- Avenged Sevenfold playing a preview of a new song December 12th, 2008 at the House of Blues in Atlantic City, NJ.
After the show I met M. Shadows. I asked him what the deal was with this instrumental they played. He said "You can expect to hear it in the future." Then told me they were to start recording in "June of 2009." Obviously, the last part wasn't true, because they are currently recording now.
Update 2010: Now that Nightmare has come out, I believe it's fairly obvious that this didn't make the cut. Avenged is notorious for not writing on the road, so whatever this instrumental was, I guess it shall remain that way. It seems as if when they finally got to writing Nightmare, this didn't have a place on the record for this.
Update 2018: This instrumental jam, which includes a drum solo by The Rev, has been unofficially titled "Unwind the Chainsaw" by fans for several years. In 2013, during the Hail to the King promotional period, bootleg audio of a performance was uploaded to a SoundCloud account belonging to Avenged, and this piece was entitled "In A House, In A Heartbeat," which would make this a cover of the John Murphy theme from 28 Days Later. However, this has never been brought up in an interview by Avenged or specifically verified by any band member. From my own experience, Matt said that this was a piece they were working on for the upcoming album (which would turn out to be "Nightmare"). So is it a scrapped song idea? A cover? Just a live jam? You decide!
This is a re-upload from my old account "Pittsburghfan0621."
R.I.P. Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan
Damn, jimmy didn’t let a single limb go to waste.
the rev's little fill from 1:55 to 1:59 is fucking incredible
It fucks so hard! I love that bit! Such a powerful Jimmy type fill
I wish this was made into a song .. guess we will never get it it now :(
Efe Yorukoglu let's hope so dude
God Damn
It’s called unwind the chainsaw. It’s like diamonds in the rough. They didn’t put some songs on. And this was one.
And instead we get The Stage, such a garbage album. A7x is freaking trash now.
Salvation damnation is absolute trash for thinking A7X is trash. Eat shit, ans lets see you write something .
His shadow looks as if he's waring a fadora
Markus LeBlanc I think his shadows from city of evil
2:11 this part give me goosebumps miss the rev
Yeahh the rev MASTER !!!
My Favorite version of this song outta the ones I've seen on RUclips .... foREVer !!!!!
This is the best one they did. These are the best fills Jimmy's played!!!
look we got angle in this comment
theres better versions for sure.. HQ and multiple angles.
I really hope they still incorporate this into one of their songs. Its an amazing piece, i would even be satisfied if they just recorded the instrumental.
Unwind the Chainsaw
seeing jimmy from this angle makes me realise how similar he could be to danny carey if he were still alive :(
Sigh...4 months exact gone by since he passed away. Looking at this video really saddens me, yet i watch it over and over. I love The Rev, and will continue to do so. As much as it hurts to say it, R.I.P Jimmy :'[
It's called Unwind the Chainsaw
"Unwind the Chainsaw" is a fan title for it... Avenged never formally named this that. However, last year when they were hyping up "Hail to the King," they had an audio snippet of this on their Soundcloud account. It was titled "In the House, In a Heartbeat (Cover)." So I suppose this was in fact a cover of the 28 Days Later theme.
Yea I had heard about that. Thanks.
foREVer X
1:45 to 1:58 is just a fucking masterpiece of a fill...i cry still because he is gone..
I wish this became a song, what a beautiful piece of music that Jimmy took to the grave. I think its beautiful because it leaves you guessing what could have been, and reminds you that life is short.
😢
Yeah, before Nightmare came out. My guess is that they kind of scrapped this idea when they actually got down to writing the album.
Tom Whaley actually the b side song "Girl I know" sounds similar to nightmare even it was released two years older
I think sounds a little bit like "Buried Alive", maybe it's a little scrap of the song or maybe I'm wrong, I guess we'll never find out
I don't know but this reminds me a little bit of exist, just one part
@ATJ7X Me too. They're notorious for not writing on the road, but Matt said it was being worked on for the new album. I guess when they actually got to writing Nightmare, it didn't have a place on the album.
Funny at the end the Rev spits at Johnny. ..miss the Rev.
Yes thank you for uploading this. I never get tired of hearing this. I can't wait for the new album, just sucks that the Rev's drumming and vocals won't be on it =(
@1991ant1991 It was awesome! This was I think my 6th time seeing them, and I loved it every time! It never got old. I feel extremely lucky to have seen A7X with Jimmy as many times as I did!
it has similar chord progressions of the keyboards on Not Ready to Die, which was released around the time of Nightmare. this could be it
Tabor 99 nah im pretty sure arin wrote that song
someone said its similar to - in the house in a heart beat by john murphy it sounds similar
Vex Mythoclast go back to Destiny
MightGuyyy - Destiny Vooping same to u
yas
Is there any possible way for the rev to come back? :'0
Fuck, i miss The Rev so damn much 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Hello there
ur Synsyster Gates, you both just like twin because same hair...
Sounds like the guitar riff is similar to the one in 'St. James' on the 'Hail to the King' album. Maybe this is the song they used it in.
where can i watch this whole live concert?....if it is in the youtube..plizzz share the video name to me
Lalhrat Leiri a7x bat country live Oakland
miss The Rev. great talent amazing personalities
Fans from INDONESIA🇮🇩😊
It's not any real Song that actually came out. It's not god hates us, it's not nightmare. My guess is that it was just an improvised thing that they normally do on big shows.
I wanna re-write this and put it in an album for my band
It's copyright thing bro.
@@pdilvngnc no, the guy should be fine
what a nice view! thanks for the video mate!
sounds like an alternative version of nightmare if you listen closely
fr
Please don't ever remove this video
They'll probably will due to copyright
It sounds like "To End The Rapture" (A song off their first album) to me.
@MHZizzi yeah this is a great video! ha I saw A7X a couple times on this tour, and they always play great, but I felt like at this AC show, they placed exceptionally great!
feels like they turned it into Dose from the stage
Aloysius Au how?? XD
the intro of this sounds like the intro to Dose if you add a bit more flair to it
Aloysius Au not really I don't hear any drum rolls at the beginning, the tempo is different and the key is different
Aloysius Au Dw I won't burst your bubble bro
of course it can't sound the same cuz then what's the point. I'm saying there's elements of this song inside Dose. but thx bro
gonna be my all time favourite drum duet solo 🤘♥️ hope Rev's just amazing in some alternate dimension 😢
So I guess this one didn't make it on the album after all. Hopefully on their next one IF they decide to do one. Or maybe they'll release another album but on the side like THE LBC.
Was this a song in the nightmare album or is this a song coming out?
The stage
Lol at the very begining i thought it was nothing else matters but then it reminded of the begining of battery, both metallica songs XD
I love you syn and the rev 😍😍😘😘😘
His life taken away
Me: it sud be me not him
holy fuck!!! look at what johnny 's doin on the bass at 2:00 O_o
hmmm i wonder if this will be on the new nightmare album :)
@brendanfick its a rendition of in the house in a heartbeat
@NelsonA7X Thanks dude. Yeah RUclips erased my account with the original upload of this :/ Shame to see all of the views and comments go away, but at least the video is back up!
I feel like this is the type of sound you would hear when Disneyland is closing for the day...
exhausted mascots making their way to their holes, Mickey Mouse playing the start of this song on an electric guitar using Pluto's whiskers as guitar strings whilst parts of Mickey's head and face start to crumble. the sound symbolizing the innocence and concept of the characters and the idea of them whilst the drop or tuning of the guitar (I guess?) showing that they should all be dead as they've been alive for nearly 100 years, maybe more.
feel free to scroll past if that's too weird for you
Sounds similar the the god hates us intro
This was way better than Justin Bieber's, All those rappers' with lil in their names and Cardi B's entire careers(combined)
Probably might come out with another EQ
@TomWhaley621 I have seen them twice, one 8 months before he died so, at least I got to see A7X with The Rev once!!
@airsftdude his vocals are on the song fiction but his drumming still won't be there :/ except they're releasing a demo with his drumming and everything on it
We miss you Jimmy
Isn't thistle instrumental version of God Hates Us?
No.
Why is Johnny bald in this
Cause this was in 2008. They had different hairstyles.
Syn has my shoes
Mr.FinPC what i have your shoes? who are you bro?
The rev is a god
I love this song
If you listen to St. JAMES, It sounds exactly like this for the start of it. Maybe Shadows and gates knew how to make this a full fledged song after Jimmy passed on to pay homage for The Rev
Wait upp, St. James is the old song. It is in The "Diamond in the rough" Album. That time The Rev still alive. Sorry for bad English. Hope u understand.
@@H3EZ its not, its a bonus track on hail to the king
i think this was in direct tribute to the rev, Jimmy is a nickname for James.
It was a "Hail to the king" bonus track that got included in the "Diamonds in the rough" 2020 re-release to flesh the album out a bit. Same way they included "Lost it all" and "4:00 am" on it too, even though they were b-sides and bonus tracks for nightmare.
fucking epic
just turned into buried alive folks...
Jordan Beally not really this was in a different key
Name Song?
Title please
😢😢
Is this an actual song cause it sounds so familiar?
Thanks for loading this one up. I was looking for it the other day and it was no longer able to be watched. Have a back up bro cause this one is the shit if you listen to the revs drums.
Sounds like God Hates Us from the album Nightmare
@daANIMALIannone Hey, i commented on this one month before nightmare came out.
wait...shads said something about this song being recorded for the next album?!
It's the theme of 28 days later
its very similar, but nah.
razed yes it is. It’s their version. It’s a cover but they modified it
Kind of reminds me of exist..
Whats this song called?
Unwind the chainsaw
♡
@airsftdude his vocals will on one song
..which song is it..in their new album..??
rip the Rev
.
@airsftdude his vocals will.
What name song?
It was an instrumental idea they were working on for the album that would become Nightmare, but it was scrapped and retrospectively called a cover of “In a house, in a heartbeat” from 28 days later
@@TomWhaley621 I believe other fans were calling it "Unwind the Chainsaw" as well.
I love this song
foREVer
3 bass drum, only use 2, the other one just to make it look amazing
He's using pedal you can play even 4 bass if your drum God but 3 bass is enough
what is the name of this song ??
Fans called it Unwind The Chainsaw but that was never the official title.
Legend!!!
@TomWhaley621 isn't this 'God Hates us'
oh shoot. it sounds so much like god hates us was based off of this
the name of this song is SO Far Away
No it's not man.
