    What gives me goosebumps about the Monza Max-Lewis crash is that it’s like they were fated to collide. They came together only because they both had unusually long pit stops: Max’s was 11 seconds long (I don’t think he was serving a penalty or had damage, so a rare mistake from RB pit crew), and Lewis’ was 4 seconds long, nearly twice the average pit stop.

    • @orphid
      @orphid 3 года назад +183

      That "mistake" from Red Bull pit crew was because the light for the release didn't go out. And that was also because of rule changes that a pit stop was not allowed to go faster than 2 seconds. And that rule change was implemented because Mercedes was complaining that such a thing was "unsafe". It was purely aimed at Red Bull because Mercedes were whiney because Red Bull had the fastest pit stops and Mercedes didn't.

      @@orphid you've exaggerated so much here mate, it's hilarious. This is coming from a McLaren fan not even a Mercedes one - the FIA decided to disallow a special component all pit crew members use in their tire guns. That missing component means the job that component completed now has to be done manually, which is why every single team on the grid is WAY slower at pitstops (especially McLaren). If anything, Red Bull have adapted best and are performing almost as well as before (2-2.2 vs the 1.9 last year). Ferrari have also greatly improved but basically every other car on track stayed the same or got slower. I hope theu bring back that component, I loved seeing the fast pit stops man!

Something Lewis hasn't needed to do for a while since he's had no real competition. This was an eye opener for Lewis and Mercedes at how intense Max and Redbull were going to be all season. Credit to all of them it must of been exhausting to keep it going all season for both drivers and teams. Lewis disadvantage this year was that he didn’t know how to deal with an aggressive driver like Max. Years of limited competition made him rely on his car speed which suited his non-aggressive driving style. Lewis never expected Max to overtake in turn 5 in the final lap of the last race. Max is an opportunist so he went for it straight away. Added to that, for years Lewis has had a teammate (Bottas) who is one of the least aggressive of all time. At least this is how I see it.

      Btw, Lewis slowed on purpose at the end of the safety car, so that Max would get a Penalty for overtaking under safety car.

    @2:45 bottas didnt just take out norris
    He took out norris, who flew into max, then bottas flew into perez, thats P2-P5 taken out of a podium or even race completion.
    THEN, because of the chaos, stroll drives into ricciardo and even leclerc gets damaged and everyone else drives over that debris.
    One of very few races lewis didnt get the win from driving the fastest car, this win was given by bottas taking out or damaging nearly 10 cars.
