I picked it up for $300.00 at BB. Best to get the BB warranty in case it breaks. I also put a box fan behind the display to keep the PCB cool and hopefully prevent the red light error.
Thanks for the demo guys. I have this display, and I agree with most of your judgements, but I have some comments as well: you have to remember that it's a display, not a tv. And you can adjust the settings, just use the buttons on the back. I would also say that the dimness is not an issue based on my experience. Finally, I don't notice any ghosting in 3d mode. For the record, 2d picture quality is excellent, and there's zero shutter lag! Hope this helps anyone looking to buy this (it now goes
Its not only 1080p but also LED. They claim its a TV, but its really only a monitor, there is no jack to plug into the wall to watch television, unless you get a cable box. You should be able to play 3D and non-3D depending on the game you're playing.
You should be able to watch TV if you get an HD OTA receiver. You can hook it up either with composite (yellow) or HDMI if you have a higher end unit. Myself, I plan on getting one for use as a monitor.
In the UK, this was a really bad deal at the time. For £499 you could get this, or for £650 you could get a Panasonic TX-P42UT50B, a 42 inch plasma with more smart features, more settings, better image quality and improved 3D performance. At such a low price for the features on offer, it was the best deal by far and the Sony 3D display was a joke. In America where they were $499 and $800, maybe it was a better deal, but even then the plasma was huge and better in basically every way except Simulview.
I bought mine back in 2012 from gamestop for $200 on sale and have had no major problems my only problem is about 2 years ago til now when it gets hot it black screens for a few seconds and comes back and if it doesnt come back than the power light flashes I just turn the tv off then for a minute and turn it back on and its fine the other problem is sometimes the sound goes out and all I have to do is un plug the tv from the back wait about 1 minute then plug it back in and its fine but I still love it the 3D is fine if u set it up right
I've had a 3d capable device for a year (the Acer 6510BD projector) and I've still never utilized the 3D. The Oculus will probably be the first 3D display I use at home.
Great review guys.. It took you 7+ minutes to realize this is a DISPLAY and not a Television! I also love this line by Alex: "This is.... if if we were still doing LAN parties with PlayStations, I wish I had that 5 years ago with HALO" Listen for yourself at 8:46
well its a security job and the shift is actually from 8pm-11am, 15hrs! I have to be at the door while the business is open from 8pm-2am, but right after the business closes the doors i go to my mini van and start playing my ps3 online over an open wifi for 8 of the remaining 9hrs. I actually wish it was two shifts and i get the 2am-11am so i'd just get there to play but oh well.
I bought them about 2 months ago. No problems as of yet, but who knows. For $199 & $159 I'll take that chance. The quality is excellent and the 3D (on some games) is simply amazing. Just buy a SquareTrade warranty for $20 (look for a coupon) and you will be covered in case you get a lemon.
it was $99 on black friday at best buy...so you'd have to cross fingers and hope for another sale down the line. it is typically $180 in stores like gamestop.
This is an awesome bedroom gaming tv. It's funny how 5-10 years ago a tv this size was fine but now it's "small". For the price you won't find a better quality 3d hd tv.
Agreed, especially with their baseless speculation on the competition. You can only know what the competition is offering by actually searching around for it.
And BTW its options for the Xbox i think. You can try for the ps3 but for the Xbox it has the weird option for cache visualization, and it looks like you need 3d glasses to view it correctly.
A. IT'S NOT A TV (It's a DISPLAY) B. It has settings (no remote, because you don't need one). C. It's 24" and meant for a personal display (such as on a desktop or in my case next to my bed for nigh gaming). D. Name another 3DTV LED 240hz TV (With an HDMI cable, a game, and a set of 3D glasses, with charge cable and carrying bag for under $200!). I bought 2 of these for $199 and wish I'm tempted to buy more.
yeah but if ur computer have a hdmi port u can connect the playstation 3d display since it has no vga port and the playstation 3d display has 2 hdmi port
Exactly. They have no idea how much they can get a different 3D TV for or even what sizes they can get. And watching them play it really does absolutely nothing for me because I can't see the gameplay in 3D.
I have a Phillips tv with: - Ambi-light - 3D glasses without Bateries - split-screen with full screen with the gaming glasses. - 32ïnch - Smart tv - touchscreen on the buttom off the tv and that part is all glass!! Yeah mine was not so Expensive..500Euro's. Yes i;m from Holland!
ya and you have to be closer to enjoy complete 3d, and there's no other led hd 3d display this size with 1080p and 240mz, that's what stops me for returning it.
It doesn't make any sense to criticize it's size. If you buy a monitor labeled "24 inches" you know exactly what you're getting in terms of size. I wish you guys tested the 2D cause the monitor is 240hz which makes your games look really freakin smooth, according to reviews anyway.
I just got done playing on my PS 3D display and I had no ghosting images I had some issues with 3D not working right but I took the plastic off the front like they tell you too and it worked great.
Yes you can with your hdmi cable :) I just bought one this morning just to experience it,. not all these t.v.s are bad as some people say. it's really good, it wasnt wortht he $500 when it came out but for $200 you can't expect the best but hey it does what it is supposed to do so far for me its been pretty neat. :)
I don't see what theese guys are complaining about. Myself im getting this as an addition to a dual monitor setup and for my PS3 which will be on my desk. Anything bigger than 24" would just be way too big.
Oh and I almost forget, the add and even the box says its a DISPLAY not a TV, so I don't know why they're complaining so much about how it doesn't feel like a TV... and well, I got in my game room my PC next to my actual tv, all that I need to do is buy a 20 bugs PSI card to plug my cable tv or my antena, plug my HDMI into the PS3 Display, select extend with windows+p, and boom!, got tv again for less than 21 bugs!
I got mine for about 150 at a Gamestop, been using it as my computer monitor and for my ps3 and it's incredible. It only comes with one pair of glasses though so I need to shell out another 70-80 bucks for another pair to do simulview, unless someone knows where I can get one cheeper
I think Sony's having a bad financial year. But still, selling broken TVs definitely won't help them get their sales up. I agree they could make this great TV alot better.
It is not a TV and is not advertised as a TV. If you want a TV plug a HD cable or satellite box into the HDMI or component port and call it a day. There is your TV.
I just got annoyed about them ranting about the size, i dont give a crap about bigger tvs, there heavy and hard to move and frankly to me get in the way for more stuff
I won't lie, it's got an amazing display. Very vivid and compared to my older tv, much better for FPS, due to the response time. But it lasted 20 days ffs. Invest in a more stable TV. I'm sure they're out there.
Not really dude my 40 inch tv kicks ass in cod in game mode. It is saturated as I fine tuned it so I wouldn't talk without experience. Small tvs aren't bad I prefer small screens so I don't have to move my eyes as much but still, it doesn't suck.
Almost 10 years in and mine is still working! Watching this on it right now!
That’s wild! I read your comment in 2023. Is it still working?
@@Darr1071 heck yeah
@@pOpCoRn0531 That’s awesome haha. Btw, happy Holidays

Im finally getting one tomorrow. Took me years but I was kid then and now im an adult and can add this to my collection
yes. It has 1080p full hd resolution. There is a switch on the back for 3D
Its not only 1080p but also LED. They claim its a TV, but its really only a monitor, there is no jack to plug into the wall to watch television, unless you get a cable box. You should be able to play 3D and non-3D depending on the game you're playing.
It comes with the glasses, a sleeve for the glasses, along with a micro usb charger. Which is like 4 inches long.
You should be able to watch TV if you get an HD OTA receiver. You can hook it up either with composite (yellow) or HDMI if you have a higher end unit. Myself, I plan on getting one for use as a monitor.
best buy got mine 3 weeks ago for the same price and went back to buy a few more for christmas and they marked them back up
Mine has lasted over a year and it still works great
i have this display and i really like it. I've had it for 3 months and it is working well. ive had no problems
i use it as my computer monitor, and its great!
Same here.
It is good.

Hey can i ask some questions about the tv please I'm thinking of buying it
guy in the black: you got a budddy to seat on the thing.......
I was just about to get in my car and go buy this. This review, rightly so, made me change my mind. Thank you.
You should’ve got it😂😂😂
But on the plus side you can get it now for around $100
I've had a 3d capable device for a year (the Acer 6510BD projector) and I've still never utilized the 3D. The Oculus will probably be the first 3D display I use at home.

There are configurations with the TV and you can use either a PS3 remote for the TV but 2 of the Sony Bravia remotes I've tested work with it.
I bought them about 2 months ago.

how long ago did you buy them? there are a lot of complaints about a black screen of death or something like that have you had that happen?
it was $99 on black friday at best buy...so you'd have to cross fingers and hope for another sale down the line. it is typically $180 in stores like gamestop.
No it doesnt have tv in. It doesnt have a tv tuner built in. It is a computer display with sound and some inputs.
This is an awesome bedroom gaming tv. It's funny how 5-10 years ago a tv this size was fine but now it's "small". For the price you won't find a better quality 3d hd tv.
Now they just need to make the 3D glasses with earphones built in so each player can hear their screens unique sound.
bought one for 99$
Sure.
Anything with HDMI or Component will work fine on it.
The 2D quality is very good too.
Agreed, especially with their baseless speculation on the competition. You can only know what the competition is offering by actually searching around for it.

$160. it is very good for ps3. netflix, amazon, and youtube works very smooth and well.

Haven't experienced that much ghosting. I think it really has to do with your position facing the television maybe?
Yes i got it today at best buy for $299 .. and this is just awesome .. so happy with my purchase today : )
Exactly. They have no idea how much they can get a different 3D TV for or even what sizes they can get. And watching them play it really does absolutely nothing for me because I can't see the gameplay in 3D.
Yes there's a setting for non-3D and I'm pretty sure its 720p
I got the exact Sony 3d monitor off of eBay knew the seller was newegg and I got it for 100 dollsars .
i got mine for 60! working great

This is not at all meant to be used as a TV. It doesn't even have a remote. It's meant to be used as a monitor for a PS3.
It doesn't make any sense to criticize it's size. If you buy a monitor labeled "24 inches" you know exactly what you're getting in terms of size.

It's definitely worth it now. You can get it at game stop for 179.99
What if you wear glasses, can I wear the 3d glasses over my prescription glasses?
Yes, video game consoles are computer hardware, just like mobile devices and PCs. Computer is a broad term that encompass many things.
I just got done playing on my PS 3D display and I had no ghosting images I had some issues with 3D not working right but I took the plastic off the front like they tell you too and it worked great.

Do you have to buy the glasses or do they come with.
I got it for under $100 (Black Friday) and It works great for a computer monitor
It was $159 for a short time then it went back up to $179. I know that bc i work there, but keep ur eye on it, it could go back down to $159
I don't see what theese guys are complaining about. Myself im getting this as an addition to a dual monitor setup and for my PS3 which will be on my desk. Anything bigger than 24" would just be way too big.
Most 3D compatible games features an on and off option.
I really hope Simulview is the future of split-screen gaming.
It wasn’t :/
@@VideoGamesFreakkLmao I completely forgot this product was a thing. Never seen it in person.
it also for ppl who have smaller siblings who want to play cod or sumthin so i think its a good buy with smaller siblings if ur also sharing rooms?
Should i use this as a monitor or should i look for somthing else
Oh and I almost forget, the add and even the box says its a DISPLAY not a TV, so I don't know why they're complaining so much about how it doesn't feel like a TV... and well, I got in my game room my PC next to my actual tv, all that I need to do is buy a 20 bugs PSI card to plug my cable tv or my antena, plug my HDMI into the PS3 Display, select extend with windows+p, and boom!, got tv again for less than 21 bugs!
I love TRS. Thanks Dan, Jeff and Alex.

you have to have a certain cable box that has output of hdmi or component out.
I love how Dan keeps saying if you spend 2 or 3 times as much you would get a better tv. Isn't that always true.

Oh so here is where that guy from "Project Lore" ended up!
I think Sony's having a bad financial year. But still, selling broken TVs definitely won't help them get their sales up. I agree they could make this great TV alot better.
Dorm room tv? Definitely, I know two people on my floor at school that have them. They are pretty nice. lol
Yes, you can do that using HDMI cable...you can watch youtube videos to learn how to do that...
You guys can adjust the brightness too!
Sorry Thats just the options for nextflix its cache visualization.Ive could of sworn it said 3d
so... it's a ps3 console built in a 3D lcd screen?
i've read reviews of this TV only lasting like a couple of weeks
my question is does the split screen work for other games
plus you can buy a two year protection service for $ 20.00
Ya you can do that cost extra. I wish it had more hookups and it cannot be used with a pc because it doesn't have vga input. oh well.
you can you use it as a tv tho it has conponet in so you can hook up your derect tv box and stuff
It is not a TV and is not advertised as a TV. If you want a TV plug a HD cable or satellite box into the HDMI or component port and call it a day. There is your TV.
At a store? Or on the street? Where?
There are settings, press the buttons behind the display

$179.99, don't get it at GameStop though, go to bestbuy & get the 2 year warranty, worth it!
best buy too i am now using one as my monitor since i got a 32 in 3dtv as my tv
it has very common display problems. i had to send it in for repairs by the first month
Display and Monitor are pretty much synonyms when talking about computer hardware.
Doesnt sony make a TV tuner for the PS3 as an accessorie, could just get that for basic tv
For everyone who's like "I can get a 42 inch for 100$ more"well those are 720p and 500$ dollars isn't a little more for some people
Not really dude my 40 inch tv kicks ass in cod in game mode. It is saturated as I fine tuned it so I wouldn't talk without experience. Small tvs aren't bad I prefer small screens so I don't have to move my eyes as much but still, it doesn't suck.
I hear that it breaks quickly, is that the reason why?
Though, it is a TV. TVs are meant for channels and shows. If you don't have that on a TV, then it is not a TV.
The playstation logo is decieving. For those non tech people, this is just a 3d TV. You still have to plug in your ps3 to play games on it.
ghosting? who gives a shit i just want it cause of the lack of screen peeking
.... TRS is three guys right.... who's the camera man!? D= Give that man some credit too.
i heard this has problems like a bleeding picture and the subwoofer doesn't always work.
must i always wear glasses or i can switch it on 3D or to normal ?
The new $179.99 pricetag is really pushing these displays
The best monitor?
is it worth the money though because I live in a small apartment
Does the screen work for 4 player games like it works with 2 player games?
where can you even buy one of these i cant find it anywhere
Does it still work? I picked one up today for 175 but heard they have had problems.
who has this tv? im planning on getting it. for my small room. is it worth it?
its got settings, buttons are on the back
this thing will be on sale for $99 on black friday. anything higher is too much for this
