How to install custom dictionaries in KOReader on your Kobo e-Reader

One drawback with the KOReader ebook launcher / UI for e-Readers is that it doesn't support so many dictionary languages. Fo example no support for a Swedish - Swedish dictionary. That is actually also one huge drawback with Kindle ebook readers too. So in this tutorial I show you how to download and install custom dictionaries you can use with KOReader on your Kobo e-Reader. I use my Kobo Libra H2O in this tutorial.

Hi, I would like to ask you a question. When I open KOBOeReader in Finder I don't have those folders as you have, f.e. I don't have .adds, so don't know where I should save new dictionaries. I'm using KOReader (based on yours video :) )

You must allow to see hidden files. On Mac shift+command+. On windows I don’t know.

In Windows you have to enable hidden folders and files.
Google it and you will find out how to enable hidden feature...

Hello, is there any way to do this wirelessly? My windows laptop doesn't seem to recognize the usb :(.

Not on a kobo. But on Android based e-readers like onyx Boox or bigme you can.

@@svartling I bought usb 3.0 - usb-c otg to try on my mac as well, but both just charge my e-reader and nothing else...

yay!, you found a Swedish dictionary. That is the English wiktionary I downloaded, if I had known there was a Swedish version there I would have mentioned it earlier. Nevertheless let us know how you find using koreader vs kobo vs kindle.
