    Thanks man. I tried and managed to unlock, now I'm going to remove the plates and draw them so I know what to order.

    Thanks for the video really helpful.
    I noticed that you didnt remove the caliper from the break fluid lines etc. Is the bleed required? Trying to think where air would have got in based on your process.

      Bleeding the brakes isn't really required, however we would always recommend doing it for every brake job, this will maintain the service life of the fluid.

    I mean the plates on the face, I saw that they separated a sensor for wear

  • @matedu4508
    @matedu4508 Год назад

    when I change the brake pads, I also have to change the sensor for pad wear, because I saw that my pads don't have a sensor on them, but a separate one

    • @DropTheBoxOfficial

      Not every vehicle will have a pad wear sensors, on this Q5 there is only one pad wear sensor for the rear and one for the front. The sensors are often sold separately from new pads.

    Can you change brakes without using a scanner?

    • @DropTheBoxOfficial
      @DropTheBoxOfficial  7 месяцев назад +2

      Front brakes yes. Rear brakes require the park brake to be retracted electronically, it is possible to retract the park brake by supplying 12v to the motor on the caliper but this isn't recommended.
      Thanks

    Also, if the break pad wear sensor is in good shape from the old pads does it need changing?

    • @DropTheBoxOfficial
      @DropTheBoxOfficial  9 месяцев назад

      You can certainly reuse the old wear sensor, however they are generally inexpensive and would always recommend that they are replaced due to the fatigue on the plastic components.

    Do you know how to code with vcds for q5 fy 2017, to open-close the electric trunk directly from the key. thank you

    How did you push the piston back in?

    • @DropTheBoxOfficial
      @DropTheBoxOfficial  7 месяцев назад

      Once you've retracted the electronic handbrake with your diagnostics tool, just push the piston back as you normally would either with a flat head screwdriver or wind-back tool

    How do I unlock the brake, as I press it but it doesn't come off, and the light stays on.I'm interested because I also have to change the pads, and I have to learn how to do it, so I'm interested in how to unlock the brake, so that I can then remove the wheel, the brake pads and then with vcds.

    • @DropTheBoxOfficial
      @DropTheBoxOfficial  Год назад

      Ignition on, foot on brake pedal, press park brake release button. This will release your park brake( you should hear it release). Then you need to use VCDS to retract the park brake motor of the calipers as shown in the video.

    Is this really all necessary?

    • @DropTheBoxOfficial

      This is the correct procedure as per the manufacturers specification.

      It was advised to the customer that we would recommend new discs. However they declined as they were still within tolerance.

    Is it the same procedure for front pads ? (Also with the vcds thing?)

    • @DropTheBoxOfficial
      @DropTheBoxOfficial  10 месяцев назад

      Slightly different procedure for the front, no need for vcds, just push the caliper piston back manually and replace pads.
      Thanks
