Classic BIAS, thinking something was better than really was instead after lots of years.
Ferrari unit was far way better, since they won all of the titles

I absolutely love this layout, but the comments about this legendary circuit being unfairly altered are getting really tired. It was an engine killer, the chicanes weren't wide enough to actually allow overtaking, and the only place for spectators was along the pit straight/stadium section. To put more grand stands along the straights would require removing a lot of trees and adding walls to protect fans and marshals. The current layout is a much better spectators circuit. Yes I think the current layout could use another long straight, but it makes perfect sense why they altered this layout. T4 hairpin at the current layout sees more overtakes and overtaking opportunities each race than you would see in 5 races at the old Hockenheimring.

On the new layout, the section from the hairpin to the stadium should be a straight , the succession of slow corners there is useless.

The racing could be a bit staid, but the cars were epic. Tyres you could really push, traction control so maximum acceleration.
Also, the old Hockenheim. Completely unique. Nothing like it on the calendar. Absolute travesty it's gone forever. Very German - a little bit odd, extreme, and thrilling.

Back in the day where there was no tyre and fuel saving and no/barely overheating tyres when following an opponent. I hope F1 gets better with the new front and rear wing in 2019.
