- Join me as I discover Tromsø alone as a solo female traveller, early in 2024.
First off I walk round the beautiful city streets and go window shopping. It's surreal as it's still pretty much dark, although the official Polar Night ended a few days ago.
I then walk around half an hour to Polaria - there's a bus that only takes a few minutes but it's still early and I like seeing places on foot if I can.
Before Polaria opens, I see the Tromsø Dachshund statue and the eye catching Hålogaland Theatre.
Then it's off to see some seals and other marine life in Polaria.
Walking back to the centre, I drop off my souvenirs at my hotel - the Thon Hotel Tromsø - and replenish my wallet. Then it's a quick caffeine fix at Tøllefsen before heading to the Polar Museum and Troll Museum.
I have an early - and delicious - dinner at Størhus (eating in Tromsø as a vegetarian or vegan seems easy) - before my Aurora Basecamp Safari begins at the Radisson Blu Hotel, with Best Arctic.
Despite the snowfall, we are very lucky as we get to see the northern lights (Aurora borealis) in Sommerøya, an amazing end to a day filled with discovery and enjoyment.

I really like your videos from my hometown. You deserve to have a lot more views. When you said that you like snow, I said to myself: She's at the right place! On 29 April 1997 we had 240 cm of snow at our weather station on the Tromsø island.
That is a lot of snow 😀 Thanks for your kind words, I'm glad you're enjoying the videos. I absolutely loved your home town, I felt at home straight away and I hope I'm able to come back at some point in the future.
@@a_weekend_with_us If you do return to Tromsø, let me know here on YT. I will be your local guide for free. My name is Alf and I live in the city centre, not far from your hotel.
