Synyster Gates hasn't come close to peaking as a Musician. He is a rare breed. A LOT of Musicains stop trying to get better once they get some fame or recognition. Gates has been underrated, but every one of my Students want to learn his solos. This guy gets better with every album. I can't wait for the next album already. Great Band with TWO Great Guitar Players. I think Zack should put together something "different" like a melodic rhythmic based solo. Make no mistake, Zacky V. can handle business on the Guitar. And they do great backup vocals. What a Band.

Yeah, but his melody lines with Gates are some of the best live performances I've seen out of any guitar duo. Maybe he'll write a solo for the next album?
i really hope so. hes my favourite gutarist besides gates, dime and hetfield and vai. really tight rhythm player and he can do some amazing leads too but i like him as a rhythm player

Agreed. He brings that clean, articulate picking style with the chromatic runs you see in some jazz music. All my favorite guitar players separate themselves from the pack through their Rhythm playing.
You bring up some great names which are all on my list of favorites. Tony Iommi, Eddie Van Halen, Jimmy Page and Jimi Hendrix are some others worth listening to.
I've been studying finger picking to expand my playing, and just learned "Braun Y Aur" by Zeppelin. It introduces new music and players like Lindsay Buckingham from Fleetwood Mac. Great comment btw.
thanks dude! theres nothing better than an open minded, diverse metal guitarist who includes differnt styles in his playing. it keeps me interested and keeps my ears begging for more! plain rock or just the newer type of metal like death punch or lamb of god isnt my taste cause theyre a bit bland for me

I did with Metallica there and it was awesome unfortunately there was no solo but now there bigger so I don’t see them taking second to anyone unless it’s Metallica

even if he messes up it still sounds cool it still sounds so clean I don't know if you he even is messing up lol but yeah I love the guy to death but he doesn't really know how to get a crowd going during the solo he just stands there with a blank face in just shreds like come on smile or do something

That tapping solo he did, where he was up around the 12 and 20 frets, I think that's the same solo he was shown recording in the allhaillandronikos video.

He's like a modern day Van Halen. Getting all the credit while their are far better guitarists out there.

Of course there's always a "better" guitarist out there... but this one is great, so let him enjoy whatever credit he gets. If his playing can inspire people, let him inspire people.
Lol... Van halen was unbelievably talented player in his early days but stopped developing.. Ask any one in the 70-80´s.. And it´s not all about playing as fast as possible.. It's his way of using the notes.. He inspired me very much in the later days.. Not overrated for shit.. Just cuz it doesn't fit your taste in music it doesn't mean he's overrated..
I like Van Halen and respect his contribution to the guitar. Without him I wouldn't have Paul Gilbert.
