I think Dave makes a point here in OnePlus "trying" to reconnect to their roots by giving the ppl value for money with this 10t. Like he said, we get great specs with a flagship soc in a cheaper price range. But I think a lot of oneplus's value came from the software more than hardware. That combined with the alert slider, flagship specs, and not wasting money on fringe features was what made OnePlus OnePlus. Like he said, I can appreciate what they're doing here besides the decision with the alert slider (I HATE that). But OnePlus will never be OnePlus as long as the software experience isn't what it once was.
OP 7 Pro is still the best phone OnePlus has ever made. Until they make a phone as competitive and unique as that, they just aren't worth considering imo
Honestly why though I own the s22 ultra and the iPhone 13 but OnePlus still makes great phones what's wrong with their phones now than 4 years ago when everybody was praising them when their phones weren't as good as Samsung and LG which by the way all these RUclipsrs ran out of business LG regularly made ultimate flagship phones with the v line and these RUclipsrs for some reason decided they wanted to bash them every year and say well they're just trying to copy Samsung blah blah blah and they did the same thing to HTC who was the Titan of the smartphone world at one time literally made the best smartphones out but they got ran into the ground because one time they did something wrong with the speakers and all the RUclipsrs turned on them the same way they've turned on one plus it doesn't make sense these are clearly the best OnePlus phones ever made but everybody's running them in the ground yet when they made cheap phones that had a lot of specs everybody loved them
OnePlus had this enthusiast vibe till 2019 (OnePlus 7 series). It felt like they were really trying to bring the best they can to their customers. Now, it looks like they pissed in curd and selling it as buttermilk....
imo the OP 8 & 9 were good phones that kept at least a little bit of the OnePlus identity. But I think the Nothing company will carry the torch going forward
With the exception of the alert slider, I feel like all the features OP cut to hit $649 were smart. I don't use wireless charging. I barely ever use my 9 Pro or S22's (work phone) telephoto cameras because they're so inferior to the main sensors. Zoom isn't worth the detail and color loss. I hate curved screens because finding a good tempered glass protector is impossible. 1440p is largely pointless on a smartphone. I will die on this hill. I'd rather have a plastic frame than metal if it means improved signal reliability and structural integrity. Metal is nice, but the antenna cutouts basically erase any benefit to build strength. I'm actually tempted to trade in my 9 Pro for the 10T and just use that for the next 3-4 years. It'd only cost me $250 to get a 256/16GB phone and then I can check back in on the smartphone scene when something really impressive happens again.
The hill that I'll die on is that wireless charging is stupid. It's slow, worse for your battery, isn't truly wireless, and makes it difficult to use your phone while charging. I don't buy added convenience, I've owned phones with wireless charging before and tried it out, but always ended up plugging my phone in because I'm not lazy. And with superfast charging like Supervooc, it makes wireless charging even more pointless.
Im in the exact same boat! I have a base 9 and can get that traded in for updated support and a faster phone. Its super nice. Its simple and keeps to the root of stuff that works. Only reason I traded in or changed any phones before were because of actual issues that made them not work well.
No joke, one of the reasons why I'd pick another oneplus after my Nord is the slider. It may sound stupid, but it's far more useful to me than a great camera system. If there's no slider it's like any other phone to me and I can just look for a mid range motorola, which has real stock android rather than the oppo thing they're trying to fool us into now
True but Motorala is notoriously bad with software support. They have the worst update commitment in the industry, and OP still beats them in bang for buck.
I know, you're telling me. When I switched from my OnePlus X to the Moto X4. I really missed the alert slider. I am so glad to have back with my current OnePlus Nord (1st gen), but if this is the direction OnePlus is heading, I'll be looking at another manufacturer. Also not keen on them merging Oxygen OS with Color OS.
I was interested until you said about the lack of alert slider. Like you, that was one of the best unique features of OnePlus phones. No alert slider, no purchase from me.
@@ryanpellegrini I think you should go ahead and buy one. This particular phone is good - it's just that hardcore fans are crying because OnePlus was never really on their side and their whole "never settle" ploy was just marketing to sell more phones (shocked pickachu face ). Get a phone that's a good fit for you and works well - not because you think the huge company behind it cares about you.
The first time I hear a reviewer mention that the room climate is important for extreme fast charging - its the first time I hear this and it just makes sense :D I was wondering sometimes why the phones do not hit their advitised speeds - I mean sure a lot of it will just be the manufacturer straightup lying but in this case MKBHD said in this video that he actually gets the 20 minute charging - so yeah I guess it really comes down to room temperature in this case - very interesing :)
Apparently the speed of the charging depends on the country's plug output. Like from US where its 110v, it charges upto 125 watts, and where its 220v, it charges upto 160 watts.
@@sudeeproy7829 I am a techy guy - heck I even have my own tech channel - and yeah sure I know that room temperature can influence any number of performance metrics - the point is when it comes to this extremly fast charging I just never thought of it and hadn't made the connection between both pieces of knowledge yet
Was Dave keeping his screen on while charging tho? In the past I noticed some kernels would reduce the wattage when the screen is on to prevent overheating (although here it shouldn’t technically do that because all the heating should happen in the brick)
Yeah, somehow this often gets overlooked, but OxygenOS was a BIG selling point for OnePlus and literally one of the only reasons to get a OnePlus phone over a competitors (Especially since they raised prices, they are no longer "flagship killers" but rather flagship devices themselve). But OxygenOS is dead now. ColorOS is the way going forward and it's inferior to Oxygen imo and many feel like that. It's against the essence of OnePlus and I honestly don't see a place for them anymore. I will rock my OnePlus 8 Pro until it dies or gets unusable, though OnePlus is on the path to achieve that. Every update introduces more bugs and more sloppy Oxygen to Color OS transformation, it's sad. So it will be my last OnePlus phone. Honestly, there is literally no point for OnePlus anymore with their software turning to sh*t. Hardwarewise they were always inferior but at least cheaper than their competitors. That is also no longer the case, so why would anyone still buy a OnePlus device?
0:25 to be fair, the price of almost everything has been going up steadily. Apple and Samsung are more so to blame when they came out with phones with crazy prices, and many other brands followed suit with price increments too.
Apple is kinda the least to blame here because Apple is literally the only one that hasn't increased the pricing of their phones in over 4 years - since 2017.
To be fair samsung and apple have been doing this since day 1. OnePlus was supposed to be the outlier.. their whole thing is to be better. They *chose* to do the same thing
@@Raja995mh33 They've always been pretty expensive. And i can't rmb which model, but i think it was starting from 11 or 12, they had quite a bump in price too. Then Samsung and the rest slowly but surely followed suit.

U may not believe... I m still rocking my OP5, since 2017... Still feels great(except frame drops while gaming, smaller screen, weaker battery)... Alert Slider is what i love about my phone
Same here, I will just need to replace the battery soon because it's getting a bit annoying to charge it twice a day. It'll be probably fast enough for another 4 years. And the alert slider is something I really like. I feel like the best days of 1+ ended around the 6/6T, most likely I won't get another 1+.
Same here, I have used one plus 6 for 4 years, man it was perfect phone had headphone jack, oxygen OS all of them were great. Right now I am using one plus 9rt oxygen OS based on colourOs is pathetic to use latest oxygen OS is a joke.
It's so natural for me to have the alert slider that I thought all the newer flagships have it nowadays. I started googling and only OP, a single vivo phone and Apple has some simplified version of it.
Thanks for the detailed review, I got the 10T 2 days ago; its performance is excellent and the camera is good! I love the smooth display and I play COD which doesn't make the phone heat up so the cooling system is working fine. The back of the phone has texture on it and it attracts more dust so I'll just cover it with skins from Gadgetshieldz and I don't have to worry about scratches and dust!👍
This isn't a replacement for the 10 Pro. Rather, it is a OnePlus 10R with snapdragon SoC and jacked up price. OnePlus used to stand out because of their great hardware that was coupled with superfast software experience. But now, they are just another generic brand that hype gimmicky features.

I am in the exact same spot! Have a 7pro for 3y now, has a cracked screen and the battery is getting tired, I bought 3 or 4 phones, including the 9pro, iphone 13 and others, and returned them since my 7pro was just better even with problems. Was sold on this 10T until he mentions no slider to mute the phone, that was honestly one of the reasons why I returned some of the other phones. I am hopeful for the pixel 7 in October.
Same exact thing for me. OnePlus 7t working perfectly still. Hit the peak of smartphone tech. Everything is about those gimmicky extra features now. Just give me a damn good phone with no corners cut anywhere at a price that isn't astronomical 😂. I got my 7t for under $500 with a student discount back in 2019. 1080p oled is all you ever need in a phone. You want 4k? Get a TV. If only the market stop demanding for faster performance chip when clearly most don't maximize the usage.. we might never be in this position of paying close to a kidney for a phone
Getting lower temps with a case on is pretty notable. Most cases just cause temp increases. So while it may not make a noticeable improvement in performance, not making a noticeable reduction in performance is pretty good.
I think the cooling case may have worked better if the phone had glass or metal back. I assume it is made of plastic which doesn't transfer heat very well

It's an amazing phone, for an awesome price. The only issue with it is the lack of alert slider. But quite honestly, the OnePlus 10 Pro is the better deal.
Everytime I see a new OnePlus phone come out I am left with the same feeling. I'm just happy with my OnePlus 7 pro, in my eyes a near perfect phone. Only needs better cameras. If the phone I have now breaks, I'm just getting the same one.
I have the oneplus 7 and it's been solid, I really don't see the point in upgrading, especially now since they removed the alert slider which imo is much more useful than a great camera setup.

They need to bring back the pop-up camera, truly full screen, private, and actually exceptionally durable and fast, with coding where if it senses it's falling it auto closes, they had this in the OnePlus 7 pro and 7t pro models and it would give oneplus an identity of its own since it's no longer the spec to dollar champion
An awful lot of additional compromising for a company I am already compromising for- I'm not sure what the justification is on the slider, nor on keeping 4 cameras instead of reducing down for a cheaper product, if that was their goal to begin with
Ever since Oneplus 7pro I feel like Oneplus became a totally different company. Not the company I know and not the company they aim to be. Im not sure this company is worth mentioning anymore when everything this company was known for now is almost non existing. 🙃
Still using a 7T Pro with no plans to upgrade, works just fine and can still run just about anything. I can't see myself going from a screen with no punchole to a screen with a punchole. The motorized camera has been great; even after using face unlock all this time and not being overly gentle with it, it still works. I prefer the privacy of knowing the camera is physically unable to see me yknow? Great vid as always!
Perfect phone meets all my needs. I pre ordered one. I've never had a oneplus phone before so I don't mind that they removed the alert slider. The main camera pictures look good enough to me. I don't take pictures much anyways. The performance and fast charging is what I want.
Lo mismo yo, estoy esperando por el mío, no me importa el alert slider aunque tengo un oneplus 8t y jamás usé el alert slider, tampoco me importa que sea de plástico por la parte de atrás ya que uso siempre la funda.
The greatest W here is the centering of the selfie camera....THANK GOD. Ever since I had the S10E and the rumors about the future OnePlus devices was coming out I was dying for them to center the hole punch because it just looks cleaner and doesn't screw with letterboxed videos and now it's finally here omg. It just looks so much better being aligned in the center.
@@realsleepi Nah man it's so annoying in the corner. It doesn't line up with the rest of the phone at all. It's like every time I would go to look at my S10e and it was sitting in the corner it would drive me crazy.

Not a lot of thoughts on the device itself. Except that I am sad about the alert sider being gone. However, Dave, this is the first time I am commenting on a tech video. The quality of this video just blew me away. Absolutely loved the graphics, the transitions. Thank you for producing this!
@@sibis4608 After 4:50 there’s no value addition to the video. From 4:30 to 5:30 over-explanation on alert slider. Later on spending too much time explaining the cover. Must say it’s still better than all the crap unboxing videos out there. But once you reach a level (like Dave has), perfection is expected from you; not desired.
The best SoC built round an otherwise mid range phone did mean something back when phones needed all the processing power they could get. Now mid range chips are powerful enough to provide a great experience. ‘Nothings’ phone one provides a better balance of compromises on a budget for 2022 than this 10T.
About the glacier mat case: You should've tested this against a normal TPU case or something because that should block heat from dissipating. Would be interesting to see the three scenarios even though I doubt there is any significant benefit.
It is not bad actually if you're looking for a powerful device with decent camera. However long time OnePlus fans will know how much they have settled and became the sole thing they swore to destroy - a generic flagship smartphone.
Yeah that's the only issue I have with them too, but again, if you buy their phones from the midrange even you know you're not gonna use it for more than 2-3 years. So yeah they're kinda good i guess
Imo the most important thing is the lower point, seems like OnePlus has finally identified this as their golden spectrum. That might be the reason why they could perform surprisingly well in the incoming worldwide recession.
I am using the 10T I love this phone he doesn't point out that the new cooling system in the phone keeps this phone cool. I game intensively and the phone never over heats.

Honestly why though I own the s22 ultra and the iPhone 13 but OnePlus still makes great phones what's wrong with their phones now than 4 years ago when everybody was praising them when their phones weren't as good as Samsung and LG which by the way all these RUclipsrs ran out of business LG regularly made ultimate flagship phones with the v line and these RUclipsrs for some reason decided they wanted to bash them every year and say well they're just trying to copy Samsung blah blah blah and they did the same thing to HTC who was the Titan of the smartphone world at one time literally made the best smartphones out but they got ran into the ground because one time they did something wrong with the speakers and all the RUclipsrs turned on them the same way they've turned on one plus it doesn't make sense these are clearly the best OnePlus phones ever made but everybody's running them in the ground yet when they made cheap phones that had a lot of specs everybody loved them
8t is nice too
I had the 7 pro and am still using the 8 pro. 8 pro is better IMO
That is a visceral expression I’m going to remember that holy
@@PasteurizedLettuce right?
Well that analogy is accurate af. 😂
Now with promised 4 years of updates, they are back on track.
Wow thank god phone manufacturers don’t make phones for people with your needs , we’d be back in 2015
The hill that I'll die on is that wireless charging is stupid.
@@VaunShiz Those features are useless... Paying for something that you don't use often is just stupid. It's better to get rid of it
@@VaunShiz Ironically all current flagships meet his needs. They just got extra's, just not well done.
Im in the exact same boat! I have a base 9 and can get that traded in for updated support and a faster phone. Its super nice. Its simple and keeps to the root of stuff that works. Only reason I traded in or changed any phones before were because of actual issues that made them not work well.
Best channel for me! Just love everything about it.
@@Ojasion samsung can fit a pen inside their phone, removing the alert slider just to make space is a silly excuse by oneplus
Same here, if Oneplus can't have alert slider I rather switch to any other brand.
They became the villain at the end. Will not buy a oneplus or recommend them.
Could you tell me why? Ive wanted to buy one for a while

@@ryanpellegrini I think you should go ahead and buy one. This particular phone is good - it's just that hardcore fans are crying because OnePlus was never really on their side and their whole "never settle" ploy was just marketing to sell more phones (shocked pickachu face ).

The first time I hear a reviewer mention that the room climate is important for extreme fast charging - its the first time I hear this and it just makes sense :D
I was wondering sometimes why the phones do not hit their advitised speeds - I mean sure a lot of it will just be the manufacturer straightup lying but in this case MKBHD said in this video that he actually gets the 20 minute charging - so yeah I guess it really comes down to room temperature in this case - very interesing :)
I think Every techy guy knows this!
@@PixelSheep ooo
Was Dave keeping his screen on while charging tho? In the past I noticed some kernels would reduce the wattage when the screen is on to prevent overheating (although here it shouldn’t technically do that because all the heating should happen in the brick)
Would appreciate if the OS is covered as well, the one of the strong points for OP was clean OS and regular updates
OS is definitely going downhill.
Sadly OnePlus OS (Oxygen OS) is merging with Oppo's Color OS.
Damn that transition of showing a 360 view of phone and then grabbing it right out of the frame. Kudos 👍🏽

Time for an episode of setup tour Dave!

U may not believe... I m still rocking my OP5, since 2017... Still feels great(except frame drops while gaming, smaller screen, weaker battery)... Alert Slider is what i love about my phone
I've been using the OP 6T close to 4 years now, I can see myself going the distance with this phone. The alert slider being gone is very sad news
SAME I love my 6T I've got it in the special purple-midnight-black gradient which is so so cute.. i wouldn't trade it for anything
Same here, I have used one plus 6 for 4 years, man it was perfect phone had headphone jack, oxygen OS all of them were great. Right now I am using one plus 9rt oxygen OS based on colourOs is pathetic to use latest oxygen OS is a joke.
@@kamil030201 how can the battery be replaced? I'm interested as I'm still rocking the OnePlus 6 as well
It's so natural for me to have the alert slider that I thought all the newer flagships have it nowadays. I started googling and only OP, a single vivo phone and Apple has some simplified version of it.
How come people missed this at @2:06 , Dave just wrote in 2MP MEME for the Macro Camera. Definitely not a typo. Lol. We see you, Dave.
Dude your editing and graphics skills just went kaio ken. When you grabbed that spinning phone🔥
The T brand has always been a cheaper version you moron.
Man the way you grabbed the phone in the beginning out of a transitioning animation or fottage was just awesome!
That notification slider was such a great thing. Can't believe they just removed it.
probably oppo's decision so oneplus doesnt grab sells from oppo/vivo/realme
The transition you pulled off when you picked up the phone was so good I had to rewatch it couple times 👌🏽
Watching this on my OP 10T/Ace Pro 16/512 with Oxygen OS. No slider but whatever, amazing hardware so get over it.
I got the 10T for 550 euros. It's such an amazing phone for this price. The fast charging is sick af. Totally recommend it.
550 is kinda expensive, Its around $360 where I live, pretty good
Dave, that transition shot you did where you grabbed the phone as it was seemingly suspended and rotating like that was 🤯. Hats off bro
I had to rewind a few times 🤣
for someone who uses camera only to take utilitarian pictures, games a bit and need ultra fast charging, Its tailored for me.

The full screen display and the comfort of 90HZ which doesn't milk battery as much as 120hz but still a massive improvement over 90hz is just perfect in every way
Camera is mediocre but hey it works above average and I don't influence or shit

Most of what I wanna do for productivity, i do it with my laptop which I've tuned it to for easing up my daily routines
I know right, still holding on to my OP5T. None of the options in the market now hits the sweet spot.. hoping for a better 2023
Get a TV. Hate it when there are BASIC B*TCH consumers complaining about not having wireless charging when clearly it is an inferior technology to quick charging.
If only the market stop demanding for faster performance chip when clearly most don't maximize the usage.. we might never be in this position of paying close to a kidney for a phone
That transition at the beginning was dope
I think it's a great phone with some great potential. I do hate the slider going away, but I don't think you can get a better value currently
Dude, that intro was so cool. How did you do that. That was so fun to watch. I just keep watching it. That was so cool.
Getting lower temps with a case on is pretty notable. Most cases just cause temp increases. So while it may not make a noticeable improvement in performance, not making a noticeable reduction in performance is pretty good.
I think the cooling case may have worked better if the phone had glass or metal back. I assume it is made of plastic which doesn't transfer heat very well
I love how at 2:50 he mentions flat screens in that brief list of why oneplus was so beloved back then.

Been using OP 3T since 2017, it hitches a lot nowadays so I am looking for a new phone. Will not choose OP primarily because of degraded software experience. No alert slider?? Final nail in the coffin.
Hitching? I heard the original Oxygen OS was long lasting and wouldn't degrade like OneUI.
That picking up the phone spinning that looked like b-roll, so smooth seems like magic! 😱
I'm more impressed of how you got the phone rotate in mid aid and grabbed it out the frame than the actual phone itself.

An awful lot of additional compromising for a company I am already compromising for- I'm not sure what the justification is on the slider, nor on keeping 4 cameras instead of reducing down for a cheaper product, if that was their goal to begin with
your honesty makes this my favorite tech channel
Ever since Oneplus 7pro I feel like Oneplus became a totally different company. Not the company I know and not the company they aim to be. Im not sure this company is worth mentioning anymore when everything this company was known for now is almost non existing. 🙃

I would consider this as a next phone. The alert slider would have been nice ... but I don't have one right now, so not a huge deal.
They're pretty much a mixture of oppo and realme now and they have settled in every possible aspect will certainly not recommend OnePlus to anyone instead it's better to go with pixel or Xiaomi
Not a lot of thoughts on the device itself. Except that I am sad about the alert sider being gone. However, Dave, this is the first time I am commenting on a tech video. The quality of this video just blew me away. Absolutely loved the graphics, the transitions. Thank you for producing this!

Sad to see Dave stressing to much on 'Not so important' features. Would love for him to keep things precise; like in his older videos.
I don't think he wasted any time here; what features do you consider to be 'Not so important'?
@@sibis4608 After 4:50 there’s no value addition to the video.
From 4:30 to 5:30 over-explanation on alert slider. Later on spending too much time explaining the cover. Though the last thirty seconds of a debrief were still good, there’s still around 3 minutes of irrelevant explanation in an 8 minute video. That is around 30%. Not expected of Dave.
Must say it’s still better than all the crap unboxing videos out there. But once you reach a level (like Dave has), perfection is expected from you; not desired.
The alert slider is such an iconic OnePlus feature, seeing it gone isn't a deal breaker but it IS weird
The best SoC built round an otherwise mid range phone did mean something back when phones needed all the processing power they could get. Now mid range chips are powerful enough to provide a great experience. ‘Nothings’ phone one provides a better balance of compromises on a budget for 2022 than this 10T.
What balance ?!! Nothing phone is a piece of trash comparing to the 10t
The editing of this video is 🔥🔥🔥
I’ll say it once and I’ll say it again. OnePlus peaked with the 7 Pro and have gone downhill ever since
As an iPhone guy, I always had a soft spot for this brand. One of it is because of the alert slider. It was iPhone-like, and the speed is great.
OnePlus Nord 2T has an alert slider
Xiaomi actually kills it and makes way better phones right now than OnePlus.
yes but atleast for me, miui is a dealbreaker. They also dont have good longterm software support even on their flagships
Yeah that's the only issue I have with them too, but again, if you buy their phones from the midrange even you know you're not gonna use it for more than 2-3 years. So yeah they're kinda good i guess

I think it's a winner in my opinion , just the storage space and the camera and cooling feature is a winner, I have the one plus 8 and it gets hot so I'm gonna trade it in for this one .
I agree. The alert slider was synonymous with OnePlus. It was stupid of them to remove it.
But for a budget phone it's ok. Although the OnePlus Nord 2 has it and it's cheaper.
the slider and software and bang for buck made me love and recommend oneplus. They will never bring back the near stock feel of oxygen os. So they will never see me again. Hopefully the nothing phone can fill the void in a couple of years.
