Rock In Peace - Jeff, you were one of the best. I saw back with Rod Stewart in the Fillmore days and many times since including this show. Your quest for excellence and passion for forging new sounds has always been an inspiration to me.
You don't know how blessed you were to have seen Jeff Beck , I went to every concert on earth back in the day , but I never made it to one of his.......
I'm a big Rod Stewart fan and at the age of 54 I'm from the MTV generation so People Get Ready was my introduction to Jeff Beck and that glorious video with him pulling in to meet Rod on the train. I later did some beautiful research to include Rods band stuff with Jeff Beck Group and the Faces. I also got quite a taste for Ron Wood as a guitarist, composer and bassist outside of the Stonesa. I never quite made the time to listen to Jeff Beck as a solo artist. My loss entirely and is being amended daily. I think it's a big undertaking. I might go slowly to really listen with my whole heart. The soloes here by all the band are exquisite. He covers that vocal perfectly. His performance is an ideal blend of concert energy and studio precision. He was a very very clean player. Also let's note that Jeff died on Rod Stewart's birthday. 😥
This was very different from the times I've heard Jeff play it live myself (or on record). Brilliant and maybe my fave people get ready version of his. Brilliant!
Gentlemen and Gentlewomen. Enjoy the music. I suppose there's always someone somewhere that could do something better that would enhance your pleasure. But enjoy the music......!!!
have fun...but remember that Jeff Beck chose Rhonda as his full time bassist. That means a hell of a lot. What is about her playing don't you like? People like Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, B.B King, Buddy Guy, etc are/were going to have some of the best players in the world backing them up. Simple as that
Not getting picture (or decent sound) where I am now, but looked like it from the thumbnail. I've seen Jeff with him, Vinnie Colaiuta and Anika Nilles. All three times were an absolute blast. Besides the talent for, playing there's the talent for finding great players for his band, and the talent for finding amazing songs for his amazing reinterpretations.
He needs his other fingers to work the bar to get all those insane tones. It's amazing what this guy can do without all the gizmos, gadgetry, pedals and effects relied on by so many shredders today. Beck is his own signature sound....
For one thing Tal is just so cute, the way she holds that guitar, and for another thing, she was nearly an infanting running with the best of the best! What an incredible talent!
This is the last time I saw Jeff. Robert Plant came on after him..too bad Percy didn't come on for Jeff's entire and do Train Kept A Rollin' or something
The second song is "People Get Ready". Do you have a video of that ride Jeff took down his guitar neck? (I saw your other video a few days ago and was about to ask the same question for this video.) You clearly had a better camera than I did; my audio is terrible.
...doesn't matter bro...rhonda is what is in front of you, like it or move on. that's how life is..if you reject what's in front of you to pine for something that is not...you are not present, you are not in the moment...you are not here. you waste the day.
If you are hear to listen to Jeff, you can start at about 2:50 and skip the bass player showing off her flashy chops as if it were an entirely different song, while repeatedly pimping the audience for applause. But the sound quality is not good, with unpleasant speaker buzz from the bass player throughout. There are much better versions of Jeff playing this song.
Never as big a fan as I was suppose to be. I liked Rough & Ready in the early 70's. It always never got anywhere for me. Know he was good but it always put me to sleep. Bass is trying to be EVH ?
I think I agree that this bass player is not quite as articulate, deep, or beautiful as Tal, and certainly does not know how to look good as a woman, but she does bring other highlights to the show which Jeff probably decided he needed at this particular time, and I certainly would not doubt his decision. Having said that, I don't think this will last, all that riffing may be too cliche for Beck.
B gilley A TRANSVESTITE is a person who wears clothing belonging to the opposite gender. Therefore, Slave, if you own even a SINGLE pair of jeans or pants, you are, by definition, a transvestite. “A woman must not wear men’s clothing, nor should a man dress up in women’s clothing, for anyone who does this is offensive to the LORD your God.” Deuteronomy 22:5 Are you a TRANSVESTITE, Slave?

Curtis Mayfield is responsible for everything from Jimi Hendrix to RNB. What a legend. Also: If you're over 35, NEVER ever dye your hair unless your name is Flea, this is an epidemic. Jeff Beck was over rated.
I keep coming back cause I love this song...I love Jeff Beck - the soul! - but I also love what the keyboardist does here, rearranging the chords and beautiful touch.
Jeff Beck is more than just one of the world's best guitar player but he also is a great hot rod builder and mechanic. His wife is an aweome artist with painting people's faces.
Jeff is unbelievable. He’s not in this planet anymore, but his music remains. What a band! Rhonda Smith, bass (Prince), Jason Rabelo, keys, and Narada Michael Walden, drums (Mahavishnu Orchestra).
I don’t know her history, but didn’t she play for Michael Jackson? Anyway, I had the privilege of seeing her with Beck from 15 feet away in 2019. She is amazing.
AS Crazy as it sounds... Id Give anything but my Girlfriend, to have Jeffs Talent For a day! You just cant measure the amount of Talent hes got, Even Other legends Site him as their choice for Greatest guitarist!
well these women are the best in the world Jeff s no slouch he is right up there in Music and he has great taste in woman and Music ....she is awesome I am totally Humbled
I try to try to appreciate Rhonda but I think she is the most overrated bass guitar player I have ever heard. I'm sure she got in with Prince because she is a puppet and will do exactly what she is told. FYI my favorite bassist that played with Jeff Beck is Carlos from back in the day. Yes she is better than me, not by much and I am average-at-best

Absolutely love the keyboard, sorry I don't know his name!
Jeff's music starts @2:50 or so.
I don't know which has me more enthrawled, his playing or the fact that he still has all that hair!
No one plays the volume pot on a Strat like Beck!
R.I.P.
Rhonda Smith?
Awesome! i saw him @ the Spectrum in October 1980 and w/Stevie Ray Vaughan @ the Spectrum in 1989.
I saw him with srv . After watching that show , Jeff should have come on first
My muse…god damn
So very beautiful song❤Jeff Beck more than amazing❤❤❤
RIP Jeff Beck
Big Rhonda!
a real pity for those clippings, but what an extraordinary interpretation, great!
Who top that solo on People Get Ready with Jeff Beck
Awesome
He never plays a bad note. Never expected him to die from a bacterial infection. He was supposedly in top physical condition.
🙏
I guess I was wrong on who influenced John Mayer. Its obvious its Jeff now...
Virtuoso guitarist,Jeff Beck!
Mistrz,Mistrz,
Mistr
Mark, you going to Jazzfest this year?

Who is the one on the keyboard? Smooooooth!
Hey - Narada on drums ??

Dam...I said GOD DAMN YEs!
Can you turn up the cymbals?
Songs starts at 2:55
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Beck is picking his leads with his thumb. How long has been doing this, first I've noticed.
He needs his other fingers to work the bar to get all those insane tones. It's amazing what this guy can do without all the gizmos, gadgetry, pedals and effects relied on by so many shredders today. Beck is his own signature sound....
Well that's not Tal, who is she?
For one thing Tal is just so cute, the way she holds that guitar, and for another thing, she was nearly an infanting running with the best of the best! What an incredible talent!
Er
I’taint Tal.😊
It's all about 121, not 123, Mr beck.
1st weekend
+Mark Konings 2nd weekend OK? I was there...I never forgot that saturday 1st of may! Great post, thx.
Nie próbowałem na gitarze basowej . Mój błąd wiem bardziej Jeff Beck ... taką gitarę chciałbym mieć.. On the train to Jordan
Brilliant! However, there is nothing standard of Curtis Mayfield. RIP to the both of these masters.
This is the last time I saw Jeff. Robert Plant came on after him..too bad Percy didn't come on for Jeff's entire and do Train Kept A Rollin' or something

@willemkerpel1 she passed the age limit
Whose Rhonda?
I think she's from Halifax, Nova Scotia.
She played with Prince.
Jeff sure knows how to pick bass players. Rhonda plays the hell out of the bass, and is beautiful, too.
...doesn't matter bro...rhonda is what is in front of you, like it or move on. that's how life is..if you reject what's in front of you to pine for something that is not...you are not present, you are not in the moment...you are not here. you waste the day.
:)))))
@coal1987 She has reason to be

Bass is trying to be EVH ?
Where is Tal Wilkenfield???!!!
Yeah or "pitching a perfect game"!!
Rhonda has chops, but the solo has nothing to do with the song...just a lot of chops, sound and fury.
dbshore1 it's not part of the song, so why would it?
What is it with Jeff Beck and female bass players.....no disrespect to their talent of course! I hear that Susie Quatro might be looking for a gig :)
I hate the sound stratocaster with a marshall ... and the bassist did not make vibrate ...
Ghastly audio!!!
So what
What was that mess that started out the video? Terrible.
I think I agree that this bass player is not quite as articulate, deep, or beautiful as Tal, and certainly does not know how to look good as a woman, but she does bring other highlights to the show which Jeff probably decided he needed at this particular time, and I certainly would not doubt his decision. xxx. thx
NOBODY GUITAR SHREDS BETTER THAN JEFF BECK !!!!!!
Joe-
That’s not shredding. It’s playing melodically.
Off of the vocal line.
Shredding is Jason Becker.
I keep coming back cause I love this song...I love Jeff Beck - the soul! - but I also love what the keyboardist does here, rearranging the chords and beautiful touch.

How Hell did did he do that without a pick? RIP Jeff Beck.
Love and miss you Jeff. Thank you for all the truly beautiful music that you shared with us. Bless your soul ❤
Rhonda Smith is fabulous! Astonishing! How come I haven't found her before?
I don’t know her history, but didn’t she play for Michael Jackson? Anyway, I had the privilege of seeing her with Beck from 15 feet away in 2019. She is amazing.

Hard to beat Uncle Jeff,,,in any venue,,,,
If you don't like Rhonda Smith, you should stop listening to music. Tal is great. Rhonda is great. Music is not a competition.
well these women are the best in the world Jeff s no slouch he is right up there in Music and he has great taste in woman and Music ....she is awesome I am totally Humbled
I don't like her. I listen to music.

What a stupid thing to say
No one can say that she is not playing this music.
Great bass playing
