The pricing on this is good considering it has a great chip, fast charging, and big battery. But, like you, I don't think it's worth buying considering what's lacking. I could've lived with the lack of wireless charging and slightly worse cameras (that ultrawide was really bad) but the alert slider and OxygenOS are key traits of OnePlus phones.

going from curved screen to flat screen is an improvement to me.
A curved screen is like the notch, it's purely for aesthetics and actually is a step back in the functionality of the device. The ideal form of a display is a flat, uninterrupted rectangle that has nothing to obscure parts of it (like a notch) or distort parts of it (like screen curves)

I think Dave makes a point here in OnePlus "trying" to reconnect to their roots by giving the ppl value for money with this 10t. Like he said, we get great specs with a flagship soc in a cheaper price range. But I think a lot of oneplus's value came from the software more than hardware. Ppl loved OnePlus before because it wasn't buggy and ran a clean oxygen OS. That combined with the alert slider, flagship specs, and not wasting money on fringe features was what made OnePlus OnePlus. Like he said, I can appreciate what they're doing here besides the decision with the alert slider (I HATE that). But OnePlus will never be OnePlus as long as the software experience isn't what it once was.

I'm still using the oneplus 7 pro after more than 3 years.
It's still works excellent and I haven't seen in this time any phone that made me think about upgrading.
Yes, there are a little improvements in camera quality or chips but nothing to crazy
Update: I ordered yesterday the new pixel 7 pro. It has the same name so I hope I won't be disappointed lol.
I will receive it on Monday and I will keep updating my experience with you
update 2: after using the new pixel 7 pro for about a month I have a few notes to share.
camera quality - much better than the Oneplus. it's a significant update compared to that phone. it snaps a photo very quick and very good. video quality is unmatched. I've been in Iron Meiden's concert and shoot videos in 5-12X zoom and it was excellent quality. selfie camera also much better! you can shoot in either 1X or 0.7X for group selfies.
performance - excellent so far. it's snappy and very battery efficient. it comes out of the box in 1080p so the first thing I did was to change it to 2K and turn on always on display. I feel like it does a good job of switching between apps, displaying notifications and overall battery management.
    * There are some really nice google features that I adore:
    1. Magic Eraser - In 80% of the times it works awesome (after you've taken a photo and the system noticed there are some people in the background, it prompts an option to erase them and it usually does it fantastic, my friends were blown away).
    2. Apps suggestions - this feature is just AMAZING. basically you have 8 apps that always change based on your use and the time of the day. 4 icons on the bottom of your home screen and 4 icons on the top of your app drawer.
I don't know how they did it so good, but after about 2 weeks it learns your behavior and displays exactly the apps you thought on checking at any moment.
    3. songs recognition - it works excellent with English songs but sometime struggles with foreign languages. It creates a list of songs you listened to so you can scroll through it whenever you want.
there are more cool features but those ones I really like!!!
charging - In that department there are some pros and some cons. the pros is that it can last easily a full day and you can charge it wirelessly which is very convenient, especially if you buy the pixel stand. the con is that it charges pretty slow, much slower than the Oneplus, so if you do find yourself on a low battery you can get a little bit frustrated.
overall thoughts - I'm not regretting this upgrade, I think it's a great option for anyone thinking about buying a new smartphone. It has minor problems like the hole punch comparing to the whole screen experience on the Oneplus 7 pro and slower wired charging, but you get so many upgrades with it that you forget the cons.

With the exception of the alert slider, I feel like all the features OP cut to hit $649 were smart. I don't use wireless charging. I barely ever use my 9 Pro or S22's (work phone) telephoto cameras because they're so inferior to the main sensors. Zoom isn't worth the detail and color loss. I hate curved screens because finding a good tempered glass protector is impossible. 1440p is largely pointless on a smartphone. I will die on this hill. I'd rather have a plastic frame than metal if it means improved signal reliability and structural integrity. Metal is nice, but the antenna cutouts basically erase any benefit to build strength.
I'm actually tempted to trade in my 9 Pro for the 10T and just use that for the next 3-4 years. It'd only cost me $250 to get a 256/16GB phone and then I can check back in on the smartphone scene when something really impressive happens again.

The hill that I'll die on is that wireless charging is stupid. It's slow, worse for your battery, isn't truly wireless, and makes it difficult to use your phone while charging. I don't buy added convenience, I've owned phones with wireless charging before and tried it out, but always ended up plugging my phone in because I'm not lazy. Yeah, somehow this often gets overlooked, but OxygenOS was a BIG selling point for OnePlus and literally one of the only reasons to get a OnePlus phone over a competitors (Especially since they raised prices, they are no longer "flagship killers" but rather flagship devices themselve). But OxygenOS is dead now. ColorOS is the way going forward and it's inferior to Oxygen imo and many feel like that. It's against the essence of OnePlus and I honestly don't see a place for them anymore. I will rock my OnePlus 8 Pro until it dies or gets unusable, though OnePlus is on the path to achieve that. Every update introduces more bugs and more sloppy Oxygen to Color OS transformation, it's sad. So it will be my last OnePlus phone. Honestly, there is literally no point for OnePlus anymore with their software turning to sh*t. Hardwarewise they were always inferior but at least cheaper than their competitors. I am rocking a 7pro and was sold on this 10T until you said there is not mute slider. Will wait for the pixel 7 as planed. Darn it, I had hope for a minute there...
