I'm about to replace all for my 2015 Q5 discs and set of pads this weekend. This tutorial came out at just the right time. Very clear and excellent video, great job.
I love how your pistons magically compressed themselves to allow the new pads to slide right in. I wish my calipers were that courteous. I had to get a special tool.
just unplug the electric brake motor. Run leads from a 12v battery to the motor piston. This will bypass all the computer requirements. Reverse polarity to drive the piston open or closed.
Sure NOW you post a step by step video. I did this last Summer on my Audi 3.2L Q5 with parts from FCP Euro. It all went together well but this project was the thing that got me to pull the trigger on a Milwaukee 3/8 Impact M18. Dealer wanted $900 for the same service. Uuummm nope.
I am customer of yours and love to see and learn from brake rotor and pad replacement DIY videos for Audi q7 2017 onwards - Front and back. This is for my personal vehicles. You VW Atlas videos but for some reason no q7
Pretty awesome. Seems simple enough, "IF" steps are followed as shown. Thank You FCP Euro. In the future I'll look into upgrading my Front Brakes to this Brembo set. Perhaps when I add a little more power to my B8.5 allroad.
Can I reuse the brake hardware pins for the anti rattling? Because my new brakes only come with the big middle metal piece not the two long pins. So can I reuse them or order new ones?
hopefully there is a similar video on how to do the rear rotor and pads with the electronic brake (release issue?) - ??? Audi Q5 TDI. 9:37 did the rear using 12 volt alarm battery with small alligator clips, and bingo, bango DONE!
Thanks for the demonstration. Super useful! The tool list at the beginning was useful too. Just curious, is replacing the rotors with the pads a "must do" or a nice to do. My rotors looks pretty smooth and hardly worn.
Does this kit comes with zinc coating on rotors ? I cannot tell in the fc website description. How reliable and differences vs the oem original audi rotors and pads ?
This info was not correct when I changed the brakes on my 2016 AUDI SQ5. The tools needed were completely different sizes and the process was different.
Just done mine. It was fun as the piston is used for the handbrake. There’s a RUclips video of a guy using a battery to move the piston back, watch it and follow it unless you have the device to plug in for retarding the piston
My Sensor Just Popped Up Today About My Brake Pads.. Change Them All Correct? & If So, Could I Just Order Them From Your Store? All Fairly New To Me To Be 100% Honest
Hi Pedro, the light can come on and be for either the front or the rear pads. You can do a visual inspection to see if you need to do the front or rears, or scan the car to see the code. From there we recommend you replace both the pads and discs on the worn-down end.
Removing the pins is the same, but need to remove the caliper off, which has 2x size 21mm bolts and then a clip holding brake hose/pipe to be able to get caliper off to install new brake pads.
After telling my mechanic that I could change the brake pads on my 2018 Audi Q5…he said I couldn’t because I need a computer to do it….is this accurate?
Yes, but only when replacing the rear pads. You need a scan tool to disengage the rear electronic parking brake. If just replacing the front brakes, you don’t need a computer.
Great instructional video, only problem i'm having is when I went to change my brake pads on my 2018 Q5 the Brembo calipers looked different. These calipers prevent me from simply sliding out the pads from the backside of the caliper. The calipers I have are Brembo but are designed with a closed back preventing the pads from being removed through the rear of the caliper. Also the clips are a bit different. Ive searched several YT vids for a tutorial with no success. Does this particular caliper need to be removed completely? Are you planning on doing a tutorial on this style calipers? Thank you in advance.
Hi Raider, The 18' model will have a slightly different setup as you saw! Not all Brembo units allow you to service the pads with the calipers still in place, you will have to remove the two bolts that hold them to the knuckle and service them that way. As soon as we get to that model, we will be sure to do a DIY on it!
i think mine was close to $3k @ Audi dealer after $100 "coupon". front and back. vs $650 for parts and some grunt work. bonus was being able to brush off rust and repaint rear calipers with high heat rustoleam, and make sure parts were greased up properly. no squeaks!
Not when they are coated like these. Non coated rotors come with oil on them in the packaging to prevent rust which should be cleaned off prior to installation.

Extremely thorough video! I changed my own brake pads and rotors by myself. Helpful video
Fantastic tutorial!! Was super straightforward, except the Pins!!! All 4 were super seized.
Great details and professional. No hacked steps. Really appreciate knowing the steps BEFORE doing the job. Thanks!
How can you not trust a guy with an Audi/VW tattoo? This gentleman is the real deal. Excellent video! Thank you.
Explained quite well compared to other videos I've seen
Glad to hear it pstecle!
Awesome - thank you guys for this! Dealership wanted way too much for new brakes and rotors all the way around. I bought the kit from you guys!
We love saving people money David, glad to hear it!

I saw that too and I was like wait!!😂😂
Thanks for the tutorial! I noticed my anti rattle clips were originally installed the other way round. I'm glad I caught this thanks!
Nice, now let's get a video on the rear with the electronic parking brake shenanigans. :)

Great video, the trick to push the pads back. Spot on. Easy Peasey!
More videos on Q5s would be great.
Lots more coming out Chris!

A little antiseize on the hub before putting the rotor on doesn't hurt. Especially since you sanded the corrosion away.
Good job thanks from France , best vidéo for change brakes

Is this job the same with having the 345mm rotors? My 2017 Q5 has the larger rotors.

Don’t you have to rewind the pistons back into the caliper or is doing it the way you have sufficient

Anything about brake pistons or are those easily backed into caliper?
It’s it the exact same for the sq5 2016 or is it slightly different

It is good practice but not required. The "must do" is replace all 4 of whatever you are replacing not sure 1 or 2 sides.
I have a q5 hybrid, is the process the same.
Should show it being done in the rears with EPB😌

Also, no lube on the clip or guide pins?
Any tips on removing those pins if they're stuck? Mine are seized, hit it with penetrating fluid but no luck.
A lot, and we mean a lot, of penetrating fluid, a small punch, and a hammer.

Thinking of doing this job on a 2018, any major differences to note?
How did it go? I just ordered my parts for my 2018 Q5 too. I think the Brembo calipers are different and more challenging.
