Mazda R100 Restoration Part 1 - Quarter Repair
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 15 фев 2024
- Getting started on the Mazda R100 restoration by tackling the nasty, crumpled quarter panel area first. I was supplied a rusty donor cut so I remade the outer lower quarter on that, then unpicked the car itself to remake and replace all of the inner layers (wheelarch, inner quarter and boot floor). The boot lid was severely warped by the sandblaster so I will be remaking a new boot lid too as they don't seem to be readily available. The taillight section and beaver are not yet attached as I might be remaking them also.

Just found your channel and to say I am impressed would be a serious understatement. Just wow. Looking forward to watching your video history.
Welcome aboard the one arm bandit primitive filmed videos express haha!
i continue to be amazed with your metal working ability and I really enjoy your videos. Thanks for your youtube efforts.
Thanks mate, am Slowly improving and getting faster every week, hopefully the videos also improve and arnt as primitive😅
Sir, you are a master of your craft, a true pleasure to watch someone do things the right way!
Thanks mate, a little care goes a long way
Nothing better than sat with my feet up watching your videos with a cup of coffee thank you
What time is there, 930pm when you commented ,a little late for a coffee 😅
Please make more content your work is amazing!
I have months of videos filmed I just haven't had the time to compile them into videos as I've been too busy working
Awesome work. great work on the video also, gave a really good idea of the whole process!
Thanks for watching
Nice work, You make it look so easy
Thanks mate, stuff like this is pretty repetitive and the same process as most cars so isn't as hard as the larger panels.
Awsome work yet again! Its good to see such commitment to high standards of workmanship. I would love to see you make that spare wheel well as I have something similar that needs doing and not a clue where to start!
Thanks mate it's definitely possible in 1 piece, I'd like to give it a go in a few weeks in some spare time.
i just love watching this type of work. metal workers dont get the recognition they deserve. id LOVE to have these skills man.
Thanks for watching, it's definitely a hard slog😅
Absolutely amazing work!
Thanks mate
Very well done, so neat.
Thanks man
I'M HOOKED, will now binge watch, thanks for your expertise.
Welcome aboard!
Your craftmanship is amazing. I love watching the progress on your projects.
Thanks mate. Slowly progressing
we love to see it amazing work as usual your skills ave improved, you makin it look easy
Thanks mate, hopefully they continue to improve each week
Simply unbelievable work. It's just like watching some sort of metal magic, to think you are self taught is mind-blowing. Very well done.
A little care goes a long way, I have a lot to learn but seem to be producing decent quality so far.
You really made quick work of that quarter. Could watch this content all day.
It came together quite fast which was nice, you don't normally get that lucky with panel damage and it requires pulling and moving the car around to suit.
I hate clever people. Thanks mate, for taking the extra time, to film, edit and share your hard work. cheers
Me too, that's why I bash metal for a living when I could be a millionaire behind a computer 🤣🤣
I really enjoy this channel. So simple, straight to the point, great cars and fantastic workmanship. No need for flashy showbiz tricks. Keep it up mate
Thanks mate, thats how it will stay, the platform is oversaturated with clickbait and dramatised TV spec episodes. Although a second person filming would be so much easier and better quality than my primitive methods 😅
Great video 👍 Nice edit on this video hope people can now appreciate the Dolly work that goes into these repairs .😊
Haha that's sped up like 6x😅 and it's still boring to watch
Bloody love your work, always enjoy watching these and your appreciation of doing the job the right way is infectious.
Cheers mate
wow, you make it look easy, when this work truly requires a great craftsman, as always, excellent!
Cheers mate, Im much faster at the smaller/ intricate multi layer stuff than I am at the larger panels
Great stuff man 🤩👍
Cheers for the watch
Nice work mate
Cheers mate
Great video well done
Thanks for watching
really enjoyed this top video
Cheers mate thanks for the watch
Mint job mate 👌
Thanks mate
Oh man not another resto channel I've discovered that's going to keep me awake at night when I should be sleeping because I have work the next day😂
Haha cheers for watching.
@@notevn no, thank you for the content. Hopefully you keep it coming for a long time. Your doing some amazing work
So we’ll explained and filmed thanks
Thanks mate I try not to make it too boring and repetitive if I've explained the process in previous videos
Fantastic metal art , what a pro, absolutely stunning work!
Thanks mate, no pro here, just getting started on my journey
Again, awesome work. I was lucky when getting my 808 coupe bead blasted years ago that the guy knew what he was doing and didn't cause any warping on any of it's panels.
Yep same as my rx3 coupe it's blasted flawlessly by hydrablast in syd, Even when I did my first ever blast job myself (the cosmo) I knew to not hit it with a fire hose pressure😅
Дуже смілива робота)
Дякую за не коротке відео.)
Thanks for watching
You are so gifted at the metal shaping amazing workmanship
Thanks mate. Only early days Long way to go and lots to learn still
Great video. Love watching the process.
Thanks for Watching
Lovely work mate 👌👍
Cheers mate

Haha yeah there is some circus acts and yoga everyday when you work by yourself 🤣
@@notevn mwahahahaha thats f
N gold some your phrases have me laughin hard, especially been from NZ brother and dude i fully get you i do everything on my own also, hence fully appreciate your madness maybe i need to look into yoga ahaha im.already a clown so thats sorted ahahah
Really nice metal work !
Thanks mate
Its been a second since I watched one of your videos and i forgot how damn talented you are!
Thanks for watching
I had a solid 3 minute laugh when the flick trix came out! 😂😂
Haha should have busted a trick
Awesome work man
Thanks mate
Metal wizardry! Legendary
Thanks mate slowly improving
the awesomeness continues! got so engrossed i almost burnt dinner lol. surprised you're not using a spot welder, can thoroughly recommend it. makes certain things an absolute breeze.
Thanks mate. Yeah I have a handheld spot welder but I don't trust it. Sometimes it doesn't stick and they pop off a minute later. So I just plug them and spot over the top for the cosmetic look.
Nice
Random worker: looks at the car's general direction with a sandblaster
Notevn: Fine, I'll make the car from scratch
😅so much extra work from the damage
Amazing job 👍
Cheers mate
Another one saved nice work 👊
Thanks mate
Took me a few days to get around to watching this one, damn it was worth it, you are doing incredible work saving these cars, but wow didn't the sand blaster make a mess for you to fix, just a great little car though, Rj in Nth NSW
Thanks mate, yeah sure made an absolute mess of things, the roof is the same 😑
عمل ممتاز جدا جدا وعاشت اليدي ❤
Your idea of a clean car is much different to mine 😂
I mean.. he makes them pretty clean 😂
@HeartLessGem_ Amazing work - but imagine paying for it to be blasted and getting this back 😭
Haha usually the blasted mazdas are an absolute horror show compared to this so I'm pretty impressed at its condition and lack of previous monkey repairs 😅
Nice work! Have you thought about getting a cheep spot welder? Much easier than plug welding and gives the factory look.
Cheers mate, yeah I have a handheld spot welder but sometimes they don't stick so I don't trust it fully and plug weld them so I know they are on good and then go over with the spot welder for the factory look.
@@notevn Can understand that. I am getting more confident with mine but still do a few test welds on correct metal each time I use it to ensure good strength.
Well done on the work you do would be good to see how you do your shaping
Thanks mate I'll try add more shaping stuff but it's pretty repetitive, I'll try do a time-lapse or something, but most of the time I don't know the process I'll be doing myself to even document it 🤣just how ever I feel at the time.
It would be interesting to know how many hours it took to get the repairs finished, was it a full week? Looks pretty costly to have the wrong person blasting your car. Thanks for the video, always pleasing to see the process of creating the bodywork 😊
I thought I said how many hours I must have missed that bit, was 3 and a half days I think (8hr days) just under or at 30hrs from memory.
Yeah its super bad and unfortunately very common for blasters to ruin cars.
@@notevn thanks for the info, I think you gave us 15 hours part way through, which had me guessing how long to do the whole repair for the panel.
I have a really rough 1300 coupe that could be up your alley if you're game.
They are all fixable and I'm not suprised with the condition of these old mazdas, they are all terrible 😅
@@notevn think of the worst possible condition/scenario and times it by two, I don't want the car if it's up your alley you could no doubt turn it into something and make some good content 🤷♂️
Haha it sounds like a normal mazda under the paint then🤣.
Send through some photos of it I'll have a look.
By chance own a rx3 sedan with the same plates as your name? Worked on one at my old work years and years ago.
@@notevn RX3 wasn't me, I'm not sure how to send photo's on here I can't see your email anywhere?
You are a good body man
Thanks mate
@@notevn Cheers from Canada
looking awesome, i was following an RX2 build on a forum (got sold off in the end) he said the boot floor wasn't available anywhere, so it might be good to take a template from it to make at some point?
I will definitely template it. Although I have a rear cut on the wall that has a good boot floor and intact wheel well also.
Do you recommend something else other than Sand blasting for full restorations like this? (Given the mess that it's made)
Sandblasting is fine, having the operator who knows how to blast very thin metals is the key, I've had multiple cars blasted by the same person (matt at hydrablast) with flawless results and no damage.
That rear quarter had a bad skin condition. Nice job!
it was maybe saveable if you had first go but someone had gone crazy with a ball pein 😅
funny looking concave hammer. dont you mean convex
Haha yeah I meant for hitting into the concave
