Oh what a surprise, it was so good having you at the store. Thank you for this, it makes me happy to share my experience with enthusiastic artists, and I am delighted to do. I hope I can hand you down your next M film camera. I look forward to it
Me too! Looking forward to that day for sure.
I sold my Leica and went to the Sony store. And that's not a joke. Sold my M6 to MPB and bought a mint- Sony A7c and got nearly US$1k back in change. The A7c is a fabulous camera and I can use all my Leica M, R & LTM lenses with it.😎
That’s kinda what I’m doing. Just waiting for the A7cii and A7c-r to come out. I still want an MP to accompany it though lol.
I'm hoarding both. :D
lucky man!
Ha ha laughed my head off
@@douglasmccart8963exactly what I’m doing then saw your comment 😂
I have owned quite a few cameras over the years hasselblads, nikon, linhof, etc. The one I really regret selling is my Leica M6ttl. It was such a joy to shoot with, so discreet and intuitive. And the lenses were amazing (35 summilux, 50 cron, 90 apo). My next camera will be an M11 monochrom.
The M11 looks intriguing to say the least. The M6 is such a cool camera. Happy to see Leica is still making them today. Hope to be a proud owner of one soon!
Sussan is a gem. True lover of photography and always treats me well when I go in. Great to see her get some recognition on YT! Great video 👏
Oh Brett, how are you my dear? I hope you are shooting. Thank you for the compliment, it means the world to me to see young artists sprout with passion for more control and analog photography. It is through analog and manual control of a tool one can explore this artistry. Otherwise it's just metal scrap.
Thanks Brett! Appreciate you checking it out.
I’ve been a Leica shooter for about 25 years and everything else (not Sony) for 50 years. A Leica is going to hold its value better and may increase in value over time. I have about 15 Leica products ranging from film to full-frame and medium-format digital. One thing that should immediately be obvious is the minimal adjustments needed in post compared to other systems. The L-Mount Alliance is also nice in that I can use L glass on my Sigma fp. On my S, I can shoot Hasselblad glass. I can shoot M glass on my SL2-S as well as my Sigma fp. I could care less about auto focus. Rarely do I miss when a Leica is in my hands.
The moving plastic tip on the M6 lever is a usability improvement on the classic all metal lever. The problem with the all metal lever is that it can lead to a very sore thumb tip especially when you really put the camera to use and are shooting a lot. The moving plastic tip is easier on the thumb and also helps to advance the film faster as well.
There’s a tendency for people to think a piece of plastic on an otherwise solidly built instrument is somehow cheap and inferior. There are thousands of old Leicas out there with perfectly working plastic lever tips. They are practical and a good solution for the mechanics.
I actually have to agree with you. I was contemplating the design for some time and it makes sense. My minolta has a similar lever design. I think I would prefer the M6 in that regard.
Love my M6, can’t wait for the Q3 to become readily available to grab one. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Good combo!
Hi Xhynet, we enjoyed watching your video! Thank you for sharing your positive experience with us, our products, and especially Sussan 🔴📷
Thanks for checking it out! Looking forward to the next time that I can visit for sure.
So glad you didn't rush in dude. That's a huge decision and one not to be taken lightly (financially as well). I just jumped on my camera shop's website and that MP, fully manual sucker, here in Perth, Western Australia is over $9,000 body only. Oh boy - that is huge money for a fully manual camera with no lens. However, (not sure if you are a working photographer), it would depend on what kind of photography you do and if this will be fast enough for you to get your shots. I recently swapped over to Nikon FF, from over a decade with Fuji APSC. It was a very expensive decision that I took over a year to make, but have never regretted it. Even my clients have commented that my images are better and I've never looked back. Good luck with your final decision and keep shooting.
Seems you are just the person I need to talk to. Was shooting some video on my XH2 and it suddenly died right in the middle of the shoot. Fortunately, it was within the warranty, I will be mailing it off to Fuji tomorrow to be repaired. In the meantime, I still have an XT5 and X100V along with my 16-80, 16-55, 70-300, 18 1.4, 33 1.4, and 56 1.2. Needless to say, I am pretty heavily invested in the system. And shooting a lot of film lately, and my cameras of choice have been mostly Nikon. I also have experience with their older DSLRs, as my dad gifted me his D600. Anyway, it has got me tossing around the idea of making the same switch. My camera dying on me yesterday has pushed me a little further in that direction. I do about 90% of my work through still images. Very rarely do video. Mostly personal projects such as portraits, a little bit of street work, some Astro photography, and other little personal project that I’m working on. Would you mind telling me a little bit about what made you decide to switch and also how you went about doing through the process without getting too deep into debt. And what did you choose an icon?
Hey Phillip,
I actually sold my Sony apsc to do the same thing you did, switch to full frame. Just waiting on a particular sony to come out here soon. It is quite an expensive camera that is for sure. After learning about it though, the actual cost makes sense (some inflation has happened at Leica as well). They are so well built and feel substantial in the hand. Even the experience of holding my all manual minolta film camera was better than holding my sony. I guess it's like cars, if you can afford it you have your not so fun daily beater (sony) and your weekend rocket (leica). lol. thanks for watchin brotha
I went there in 2014 when the M240 was the latest M!! I also got a key chain and felt just as inspired and the dream to own an M was set. Almost 10 years later I finally have a mint condition used M4. You could always start there like I have for about half the cost, but Ill tell you now the lust for MP is something!
Thanks for sharing that man. Probably going to look at getting a used M6 for my film setup and keep Sony for digital.
This was awesome to see, thanks for sharing! I can't wait to see you with a Leica one day.
Thanks bro! I can't wait to see one in my hand one day as well. I believe 100% that it will not make me a better or worse photographer, but it will make me feel that I am holding a substantial piece of gear, the way every photographer should feel when they hold the tool that shapes their creativity.
I love all your videos inspired me to go out push my fear to the side and really get out there and come up with amazing photos but I’m not really sure how to distribute them show them (sell them) Could you make a video on that I would really appreciate it ❤ by the way if I’m interested in getting a Sony a6400 or Sony a7c which one would you say they produce the same quality same?
thanks man i’m really happy my videos inspires you to do that. it means a lot! if you have the time and budget, just wait another month or two and sony will announce the new ac7ii and a7cr. It will be worth the wait!
Liked your video. As a Leica photographer I love the M series but mine are about 70+ years old and still going strong. After I bought my M3 and M2 used in the 70’s never thought that I needed to upgrade.
Before you decide to drop that much on a new camera look at buying a used older M and if you can later justify buying new go for it.
As for lenses look at used Leica or other third party M lenses. Do your research on lenses you don’t always have to buy Leica lenses.
Other third party lens makers are Voitlander, TT and 7 Artisans and Lens Light Lab. Used you can also look into Zeiss.
Good luck on your journey.
Thanks Gary! A used M6 classic or M7 is definitely a smarter choice. Thanks for the bit on lenses, I think one of the lenses that was either on the M6 or MP that day was like 8 or $9k. I guess the setups depending on what you choose can become the cost of a modern day car. Nonetheless, I now understand the desire to own a Leica M. One day, soon hopefully.
@@xhynetuseinovski
You can also look into the meter-less M’ which run considerably less than an M6 used. Other than the meter they are essentially the same camera. Haven’t changed that much in that many years. Rangefinder cameras aren’t for everyone so blessed to see if you like the experience and then upgrade to a higher model M.
I hope this one day will happen soon :) thanks for this it was great!
Thank you so much for watching. I’m glad it gave you the joy that it gave me. The plan is to still buy one, but I’m thinking more towards a digital M as film is becoming too much of a creative hindrance due to the financial component of it. Thanks again!
Love that I found your channel!
What do you think about the Leica D-Lux 7 for everyday shooting?
Hey welcome! You know thats funny I have looked at that camera several times and was really into it. Looking at the specs I saw it was only 17mp and I lost interested really fast. For just a little more money you could get a used OG Q. That would be nice!
I'm a construction worker, highrise downtown Toronto, and I carry a Typ 109 with me. Super convenient, super compact and lot of fun!
The dynamic range on these leicas are insane!
The music is soo relaxing. 😌
Lofi beats :)
I knew when I didn't see you sitting with it, you didn't purchase one😅. I just can't justify getting one myself. There are a lot of new cameras coming out... which already makes it hard to choose, but even the a6400 will probably still be valid for a LOOOONG time.... To me, personally, I think film is overated, but I understand the analog experience. Even in music, analog has warmth to it... but at the same time, I also think analog is a little limited, but to each his own, I guess. The camera is just the tool, after all.
It’s a lot of money but I definitely see an MP in my future. Whether that’s later this year or three years from now I would love to have one. The A6400 is still a camera I recommend to everyone. I would have kept it but I’m looking to go full frame. But you’re right, a good photo is a good photo, it doesn’t matter what camera it was taken with. thanks for always watching 🙏🏻❤️
That’s the joy of film .. it’s limitations… from film speed .. to grain and contrast.. all things to be used in image making ..?and of course .. the mistakes and the grab shots that just have that magic … something digital seems to lack ..
Nice watching you go through the process. BTW, what brand and model is the small tan bag you are carrying?
Hey thanks man! It was definitely an experience that will remain with me forever. I got the bag from H&M and it's perfect for holding a small setup.
Having had Leica’s for a fairly long time now I’ll make an observation about the infamous Leica look. It’s definitely real. The issue is some cameras it is mostly there already shooting the raw or jpg and others you have to process the raw first and it will show itself.
Now I know what people are going to say: you can process a Canon, Sony, Nikon raw to whatever look you want and I agree, but there is still a Leica look that is missing even after processing the other camera manufacturers raw files.
I just watched Manny Ortiz video on the Q3 and the SOOC shots were honestly amazing. Maybe in a future video I will test this personally. Thanks for your insight.
@@xhynetuseinovski Excellent! I do hope one day Leica’s AF will catch up to Sony but it’s a generation and a half behind unfortunately. I think there will be some firmware updates to improve it a bit more though
Every Leica camera is truly special but the only one that is likely to outlive any of us is the M3. Nice video !
thanks brother!
No problem .... Happy shooting! @@xhynetuseinovski
If you’re into film, the MP is a cult camera. Just be wise choosing the lab to process it or you can choose to process yourself. If the chemical used and timing is correct the result is jaw dropping. Lucky I finally found the right one so I started to shoot film again. 😁
Right now been using the Dark Room in San Clemente. Results good so far. Might have to look for a clean used M6 for now.
Leica M7.... The camera no one talks about because they don't even know it exist, it is so overlooked and I am not really sure why. I was in the market for a Leica film camera and like many I thought the M6 was the camera to have because that's what all the youtubers film photographers brag about. One day I went to my local camera store and they happened to have an M7 in mint condition. I held in my hand, looked through the viewfinder and I was sold. The M7 is a far superior camera than the M6 and can be had for about the same price of a used M6. The M7 has Apreture priority, Larger shutter speed dial, Shutter speed display in viewfinder just to mention a few of the advantages. As a photographer that loves film, to me those features are just a huge advantage in my art of photography. I have had my M7 now for almost a year and have Zero complaints. I also think buying a used Leica can save you a few thousand dollars compared to a new MP and you will have money to spend on a good lens. By the way good choice on not going with the Q3 and I agree that ultimately it will be hard to tell the Leica Digital look to other cameras. Also Sony just leaked the release of the new A7CR 61 megapixel camera and I will be going for that ove a Q3.
I didnt know all of this, thanks for your insight, ill personally keep the M7 on my radar thanks to you!
Because not even Leica can repair them and when the electronics die, and they will eventually, you are left with meter-less body with a 2 mechanical shutter speeds. I loved my M7 but $3-4k is a tall order for a near 20 year old film camera with flaky electronics and no repair path.
Looked into this as well, but with few repair options, I think I'd rather go for a used M6.
One day that circuit board will fail …😢😢
My Comment AFTER your visit! The MP is an old camera, very similar to my M3. I love my M3! But I still prefer onboard metering! It's old! One bad shock, my vierfinder could break up! Old glue! 55 years old! Get a modern camera. The RF will come one day! It takes about ONE year or more, to be at ease, with rangefinder! I suggest a M4 series! One with a real warranty, sserviced by a known service person.. The worse it looks, the better! Remember lenses! More money! Get a 35mm Voigtlander or at worst a TT Artisan 35mm. I used 50mm like forever! There are vast hordes of people, these days. You need to be closer! 50mm is a better viewpoint! Mine a Pristine 50mm Collapsible Summicron, made about 1955!. Yes older than my M3! The Q models are lovely, but bulky! The M6 is not great! I own one. Nice, my meter still works! If it breaks, Leica will NOT repair! If they disagree, GET IT IN WRITING! Personally a Canon modern way to go. My everyday cameras, I AM 79! They are small compacts. Canon 210! Oh! ASPC auto focus is better than Full frame! My toy cameras are smaller sensor! I did pro work with Pentax OPtio,3.5mp! 8"x 12" prints!. Try an older camera with CCD sensor! It won't do ISO more than 400! If you mainly show on Instagram, Facebook, your phone esp new i-phone better than any camera. I don't own one! Good luck!
My comment before seeing your video! Don't be nuts! Don't drink the lemonade! I own 3 Leica M! yes M6TTL. Lenses. But, but I run to my SLR's every time! See beautifully! That's SLR/DSLR/Mirrorless.... Cameras don't make you! You make the images.
You fell in love and I totally understand it, there’s no way back anymore ;)
Yeah dude like some hypes are just hypes (x100v), but these leica film cameras are just works of perfection. It's like Porches, they say once you drive one you can't drive anything else.
Sure you will get one soon like me 😍
congrats bro! thats exciting!
Mp all the way …I’ve had one since 2003 …,top camera.. M6 is now a style statement… Mp is a tank .. that solid film advance is killer.. I have owned 2 M6 in the past .. trust me .. the Mp works so much better out in the field…
Switched from Sony to Leica years ago, and I‘m not missing anything.
Only the best!
Just get some Voigtlander e-mount lenses for your Sony. You'll be good to go and save a bunch of dough. (That rhimes!).
That might yield some nice results actually. Like M glass on a Sony. Probably would be better than an M8 M9 M10 M11. What's the difference besides the shooting experience at that point. Sony all day.
@xhynetuseinovski I have a bunch for my A7rii and I love them. You have to like manual, but the ones made for e-mount transfer Exif data and focus zoom like a beast. They are really fun. Excellent results.
@@xhynetuseinovski it's better than adapting M glass, M glass on sony's, especially wide lenses tend to preform quite poorly versus natively, due to the thicker Sony filter stack .
I hear that Lyca is amazing but expensive.
you get what you pay for!
Its great when u buy a camera which inspires u to shoot more and more… 👍👏👏👏 better than seeing people buy so many expensive cameras and end up staying in dry box
gotta use them man!
Nice review
thanks bro
Susan is the best! Got my 35 Lux from her.
Yes she is, it was such a pleasant experience with her!
I bought more Sony’s and also went to the Leica store 😅. No kidding. Owned the Q2, now the M11 and Q3. Picked up the Sony A7RV and loving my A7C. I have to say that the Q3 is an incredible camera but not better than any other modern cameras to justify the price.
Now with the M11 there is no other camera out there that offer the analog/ digital shooting experience and it’s worth every dime.
Different tools for different purposes. Although you can do everything you do with these cameras with an A7C. My next on on the list is the M6 haven’t shot film in a while and it’s time to do it again. Great video man.
Gaston thanks for watching. I think the M11 would be very nice to have. Seems like a nice in between option. Sony is killing me I’ve been waiting for the A7cii for so long. Soon though
The more people abandon these imaging computers called digital cameras and go back to the more basic cameras with functionality concentrated on making photographs the better. Whether a Leica is the camera for you or anyone else for that matter, only time, your skill and style of photography would tell. I think to and I am sure that I am right in that to be able to use a Leica , film or camera, the photographer has to cleanse his mind of the poison that is all that automation in digital photography. In anycase I wish you well for the future. The MP and the M6 are literally the same cameras, with the exception of the MP trying to emulate the M3 with that lever, and of course the M3 was manufactured by Leitz and that is was is written on the top plate and does not have the Red circle. The M6 lever is designed for a more rapid style of shooting without taking the camera off the eye. I have no preference as I am used to both my M2 and M3 and my the M6 TTL Enjoy the new adventure whatever you happen to choose.
Thanks brotha. Yeah I wondered and forgot to ask why the lever was like that. That makes senses since you can probably continuously keep your thumb on the lever. I think the reissued M6 black on black is a sick combination. Sussan said the wait time for a new M6 is quite some time though. You're right though, digital and film both have a time and place. All depends on what you plan to do. But having a nice digital paired with a leica M film would be ideal!
Thanks for coming by to check out the video.
It’s the lens that will give you a different result than Sony
Yeah, someone else said that. Would be cool to try some M glass on a Sony with an adapter.
“Selling my car and went to house shopping” - fixed
lol
I sold my Leica & went to the Sony store for a Sony a7rII best move I ever made!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sony is still the king of digital! Waiting to see the A7C-R specs.
Everything depends on the operator …. cameras are only tools … Leica is amazing camera and amazing color too but sony is amazing too as long as GM lenses and premium level of sony cameras…..
I think having a Sony digital is a great idea. Pairing it with Leica film is even better.
The rich live their own lives, far from ordinary people.
Yeah
Looks like a seductive store
lol
The most important is your
Eyes not your camera.... even
You have a leica M you will never
Become a new Cartier Bresson....
Agreed! An amateur driving a Porsche on the track will not be any better because of the car. BUT, it may inspire him to become better.

🙏🏻
Lol someone lost his common sense and got into the hype band wagon
Really? No hype band wagon….most of us have been shooting Leica for many many years and for me I shoot so much more now because I enjoy the process so much more than when I used my Nikons, Sonys etc. the Sony felt like shooting a computer. The Leica feels like I’m shooting a camera.
Now I learned nothing from this video. Btw - what about the wobbly music? The same that EVERY "content creator" uses...
Negativity is not the right response Bert. Instead show some love. Everything will be better. Thanks brother 🙏🏻
