This video maker does not know any history and just shows the place. Very poor audio quality. The route he has taken is complicated and you may have to seek help with the directions all the way. Ocheri root is simpler and easier.

Locals say that this is the hometown of one of his beloved wife who also committed sathi (entered the funeral pyre of her deceased husband which is generally not practised in Tamil culture) when Rajendra chola I passed away. Perhaps she was in deep love with the king. During his later part of his life he was tormented by the power struggle among his sons and wanted to find peace in this small hamlet. Apparently he also breathed his last here. Indeed sobering to see such an unprecedented king of kings (the only Indian king in all the history to have ruled countries across the Bay of Bengal) passed away like this.
