  • Be careful when installing Jeep Wrangler Wheels on a Jeep Commander. Even though they may be the same size, the backspacing is slightly different.

    The Commander wheels have a 44mm offset and the Wranger is 44.45mm. It's very hard to believe that the caliper to rim clearance is so tight that just 1/2mm causes the rubbing. My guess is that there is more than a 1/2mm difference in the offset of the two wheels. Thanks for doing this video as Wrangler rims are much easier to find than Commander rims.

    I had the same exact problem with my Commander. I'm afraid of spacers so for now I'll live with my old rims.

    Next time you get new tires for the Commander you should get 275/60R17
    That is probably the biggest size a commander can handle without a lift kit. It might handle 285/60R17 but I'm not sure. If anyone has tried 285/60R17 on a commander I'd like to hear about it.

      Do you think I can install 265/70 R 17 on a Commander with no lift?

    • @bohisattva4024
      @bohisattva4024 Год назад +1

      @Carlosmad 23 with 265/70/17 there is a potential for rubbing for the front tires when turning in a tight radius

    Wheel spacers are fine, man you could run 10 mm and that's like 1/4 inch and be fine 😊

    I have a 07 with the same wrangler wheels and I don’t have this problem? I wonder why mine don’t rub

  • @thegranddestination
    @thegranddestination 2 года назад +2

    Why not just put 5mm non-studded spacers so you don’t have to worry about your hub bearing and other issues? Or shop for Wrangler wheels with more or same back spacing as your Commander prior to getting this set?

    • @gamekingkiler
      @gamekingkiler Год назад +1

      I did that and the studs where to short with the added spacers ended up causing more problems

      On my Grand Cherokee WK (2005-2010) I used Wrangler JL Rubicon wheels and noticed on the front they will rub against the caliper so I put 5mm non-studded spacers and had no issues! I traveled from California to Colorado 3 times round trips and ran Hells Revenge, Poison Spider, Black Bear and Imogene Passes, Gold Mountain with no issues. All lug nuts torqued to 100lb/ft torque with very little blue lock tight on lug threads and been rotating tires fine with this set up. It’s great because it keeps wheels geometry same as factory and also during axle flex wheels tuck kn nicely in wheel wells with no rub in front and very minor in the back during full uptravel flex. Also doesnt add as much stress on bearings or take away from torque at wheels. Your set up turned our looking great too. Congrats brother🤙🏼✌🏼

      @@schaunpeterson1803 I used 2” lift kit spacers for the front, 1.5” for the rear and no spacers for the wheels...no rubbing at all and look really good.....running the Michelin 245/75/17 tires.

    Now that you've had a few months with the new wheels and spacers, how are they doing ? Thinking of putting Wrangler wheels on my Patriot. People sell stock Wrangler wheels for cheap 👍. I'm just on the fence regarding spacer/adapters.

    • @Wavetechlifeguardian
      @Wavetechlifeguardian  4 года назад

      They look and perform great! I just need to check the bolts on the spacers occasionally.

      I've had lift/spacers on commander for 5 years now. Never had issue. The check the offset. 2 inch spacers left the 255 70 18 flush with fender wells.

  • @aldee3018
    @aldee3018 3 года назад +1

    it should be more stable because the wheels sit out further. i went with after market wheels so i wouldn't need to use spacers.

      If you don't want to keep checking on the lug nuts then you can go to autozone,they sell something called locktight but it comes in different strengths but once you put it one you won't have to worry about the lugs getting loose.
