***** OMG YOU'RE So right ! support the soldiers not the mission ! i mean the soldiers are honourable fighters but if they're forced to murder ppl who are actually innocent ( e.g. nazi eras ) it's definitely their leader's fault. But nonetheless the soldiers are very brave people

There's no difference between a soldier and their mission. Ask one.

Let me explain my proposition friends :) most if not all soldiers join In The first place by their love of their fatherland some drafted, others maybe for the new experience or just employment. But their job is to follow orders. The whole armed forces follow an order issued by the government which In turn isn't controlled by them. As for the Germans in ww2 a lot of them aren't even in the party most were drafted and some trying to defend their invaded homeland. While it might be bad to turn a blind eye on atrocities at least they didn't issue it. That's all

    • @gaiusmarius4112
      @gaiusmarius4112 9 лет назад

If u support the leader that means u support the cause which sometimes isn't good ( that includes killing innocent ppl )

Almighty Marcus TV you do realize he said surreal at some points, every service member has similar conversations going home, it's hard to connect with some people mainly due to the fact that you're steeped in a different culture 24/7. yeah everybody can cringe at the incorrect wear of the cammies but it doesn't really matter to the "surreal at some parts" it the video can speak to many service members, as well as their family and friends.

I was on a bus in uniform and I could hear people in the back talking about guys coming back missing arms and legs. Real subtle. Worst are the people who let you know how much they disapprove of the military or foreign policy.
I had co-workers who wanted to know what combat was like. I told them I didn't want to discuss it, but they'd insist. They seem to think it's something they want to experience. I told them it's not like a video game, people are shooting back at you trying to kill you. I forget the scars on my leg when I'm wearing shorts but then I see the stares. Even writing this I flashback to that time and the six guys who went after me to pull me back to safety.

StairwaytoHeavenLZ I personally thank whoever I can (when I feel it's appropriate) because despite not necessarily being in a role of combat or anything, I consider anyone in any service position as a person who volunteered themselves towards the support of our nation. I'm unsure about others, but that's my reasoning behind the "thank you"...

This video is extremely accurate with how they portray the soldier, or other soldiers coming from overseas especially from a combat zone.... Please read this whole thing to the end. The party scene where the people are sitting down and someone changes the subject while the soldier is talking, is the one of the worst feelings as a combat veteran myself. I just think to myself... they just don't understand... (My fellow service members and veterans will know what I mean).
If I find myself in a situation like that, I would only talk about my military experience if some one asks genuine questions and really want to know my story. Otherwise I try to just go with the flow with the subject change. However, when it changes, I almost blank out and everything seems to mute, and in my mind i'm still thinking about what I was just explaining..............!
War, IED's, mortars, dodging bullets, watching friends getting blown up, rockets, land mines, 20 mile rucks with 80+ lbs minimum, no sleep, no showers, starvation, bombings, suicides, death and destruction. Or it could've been a funny story that no one else will ever understand unless they've been through it. Once I get the slightest hints of uninterest. I keep my thoughts it to myself. As they have been for years.....
Very rarely do you see soldiers/marines/airman who've seen combat actually talk about it... Except the fake ones who haven't done anything AT ALL, and fake their war stories at the local bar...Or those soldiers (mostly new enlisted but some new officers and higher enlisted) who have to tell EVERY one they're in the Military. Trust me, those guys are the ones who do the least amount of work in the Military and are a bad example of military discipline and military bearing. To be fair no all
I feel I can speak for most of those Service Members who fight for Our/your freedoms.
(America and our international allied friends who we will fight to the death with).
If were so kind enough to have read this far. I'm not asking you to praise all the soldiers you see by any means and you may come across some you won't like... Nevertheless, please, there may be ONLY ONE or TWO times a soldier gets to truly share their once in a lifetime experience. Even just a small part of it.... You might get the opportunity to understand what they really went through. I will assure you that Marine, Airman, Seaman or Soldier; will never forget that moment someone listened to a big part or maybe even the most important part of their lives.

The part at the end when he is like they will forget him. They don't. I still remember 6 years ago meeting a soldier in D.C. and I thanked him and smiled, he smiled back I will never forget him.
I think about this all the time how soldiers feel like now one understands. I think about how they feel about what they see. I truly try to understand and respect them. I think I only understand so little, but more than other people. So thank you so much and I would listen to any soldiers story for hours and respect them. One of my close friends' father is a retired veteran.
We were never close until one Fourth of July when he was in the back of their SUV covering his ears because of the fireworks while everyone else was outside looking at the fireworks.
I remember that I had grabbed him a couple of beers and climbed into the back of the car with him and handed him the beers and a blanket.
He's a very sweet yet intimidating man. And when you learn he's a veteran he's even more so.
But I asked him if he wanted to talk and he did so I just sat there and listened to him. It almost seemed like it was distracting him.
Those stories he told were devastating and it opened my eyes to how strong of a person he was, is.
But ever since that Fourth of July he's viewed me as one of his friends and I view him as one as well, and a father figure to look up to.

I am sorry to hear you are treated with disrespect but it doesn't compare to the way they were treated back then. Of course that doesn't justify it or anything but it was far worse back then. And of course the video is planned out and what not, there was no internet back in the Viet Nam era to showcase it.

Depends on where you're at really. Back in 2003 near Seattle we were called baby killers and murderers on a semi regular basis. Along with being beaten and rolled if caught alone in the wrong area. But once you got out if the city area people were very supportive. Though by now I think things have toned down a bit.

First she doesn't give him a welcome home kiss after being away for so long and says they are making a scene when no one is around. Then throws him a party with people he doesn't even know and doesn't totally apologize for the lame party. Finally, sticks her hand in front of his face when he says to her, "All I want this weekend was to have you...touch my face all you want." Did she not miss that flirt cue? Kiss him. Hello!

As the girlfriend of a marine, it is hard for me even sometimes to cope with people asking me personal questions about his service. I can't imagine what it must be like for him to constantly be asked questions about killing and weapons and everything and constantly be treated differently. Whether you agree with war or not, you wouldn't ask a random person on the street who wasn't in uniform if he or she had ever killed someone, so please don't ask my marine. He does what he does as part of his job and as part of protecting our country.

Some people are such douches. They are missing the whole point of the video. Yes, soldiers kill people. Why? To prevent someone killing them. Yes, some soldiers are trigger happy, but that is a rare minority. Soldiers are soldiers because they want to protect the innocent. They want to keep people safe. I am not a soldier, but I do know that asking a soldier if they have killed people or how many they have killed is fucked up. They don't want to talk about the fact that they had to kill someone. Why? Because they don't fucking enjoy it. War is not a video game. War is war. War is real. While I hate the fact that wars happen, I will respect the people who are brave enough to risk their lives to go and fight for what they believe to be right.

I don't see how thanking a military man for his service is a bad thing... soldiers are so under-appreciated. Especially ones who are old and fought in Vietnam or the Korean war. You see old guys walking around with those hats that day they're a veteran of the Vietnam war and stuff. But I doubt they ever get thanked for their service, and risking their life any more.. once soldiers come home- they are forgotten about. A lot of injured veterans are forgotten about too.

thanks mike, appreciate it. to address the video, I think they did a good job on showing how awkward it when people thank you. not that it's wrong but it just feels strange when you're still alive and feel guilty for those other soldiers (maybe your friends) that never made it home.

Its kinda sad for my and my sister because whenever we pick my brother in the airport my parents constantly talk about the marine stuff. I mean I guess it's okay but me and my sister want to spend time with our brother not just talking about his work for like 1-3 hours.

It's really annoying and they don't seem to understand.

As a US marine, I do enjoy talking about training, and fun memories I have, but I don't find it very enjoyable when people ask about the Front lines.. I was there, I lost a buddy on the Front lines. I used to play war games, but now I don't. Once you've had to live throughout that, it gets very hard to find enjoyment in that stuff. I get very emotional when people ask how many I've killed... at 1:46 I find that very well most may not agree with me, but I find it very well disrespectful. I get people don't know what to say, but if you don't have stuff to say, then just ask about personal life over seas (or in military).

Adam Ayrab so your approach is for us to pull out everywhere and come home. well in case you haven't notice since we did that in Iraq and made progress in the pull out of Afghanistan ISIS has risen to its current power. Also if we pulled out of south korea where im currently stationed then there would be nothing stopping another civil war from happening since the DMZ is only 35 miles from South Koreas Capital Seoul. That's why we haven't "just fucked off" with our "wmd and oil bullshit".

The one that always bothered me the most is when some knob asks if you killed anyone like its some kind of badge of honor. Or they think its like a video game. Most soldiers don't enlist because they want to kill. They enlist because they feel a sense of duty to their country and want to protect it and make it better. Not because they have a hard on for death.

And every officer I served under had at least a bachelor's degree in something. In fact you can't be an officer in the Canadian military without some form of secondary education. I would imagine it's the same in the U.S as well.
