. It is what it is brother. But you’re right. One day soon, I hope I can do all these with the same high quality balls. The more subs I get, the closer I get to being able to swing that!
It's funny I did a fitting two weeks ago and the Cobra Radspeed definitely performed the best. I hated the look of it so much that I had to go with another iron.
Haha, well we agree on the Looks category then. But yeah, that’s what’s funny about golf clubs. It’s so specific to the user. One golfer may totally have a different experience than another. And like I said in the video, in virtually every category, none of them were separated by much. So it was close anyways.
First time viewer from the UK here, great vid bud, makes a change to see a "normal" golfer doing the reviews, I look forward to a lot more vids from you.
Where the heck did you find them for $850 ? Cheapest now in 23 is $799 with iron shafts and $899 with graphite and now the ping is the same exact price. So with that in mind would you change your mind haha
Subscribed, watched, then liked. Thanks Matt. Well done. Just like you, 12 Handicap when i stopped playing in 2007. My goal,..to enter and play in the MYRTLE BCH WORLD AMATEUR 2022. Have been getting in the mid-80's with Tour Burners. Should i get fitted, buy these new TM, and take a lesson or two?
Thanks so much for the support. I haven’t tested the Mavrik’s because I’ve mostly been focusing on the new releases. That said, the new Callaway Apex DCB’s are the newest game improvement irons Callaway has released. And they are amazing. I dare say they might be better than the SiM2 irons. I might do a head-to-head of the SiM2 vs the Apex DCB. Until then, feel free to watch the review of the Apex DCB’s here: ruclips.net/video/pqy6bQ8n3FM/видео.html
First of all I’ve clicked the subscription, secondly living in the Uk I see a lot of Rick Shields videos and you swing isn’t bad, (it’s actually good) loved the video, I’m ordering the Ping 425’s (having a fitting first)
Subscribed from the UK, helpful video having tried both the sim max 2 and G425 I'm still not better off which one to choose. I was looking around tonight for others views, so this helps but just adds more of a dilemma, i feel like the sim max 2 is the one for me
Well, it was very very close, but based on this test, I did say that the SiM2 Max was the declared winner. But I honestly don’t think you could go wrong either.
Thanks matt, having re visited this once again, I went for the G425 as they integrate loft wise better into the bag with some of my existing clubs I dont really want to lose, the sim max 2 crazy lofts turn things on its head. Please could you consider doing a best hybrid 2021 video? Best wishes
@@adammcintyre6708 Yeah, excellent choice. Those G425’s are fantastic. And yes, lofted a touch more towards the traditional side. I will have both hybrid and fairway wood reviews coming soon. Stay tuned!!!
Great review like the Ping best for looks and nice finish. Still trying clubs before I press the button. Tried T400, DCB, both great but expensive, tried Sim maxO/S, JPX hot metal will try Radspeed and P790. As a senior 22 handicapper will be deciding on forgiveness, distance , and price may well feature too. Ping here similar price to the Sim max, hot metal and Radspeed. Do worry a little that irons with power holes or speed pockets will get damaged over time heard a few reports on this very much like black finish which tarnish quickly. Greetings from 🇬🇧.
Have you tried single length irons? I'm a Licensed Coach of The Easiest Swing. I'm in the U.S. and three of my senior students bought single length irons from Giga Golf in Florida. You can call them to do your fitting. All of them upgraded to the UST Mamiya 660 F2 (senior) graphite shaft and love the clubs. I get nothing from UST or Giga. Just providing information.
Hi and thanks for your great reviews. I have a question… kinda technical. I am leaning towards the cobra irons and I’m wondering IF I decide to have loft adjusted WEAK by one degree will it affect the turf interaction much of at all? Thank you
Great Review on all three clubs you tested. Those Ping G425 irons do look so good, as I am a huge Ping fan. If I only did not just buy Titleist T-300 last year I would consider them. Are they as forgiving as the T-300 in your opinion?
Hmmmm. That’s a tough one. I’d say they’re more consistent than the T300. But I couldn’t rule one as more forgiving over the other. I would say the T300 is longer though!
Yup - I guess I should’ve done a little research lol. I wonder how many of my paychecks Fiddler’s has lol. Love that place. Todd has squeezed every penny I owned outta me lol.
Good review and good luck with the channel. Nice to see an ‘average’ golfer doing this. Suggestion: DCB v JPX921 hot metal. Both getting good reviews and on my shortlist for fitting to replace ancient x16s.
Hmmmm, that’s not a review I have considered. I think I’d be down for that. I think you just gave me an interesting idea for a future head-to head.Question for you, if I threw a third club into the mix, would you prefer it to be the G425 or SiM2 Max?
Farther doesn’t equal better. Accurate control over iron distances is critical for good players. All of these irons are already way stronger lofted than a typical club. Look for consistency when your shopping for irons.
SIM2 MAX owner here with a 9 hcp. So easy to hit and accurate
Ping player here. No dirt in the open cavity.

Really enjoyed the video review. Just ordered a set of the SIM 2 Max irons, and can’t wait for them to show up at my door.
That’s awesome John. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed. You’ll have to come back and comment later how they are working out for you!
Please let me know what you think. O shoot in the low 100 to mid 90s. Did you tho they improved your game?

What kind of balls are you using ? They seem to be normal range balls which would lead to the numbers being all over the map like they appear to be.
Yep, you’re exactly right. I am using range balls for my reviews. I know it’s not ideal, but it’s what I have to work with for the moment until I can get my own studio. It is what it is brother. Hi… will adjusting the lofts( weaken by one degree) cause any issues with turf interaction much or at all?
Any thoughts on this ?
Vern

In typical fashion I’m watching the reviews after I bought the irons but nevertheless I’m happy I bought the SIM 2 max iron set! Lol

@@golfingmadeeasy thanks for the info like thecT300 and Cobra Radspeed best. Will try one length.
during this test what is your swing speed?
Great video , bought pings an very happy , can’t put any amount of money in this game for good iron an enjoyment.
Hello there, you mentioned the shafts being stock.
What is your swing speed and if you recall the shaft flex of these irons. Thanks.

I bought a set of ping G 425 irons. One of my iron says U; does that mean it’s a 3 iron?
I think it's called utility. It's a gap wedge between Pitch and Sand. You've probably found that out by now but thought I'd comment anyway!
Cool little Studebaker truck !
Hahaha, thanks Casey!

Anyone here that shoots in mid 90 to 100 use the sims 2? If so did it help?
That music makes me feel like I’m on hold with a utility company. Ouch!
Wow Keith. You nailed it. That was the very feel I was going for!

Buahahaha, I wish I was getting paid brother!
this is why you should remove the best and worst shot as it can be fluky and skew the results
