  • Is whole fruit better than a smoothie? A team of researchers wanted to examine whether there was a difference in blood glucose response when consuming whole fruit compared to the same fruit blended into a smoothie.
Surprisingly, the findings reveal that the glycemic response is better in the smoothie version, contrary to expectations.
What gives? Is this a good thing for people with type 2 diabetes?

This is how science should be discussed. Dissecting methods and critically analyzing controls, treatments, etc. Love it

A blood sugar spike like that damages your endothelium. You can reduce this by sipping on the smoothie rather than gulping in down in 90 seconds

Do you think you would take me 90 seconds to drink it that's crazy.

A great study so we don’t have to worry about sugar spikes and simply enjoy a refreshing frozen smoothie. Instead of ice cream!

why can't people do both. eat fruits and drink smoothies. things don't have to be this or that especially if they're both not dangerous. i get say smoothie vs packaged drinks. i eat my whole fruit and blend smoothies for my day.

I think it depends on the ingredients. When I make a smoothie, I use more than I would eat.
I don’t know any diabetic that is careful about what they eat or drink. I’m always surprised by their lack of concern.
