- Swedish ebooks that you can buy online doesn't use DRM protection. They use Watermarks instead. In this tutorial I show you how to buy DRM Free ebooks from the Bokus web Bookstore here in Sweden, and then modify and convert them in Calibre to be used for Kindle and Kobo ebook readers. In the video I use the Amazon Kindle Basic and the Kobo Clara 2e. Please note that some English books has DRM protection so always look after what protection the book has before buying it.

Interesting alternative to DRM, I guess the only downside is someone could hack your account and spread the copies around
Yeah maybe but if you have great passwords that is not as easy.
At this moment, Kindle already accepts the EPUB format. Buying the ebook in EPUB format in another store outside of Amazon protected by ADE, downloading the ebook to the MAC, and then transferring it to KINDLE, it is still necessary to use CALIBRE. thanks.
What I show here is buying ebooks without DRM and not protected by ADE. Then Calibre is not necessary.
Hello. Thank you for showing Calibre. I am very curious to find out which "add ins" (add ons?) you are using after that you have added (you do mention some of them in the movie). But it would be easier if you put them in your comments. By the way thank you for showing all these e-book movies in the past, too.
Good point. I’ve done specific videos on which addons to use and why but no links because they are all in the Calibre add on library. Så mitt förslag är att se de videos och gör exakt som jag visar för att installera dom
Thanks for this.
Do you know of a way to download books bought from Amazon and be able to read them on my Kobo..? I no longer have a Kindle type device.
I do have a PC, Windows.
Thanks.
No you have to have a kindle for that. They are DRM protected.
@@svartling Perhaps I might find merit, if possible, to download them to my Android phone with the Kindle app and then use Calibre to strip the DRM.
Of course they are for my personal use and bought from my own account.
I do find it annoying to have bought books and then be restricted on what I can or can't read them on.
Thanks for the prompt reply.
I don’t think you can do that on android and Calibre. You need a kindle serial in the DRM removal plugin in Calibre to succeed with that. And you can’t save books from the smartphone apps. I hate DRM too.
@@svartling Thanks, you are right. It does not work.
DRM is archaic and far too prohibitive.
are you no longer using koreader on you kobos?
No not really. Sometimes I do that on my old Libra H2O for tutorial recording purposes.
@@svartling why is that? I only started using it on a voyage and have enjoyed it so far, it is definitely a nicer experience than the older 5.13.6 version the voyage runs.
@FirstLastth yes probably but I run latest official kobo software on both and love that. It has everything I need.
But I got interested to try it again so I installed it on my old Kobo Libra H2O again :)
@@svartling good for you, I would not run it on my newer kindles (even if I could), but koreader runs great on older hardware. it is the gestures that make it great for me. the stock firmware of the voyage requires like three taps to even adjust something as basic as the front light, with KOR, just a swipe now.
DOWN WITH DRM!
I’ll agree
