This solo made me tear up a little. This guy was legitimately my inspiration for drumming. I came across City of Evil when I was 11 and bought a really cheap set and started drumming like 6 months later. This solo just showed how much talent Jimmy possessed. It's sad how he left so early but he will always be with us. May he drum eternally!

I feel that the rev was the Mozart of Drumming. I mean, I see in his eyes, and on everything he played that he had THE talent, THE creativity only a few have. It looks that for him it was really easy, to write music, create melodies, and drumming, and if drumming like god is not enough he had such an amazing voice. If he had never died, he would have composed such amazing masterpieces we couldn't handle them.

@@detectiveshortmen2212 it’s improvised to am extent but the main core was written and was theorized to be the opening to the Nightmare album to set the tone for the album, think of like the System of a Down soldier side intro on mezmorize how that goes into byob like that, but they didn’t get a chance to record it because Jimmy’s passed, so they scrapped it. Unfortunately this is my favorite avenged song and I know I’ll never truly get to hear the song because I think they are putting it to rest with Jim meh because it was his solo ❤️

It’s been known under many names including Unwind the Chainsaw, jam session, Rev drum solo, etc. They played it for years and there’s many other recordings and variations. This specific version is improvised but they’ve played the same song many times where they just jam out over the same backing track and tweak it slightly.
