That tea kettle you were looking at with the game bird on it is just gorgeous. The colors and the strokes of the painter are lovely. My goodness they have quite an interesting collection of unusual items. Is that a copper teapot and creamer with what I believe is called tole painting commonly used on metal, sometimes wood, and generally for household utensils and decorative items? I even see a pitcher behind them. It is a folk art type of painting. I don't know how they mixed the paints. There are some flowers with vivid colors still blooming outdoors there. Wow, you found a couple of books on Venezuelan orchids. And a book including the story of the Wild Swans. They have some rather spacious aisles compared with many antiques centers. How do they sell enough with all that space and inventory to keep afloat? Do they take items on consignment, so they don't pay for them until after they're sold and they get their share of the sale price? I think every antique shop has at least one coal scupper. There are so many wonderful old things with which to furnish a home that one wonders why people feel compelled to buy new so often. LOL. I saw your husband holding the tea kettle. I hope that means that he put it aside at the register to buy on the way out this day.

Thank you so much for your lovely comment! I couldn't agree more, the tea kettle with the game bird is truly a work of art. I'm so glad you loved it too! As for the spacious aisles it made such a pleasant browsing experience for us. It made us want to go back soon :o) And you're absolutely right about the charm of old things - they hold a special character and history that's hard to replicate with new items. As for the coal scupper, I always see them around in antiques centres and when I saw this one, I thought 'Oh Philippa will love this one!' and I videoed it with you in mind :o) 😉 Normally antique dealers pay a monthly rent for their stalls, etc. and they normally make the money for the rent with just one item they sell (depending on the price of course) so I don't think they take items on consignment, so they don't pay for them until after they're sold and they get their share of the sale price...🤔🤔🙂 Wow, It's the first time I came across books on Venezuelan orchids or anything Venezuelan related in an antiques centre in the UK!!!!! That was really incredible! Oh, they had so many lovely old books and the story of the Wild Swans is one of my favourite stories :O)
Yes, it's always interesting to see the variety of items antique shops carry. And yes, my lovely husband took the tea kettle/pot the register and purchased it for me! 😊 See you very soon xx😘
