    Kidd was robbed of the 2001-02 MVP award. He took a dormant franchise in the New Jersey Nets and led them to two straight Finals appearances.
    His career will forever be defined by his work in New Jersey because he changed the fortunes of Nets within one day of training camp.

    I remember reading an article about Kidd in Sports Illustrated, while he was in high school. It had a photo of him surrounded by letters, which were representative of the many offers he received to play college basketball. More often than not, kids (no pun intended) don't live up to the hype, but this kid surpassed all expectations. He was a great point guard, who elevated the play of his teammates.

    I still remember watching him in college, and it was easy to see that he was going to have a nice career. He should have definitely been an MVP once or twice during his run. Of all of the great point guards in league history, he may be in my top 10. The league has been blessed with some insane talent at the position, top 5 would be pushing it in my eyes.

    • @toppdogg2815

    • @wbdrugstrat
      @wbdrugstrat 6 лет назад

      I thought about him as a top 5, but could not go there. I have Magic, Isiah, Stockton, Oscar, and 5 is loaded with players, but it may be Curry' spot to lose, as he has redefined the position. I think that Paul needs to be in there before Kidd is considered. But there are also some old school gods, like Cousy and Frazier who need to be in the running.
      The thing is that the game has evolved so much, that comparing point guards is extremely difficult, as the position is unrecognizable today when comparing it to back in the day.

      I would definitely put him in the conversation, but I am not putting all my chips towards that argument. I think that Kidd was fantastic, and an easy choice for the hall, but I like Stockton better, and I would put Iverson (which is a name that I originally missed in my comment) there as well. I definitely agree that Kidd is in the conversation though, and it would be doing the game a disservice otherwise. I am definitely not hating on the man.
