That Quadra Drive 2 is actually very impressive. It’s got front and rear ELSD (electronic limited slip diffs). It also has a t-case with true low range. I’m not a fan of all the electrical crap and would prefer manual everything, but these things can hold their own. My Jeep Grand Cherokee diesel with QD2 will out wheel my old 3rd gen 4Runner any day of the week. They definitely lack ground clearance and don’t look as good though
I've seen guys run WJs one with Quadra Drive II and the other Quadra Trac II and the Quadra Drive II was much more capable. The commander seems to be a budget dignitary's limo.
Was it in low range? (That little toggle in the centre console). That enables the limited slip. In the mud it looked like you were full open front and rear.
It was in low range but we had the abs fuse pulled. It clicked after this that we need the fuse to do the abs things and grab slipping tire etc. Worked after that 😃👍🏼
Well, I’m impressed. That wasn’t bad for it was, maybe Jeep needs to put you guys on the payroll to make commercials for them. I enjoyed the video and the content. Bruce never disappoints. 👍👍
LOL... Besides the lack of ground clearance, articulation, diff lockers and tow points, a great car for a soccer mom to get to a picnic area for the day out... now, won't somebody tell me how many cup holders it has...? If it was snow season, that is the type of car you would be out rescuing in a real jeep or Marge... people see the '4x4' badge on the back, but don't realise the 'LIMITED' part applies not only to their skills, but the car's capabilities... At least no Fords were harmed during this episode...
Absolutely zero articulation! That thing would lift a tire going over a speed bump wrong. And when it started shedding plastic in the ditch I was dying !😂
Really don't like the front end. BUT The hemi version with the qd2 has potential. Get a front bumper, lift, sliders and you got a great overlander. I'm guessing the jeep tow hooks bolt right up, Really underrated rig
I got some really heavy duty front recovery points for my Commander from HK Offroad but my rig comes with the 3.0 OM642 Mercedes Benz turbo diesel which I know wasn’t available in the USA. I love the thing. Thanks for your video.
You should start a lawsuit over the "some terrain" tires being falsely advertised as all terrain. If that lady could get millions for Red Bull not actually giving her wings, anything is possible. PS: go sob!
I'm a bit disappointed because your Commander doesn't work as it should at all. I don't know how it's possible, but for me in the field, it takes up all the wheels without skipping a spin. I call my Commander a poor man's G-Class. (Mercedes) Because off-road it acts like it has 3 differential locks. So I have 87,000 miles on it, put new original Mopar Oil with additives in the differential. Plus on top of that I have dismantled the rear stabilizer, fitted a 2" Lift chassis. + all terrain tires and on 1.4 bar (20 psi) I drive through places where when I show up people look for the helicopter that put me there :D Because nobody understands how I got there. When I don't have any special offroad vehicle specifically designed for offroad.
Cool! If highway maintenance had been doing their job and replaced the bridge, you would have been A OK, lol. I watched that rock reek havoc with the driver's side slider over and over. Ouch! So, maybe you would have made it without a pull if you had mud terrain instead of "All" terrain tires. You were so close. Impressive. I found you from watching Jeff at Goldens Gone Wheelin'. He mentioned you in his latest recovery episode. I love your attitude. I subscribed.
Gee that Commander must have a horrible ramp rating lol you need to put one of those long arm suspension set ups on it and some tow hooks definitely lol
These work on the same systems as the JK don’t they? Where it uses the brakes on the tire that loses traction? Once we plugged in the abs fuse it worked again. Doesn’t love it when it’s for extended periods in extreme conditions though
@@BruceCookfmx Not at all! These aren't even close to the same as the Quadra Trac systems. These don't use the brakes to leverage an open diff to send power to the opposing wheel. These Quadra Drive II are something else. You should look into it a little bit and then really take one of these off road. You wont have near the wheel spin for the low/no traction wheels since it uses a pump to change the characteristics of the LSD clutch packs.
I think it was that disgusting stock stance it comes out of the factory that really held you guys back from going hard. I’ve got an 07 with a 2 inch lift and granted, I’m not climbing any mountains with it, but it’ll go where a Honda Civic or the like would. I can’t wait to see the banter that went on inside that Jeep. Bruce, Tom, and Jerrod in the commander, me in the recovery Jeep. 😆 . Should be good!
A good portion didn't make it lol

I figured that if the Commander totally died and got stuck, Denny’s Jeep would be the only way home. How many big sweaty men would fit in his Jeep?

It had them. They were removed.
