    My dad got bitten by a brown recluse on his hand and he is the type to only go to the hospital if a limb is chopped off. It ate away the flesh about the size of a dime before my mom convinced him to go to the doctor (she’s a nurse and had been treating him but my dad is stubborn). By the time he went in, they had to carve out around where his flesh was dissolving and there was a weird purplish line traveling up his arm to about his shoulder. The doc said the poison had gotten into his vein and had he waited another week, that purple line would have traveled all the way to his heart.
    So yeah, don’t mess with brown recluse 😳

      @LadyLocket 3 года назад +7

      For me hight also isn't an issue, it was their insecurity about it that's the problem and the constant little remarks about my shoes ALL THE TIME, it was tiring. We would be getting ready to go out and all would be fine until I would bring my chosen heels down to the door and it would start
      "Are you really wearing those today?"
      "Why don't you wear the black pair, I like those (my office flats or my low day shoe)"
      "Why do you always have to wear heels, why not wear pretty flats like other girls, then you can dance"
      No relationship before or since have I dreaded going out because of my shoes. They even started trying to get me to change my dress style to sporty all because they thought it would get me to wear trainers instead.
      The weirdest thing was they loved it when you turned up in heels when you met or wear them privately at home.

    Hey Miles - just an FYI about doggies. The larger the dog the less time they live. So you might only be looking at eight years with a large dog. Whereas I'm currently walking an eighteen year old King Charles spaniel. I recommend a mutt as well because they will have less health issues especially later on in life. From a dog walker by profession.
    Cats are a lesson in consent. If you're good at consent you'll have a good cat who feels comfortable around you. Learn cat language. The history with both animals are so extremely different with how they evolved with humans. You can't really compare them.

    • @frostyskeletons8950
      @frostyskeletons8950 3 года назад +24

      Yes! I was so frustrated with the way they talked about “bad cats.” You can’t force an animal to love you, and then say they’re the problem when they tell you to back the h*ll off. I also hope that if Miles does end up with a large dog he’s not in apartments anymore. It’s really unfair when people get big dogs and think taking them for walks makes up for the confined living space :(

    • @sophianehama8919
      @sophianehama8919 3 года назад +3

      So this is only semi-true. Big dogs like malamutes are know to live up to sixteen years. Large mutts are also known to live longer. The issue tends to be inbreeding and vascular problems.
      That being said neutering big dogs, especially before 18 months tends to be more dangerous as it leads to more cases of bone cancer. This is almost never seen in small dogs.
      So it really depends on breed, health problems, and vet care choices. My parents had two bigs dogs for over 12 years and my boy is coming up on 7 (140 lbs) and is as healthy as ever.

    Keith, please be carefull with assuming a cat is a stray cat. I have worked at an animal rescue center for almost 10 years now, and we often get calls from people who have found a cat, have been feeding it for a few weeks, because it looked so sad/hungry and the cat doesnt want to leave anymore. And we come scan the microchip and the cat lives only a few streets away and had been missing for those weeks, cause cats will often stay where they can get tasty food, or we find out it needed medication or special food and the people who "found" the cat almost killed it.
    If they dont have a microchip and the cat looks healthy, we will give them a phonecollar (a collar with the rescue centers phonenumber on it and the request that the owner calls that number) and we tell the people to not feed it anymore, so it has a chance to get back to its owner, who can call us to say its their cat. And if we dont get called after 6/7 days we can assume the cat is either lost or a stray, so maybe you could try that with your own phone number to make sure it doesnt have an owner

    Everyone is obsessed with my cat when they meet him in person. His name is sketchy, hes 18 lbs of fluff. He loves to play fetch with hair elastics and "show off" to visitors by rubbing his back on the carpet and rubbing up against legs. Sketch was found running along a new york highway at 3 weeks old. He was picked up by a friend of a friend who couldnt keep him and when he was 12 weeks, he made his way to me in mass. Ive had him for 6 years going on 7 now and hes been through, my highschool graduation, multiple apartments, losing a parent, college graduation, and soon to be a wedding. Sketchy is the most loyal cat I have ever had and I love him regardless of the hard training to get him to stop biting. Cats are all so different. Many people also have separate bathroom slippers specifically for use in the bathroom only. Your outside footwear such as shoes don't go any further than the front door or wherever is the designated shoe area. If you go to someone else's house, the default is that you take your shoes off unless specifically told by the host not to (maybe they don't care or of it's winter and the floor would be cold, etc).

    I absolutely love spiders and always the one that has to carry them out but Keith is right, there’s a definite fear still there when one descends next to your head and drops 😂
    Also if you leave your shoes or socks on any flooring overnight, check them for spiders xo

    As a "tall' girl ( 5 11) my favorite thing is when I went on dates with guys I had met thru online dating and they said they were 6ft. Then we meet, and they're looking UP. Lying just doesn't work xD
    Always ended up dating shorter guys and it's no biggie

    As a classically trained singer and pianist, thank you for a acknowledging the beauty and complexity of “classical” music. I know it can be considered pretentious and stuffy and modern day concert culture/etiquette has contributed to that but if I’m at home listening to a recording you know I’m dancing, singing and conducting along to the music. I love pop/dance music as well and I wish there would be more of that energy from a good rock concert at a classical concert or recital. FYI Keith, the eras of written music with modern notation are Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Early Romantic, Late Romantic, and Modern. Late romantic and modern have a lot of sub-genres but I won’t list them here. If I remember correctly from my Music History classes at university , French Horn didn’t become a part of symphony orchestras until the Classical era. Maybe this is why Baroque music doesn’t really appeal to you, since there wasn’t any literature for you to play. French horn is my fav instruments btw, along with cello and oboe. Soooo rich and mellow!

    So I always just listen to the podcast when I'm at work (never actually watch it) and I didn't hear the intro (when they announce who was on this podcast) and didn't hear Eugene's voice for a while and thought "aw, is Eugene not in this one?" - that's when he said "wait, we started?" Ahahaha 😂

    I live in Canada (northern Ontario) and I have never met anyone whoo wears shoes in the house. Growing up I thought that was something that was only done on television to save time.
    I think it’s because we have snow half the year (at least!), and you’re not going to wear wet, snowy, heavy boots indoors, so it’s just habit to do it year round!

    As a girl, sleeping naked is just not an option because there is some leakage at night and so we have got to have some underwear at night.

    • @tracymcandrews1890
      @tracymcandrews1890 3 года назад +9

      Actually, depending on your body health experts suggest sleeping with no underwear since it can lock in bacteria and moisture. Thus helping to prevent future UTIs and yeast infections. I got constant yeast infections when I first got my period and this was a tip from my gyno to help regulate my bodies natural secretions. Obviously, some materials really make matters worse so a clean cotton undergarment is your friend if you don’t like sleeping commando. And, I personally don’t suggest going commando on your period since it is such a hassle haha but other times, no underwear = no problem

    About shoes in the house: normally I’m a no shoe in the house person, but with Covid and quarantine, since my home is now where I work, I like to dress up as formally as if I were to go out including shoes, because it motivates me to work more.
