You know your boy is back to check out this 8-core unit. You guys ask for an install video, YOU GUYS GET ONE! Pretty long, but I know you guys like it that way ;).
I will do full review/comparison later after i get more time with the unit. I also want to mess with custom roms and root things to make this thing killer.
Ask questions below, you know i'll do my best to help you.
I was able to get this exact head unit installed in a 17 BRZ with steering wheel controls, reverse camera, and all speakers to work, if anyone needs help. This video and the content in the description helped a lot. Thanks!
How did you get the front speakers on the dash to work mine aren’t working and do you know if it’s possible to setup a amp and subwoofers onto this?
@@nate6262 All you have to do is connect pin 9 in the aftermarket 24 pin harness to your orange "auto amp" wire that comes with the iDoing unit.
Did you just splice the brown wire with the auto amp wire?

Yeah steering wheel volume controls are so nice. In this car and my nsx, What I do is hit the volume touch screen button then the slider pops up and just press what level on the slider. That way I don't have to spam volume up

For the amp wire how did you get that to work? I bought an after market and my bottom speakers don’t work
Brown wire is on the 10 pin connector.
If you go to pick a part and get a male 6 pin and a female 6 pin
Unplug the pin from the male connector plug it into your 6 pin (top left corner) connect the females (preferred method is using the blue split wire in the after market kits for a secured connection and also a split for 12v)
Now repeat the top corner and plug into the "options connector" located in the back corner.
Splitting for back after market Amp
Use the 2 females and one male 6 pin connector
Male connects to stock Amp
Female connects to stock wiring harness
Last female splits off to amplifier (you'll need a male to connect here then split those wire off to aftermarket Amp.
(My turn on wire is messy but should theoretical work off stock harness)
Working on the camera now since my car didn't have one stock.
So far I have gotten very little info into all of this.
Toyta harness are normally the same so it's easy and cheap to run to pick a part look in a few wrecked cars for the connectors and cut them out.
So far I have had to run 3 wires through the car camera, live wire for aftermarket Amp and my turn on wire. Ground is on a bolt off the back and

It doesn't look like idoing have one for my car. Thing is, I don't like what some of the other brands offer for my model because they put chrome volume and tuning knobs on each side to emulate the A3 O.G.aesthetic.
It, and it's custom bezel eats into screen real-estate big time!
I'm thinking I might need something non-custom-fit, like a mount offering but have no idea what would be compatible.
My clueless-ness has had me just sitting, stuck, on just the idea of upgrading my stock unit for years.
If you're ever at a loose end, would you let me know which you would go for if you owned my car? Maybe shoot me a link?

Yo i had this stereo installed but sound at all is coming out the people at the shop said it’s the radio. They did all the wiring we even plugged in the factory radio back in and sound comes out of it but on this radio no sound is coming out

About the wiring configurations, how did you modify the brown wire in order to keep the front bottom speakers working
Idk if you’ve already fixed it but a guy said that he took the brown wire out and connected it to the blue amp wire that came with the radio and said that worked

I have 2014 86 that doesn't have a screen will I this fit with the same wires and everything?
On the website it says this device wouldn't be compatible with 2014 - scion fr-s but do you think it would still work just fine with maybe some features blocked out?

@@JohnNguyenVincent So I purchased this product and it works pretty well however I noticed my audio doesn't sound as clear and sounds a little muddy, the bass is a lot weaker there is honestly almost no bass kick at all, do you know why this might be happening or how to fix it?
So I determined the side door speakers don't function after the install, what can I do to fix this?

@Samuel Van Duyne I'll have to get the car taken to an audio repair shop for the speakers but they are fixable, it's only the side speakers that don't function
It's a shame the don't make it with the fo carbon to match the car since it's already designed specifically for this vehicle.
You said it retains the USB in the car right? Does that then work for AA?
Also mine has the stock rearview camera, does this require any extra wiring or will the harness just work? Also curious if the new head unit will utilize the microphone in the headliner?

@@Trikunjs maybe you got an updated unit - they told me it was a software problem. It died after about 7 months
@@nullredvector hoping I don't get that issue. I originally got my unit 3 weeks ago but exchanged it for free because I found out they had a unit with wireless android auto. They were willing to do the swap for me so Im happy with it all so far!

I have the cross-dash panel, so if I were to get it it would overlap with the head unit. What carbon fiber-esque split dash panel do you have and where can I get it?
If i dont have any after market subs and just oem stereo, will i encounter a problem where i must tap the wires? I'm very bad with wiring and hope everything here is just plug and play other than adding the aditional back up camera harness and 12 volt to 6 volt thing. I assume for the two add ons, it's also plug and play? Mayne just need to crimp some wires and pins for the 12 to 6 volt?

I can confirm, they do, check the AliExpress link in the description of this video and you can select right or left hand drive

Does this not work with the stock microphone? Seems weird to have to install an aftermarket mic when you could just use the stock one and not have to deal with running the new mic wires.

Does your built in GPS work? I ordered a unit but built in GPS didn't lock on at all. If you can check GPS Monitor in navigation settings I would appreciate it!
Do you know how I can get the GPS working ? Idoing sent me a unit with none of the maps or GPS not working..Navigation is not on it. They are not much help on assisting me.

Have been watching a few of your videos, I’ve always been kenwood, alpine, pioneer radio. Like you I like the freedom aspect and have been looking at swapping my present head unit to an Android based radio. My only issue is the amount out there to choose from is crazy!! Looking for a 8/9 inch unit that is good seen 90-400 In price and everyone has there opinion can you recommend anything to help me in a choice please?

The radio he originally took out was a good radio and I’ve heard of some BRZ, frs, or Toyota 86 users using it bc it fits nicely.

Hey man im not that well learned about cars but i am getting the oem+ audio system that comes with the sub and i wanted to know if it would work along side this head unit. Also im a bit worried since your saying that your front speakers aren't working is it due to the new head unit and is it fixable, or should i just get the kenwood ?
@@thelazybear9939 I was able to fix it! i took the brown cable out (from pin 9) in the OEM harness and connected that to the blue amp wire that came with the head unit. Everything else was plug n play.
@@onionpeddler If I'm using only the OEM harnesses, which wire would I connect pin 9 to (on the OEM harness)? '14 BRZ here btw, so I guess it might be different. Can't for the life of me figure this out.

Try Crutchfield.com , I ordered from them for my stereo system and was able to call them and have them explain exactly what I needed for my car. They also gave a brief summary of what I would need to wire.

Bro!! need help with backup camera. How do you get power and signal to the backup camera? Using a ND-BC8 pioneer camera
i just tapped it into the reverse signal wire.
SO when I put it in reverse, it gives the camera power

Just don't get it why Idoing could not create something else then mat plastic which does not fit neither to BRZ not GT86. Do you think is is possible to reverse engineering and mount this head unit into original dash trim?
No because it's molded. The 86 chassis has various colors to choose from. Some have silver, some matte black, fake carbon look , etc..

If your car came with a reverse camera it should come with everything you need to get that working.

Does this have dual band wifi?
It does not. It only supports 2.4GHz, bit not 5GHz from what I have tried so far. When I switch my phone's mobile hotspot to 5GHz, the unit says there is no wi-fi in range, but the 2.4GHz works perfectly fine.

Hey man you said pull the brown out the 28 pin to fix the no front speaker audio?
you need to tap that remote on wire so the front speakers work. Give it any 12v power but the constant power. Generally accessory.

You do not, if has its own GPS. Think of it like TomTom or Garmin
The unit does need wi-fi to run GPS though. I use my phone's mobile hotspot to run Google Maps, or just connect your phone to the USB for Android Auto.
