    Thanks Teoh for the impressions.
    This product is more exciting and innovative than the Huion 4K. The XP-Pen is so close to a Wacom display tablet with 4K, multi-touch, and a digital eraser on the end of the pen. That digital eraser can probably be adjusted in the software menu and could be used for other functions like smudging/blending.

      @@ajtatosmano2 Maybe. But we won’t know until it’s fully reviewed. I really like the Huion Pentech 3.0. I have the Kamvas13 which I use primarily as a screen less tablet. The Pentech 3.0 is fantastic as it’s accurate and unlike previous Huion pens the PW517 has little spring, allowing better pressure control, and more like a Wacom pen.

    I would love to see Wacom answering to Xp-pen and Huion with the release of a cimtiq 16 2k with laminated display at lower price than them.
    Honestly I would love to see these tablets coming with a cable display port to usb-c bi-directional. Most serious GPUs from the previous generations, which still make an excellent job, don't have a type c port. Like a rtx2060 or 2070 which can actually handle 4k 60hrz easily.
    Thank you for all your amazing videos 👍🏼

    Cool product. Good preview. But I'm not sure about the touch aspect.
    One of the best things about, say, the Artist Pro 16, is perfect palm rejection. Now they've potentially reintroduced palm effects. Trying to do things on my laptop, for example, was frustrating because the display had a strong tendency to register my palm or sometimes fingers. That was what drove me to pen displays in the first place. It looks cool to be able to zoom, grab, rotate, etc. with fingers but I'm not sure yet if it's worth it.
    4K resolution is crazy at this size. Amazing considering XP-Pen's larger displays only reach up to "2K" resolution. I think the killer app for this resolution will be a 22" or 24". I'm sure that's coming, but it won't come cheap. And it had better be laminated.
    I do like the idea of scaling the interface of the drawing program to exactly double (in each dimension) so you can still actually use the interface. But maybe 1.5x makes more sense when the 22" or 24" comes out.
    I wish the pen had a more tapered-out shape toward the tip. I also prefer the pen on my cheap 6.5x4 non-display Gaomon tablet -- personally the grippier rubber works better for me. I also counter-weight both pens using triple-looped small hair ties and the rubber grip sleeve from a Pentel EnerGel 0.7 gel pen -- putting these at the other end of the tablet pen just makes it feel a bit more substantial without adding too much weight or clumsiness.
    It's interesting that this TP requires dual cords for full brightness / function. Not a problem with my desktop machine but could be for some users.
    I wish the Artist Pro 16 had the same sort of insane responsiveness that my cheap Gaomon tablet does. The Gaomon registers the very lightest of light touches and it makes it feel ultra-responsive and gives a lot of control. I love being able to draw directly OR use the Artist Pro like a non-display tablet (with my hand out of the way) by looking at my left main monitor (when I'm using duplicate mode that is), but it does require significantly more pressure before it starts registering a stroke (yes I've adjusted the sensitivity many times). But maybe all display pads are like that vs. non-display ones.
    Finally, I think it's too bad this comes without function buttons, considering the Artist Pro 16 has 8+1 dial and their larger model has 20+2 dials! I'm sure it was necessary to keep the price under control, and of course you can still use a keyboard or smaller dedicated input keypad. But they probably need to go all out on the 22" or 24" or whatever comes next.

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  3 года назад +2

      You make many good points.
      As for palm rejection, it actually comes down to the app you use. There are certain apps that will have perfect palm rejection because they only take pen input, but they will still allow for finger gestures. Basically, they don't register single taps from fingers/palm.
      As for 4K, well, it's an additional option compared to the 1080P model. 4K on 15.6-inch display is a good combination. 4K should work well up to maybe 24 inch (1080P on 24-inch used to be the popular combo). 1440P (1.5x) UI scaling on 24 inch may be a bit small.
      For 1440P, I recommend at least 25 to 27-inch displays.
      Yeah, pen tablets are usually more sensitive than pen displays even if they market the same level of pressure sensitivity. Initial activation force for pen tablets are incredibly low.

In particular, I would like to take handwritten notes on a regular basis, but have noticed that with my XP-PEN Artist 15.6 Pro, I need to put a lot more force than is natural for me to comfortably write (for drawing though, it's mostly fine). As per my experience- wacom is over rated. They make products for disney commissioned people and likes where price doesnt matter. Price to performance ratio doesnt apply to them.
      2. Huion is quick to give latest technologies but cuts price in softwares, hardwares and drivers hence hitech technology at cheap price without durability is issue. (A tablet with lamination, etch glass , 2k resolution etc with span of two years.
      XP- pen at last gives reliability, have strong customer care, products are built to last, hence they are always last to give features as cost cutting method. They were last to adopt battery less pen, usb c connection, still have no products that uses etch glass and rely on AG film. Larger displays arent even laminated.

    Really curious as to how you set it up, I recently got the tablet and the newest driver but have several calibration and display issues like the pen being horizontally displaced and such. My PC is absolutely fine and I want to get right into using it but all the technical issues prevent me from fully enjoying it :(

      What do you mean by horizontally displaced?

    • @doppio_9983
      @doppio_9983 3 года назад

      @@teohyc it was a calibration issue that caused the tracking to be off by a large margin to the left, but I just found out I can fix that through the calibration setting. Now im having issues getting the tablet to consistently connect and am seeing "No Signal" errors despite it working just the other day and I swapped around every different USB and HDMI connection on my pc I had. A lot of the time my monitor 1 screen will just flicker and make the connection noises but not actually connect to the 2nd tablet display monitor.

      @@midollafun Unfortunately no, I got in contact with xp pen support and they are sending me replacement wires now but I doubt it is a wire issue and is the tablet instead, in which case after I contact them again if the wires don't work I'll have to ship it back and wait for the replacement tablet...it doesn't help that its all shipping from China either since it took almost a month to arrive the first time too :(

    I really don't get why the Xp-Pen nibs have a little movement to them when you press them to the screen. It's easy to get used to but I just don't get why it's that way. Wacom and Huion don't seem to have that.

    can you test Affinity photo, Clip studio paint and Paintstorm pro in depth? i feel like i can barely draw circles and can hardly hatch in paintstorm, and AP and Clip seem to be able to pick up pen motions without issue for the most part so far. but i would like you to look at those apps in depth.
