      I have the 16" version, and my laptop specs are not great at all. Intel IRIS+ GPU with 12GB RAM, 512GM SSD, and a 1080p display. It works perfectly with no lag or delay. If that can run it, then any modern laptop, and especially PC, can.

    Finally, the day has come! A cheap 24inch 4k drawing tablet! 🤩
    But I will wait for them to fix the wobbling line problem before buying. That is really a deal-breaker right now.

      I use a cintiq which has no native pressure problems but I still add Lazy Nezumi because i can extra fine tune the lines beyond the already good quality. Lazy Nezumi should also fix any issues with this device. hopefully somebody will do a test and report back!

      i had a cintiq 13hd i bought in early 2014 that had horrible jitter in everything, used lazy nazumi as a necessity.
      Sometime around april 2016 wacom released a driver that fully fixed it, have no idea how it took them so long, but it is possible.
      Hopefully Huion will be in a big hurry since this is a Halo product.

      It doesn't have a wobbling problem, he's using a blotchy brush that's extremely sensitive to pressure, that's the stuff that put me off from buying the 2020 model, I got the Cintiq Pro 24 to avoid this issue then found out that the Wacom did the same thing depending on the brush and speed.

    You can always just downscale the resolution if smoothness is a priority and your pc can't handle 4k60Hz. Would you mind testing it at 1080p or 2k with you 2015 Mac to see if it behaves properly? It still means someone might need to upgrade his PC but at least you don't have to wait on buying it or return it right away just because of it, just that you're less in a rush for upgrading than you might think, at least to wait for a good deal on a GPU which are obviously a bad choice to buy first right now and it is probably better to leave it for later, but you still would like to use it for work and to check for any factory defects within the guaranty period instead of just waiting for the upgrade and find out something doesn't work properly.

Maybe you could do a little template for your reviews so at the end of the video you can show your veredicts, the Teoh Stars System (AKA TST 😂) . Examples... build quality... Drawing experience.... One thing to watch out for when switching to a pen display from a pen tablet is your monitor refresh rate. If you happen to have 144Hz or more, the pen display will feel very sluggish at first. The resolution will also feel very low unless you have one of these 4K models. All in all both types of tablets have their pros and cons!

  • @takumui3332

    Brushes with different pressure curves will massively help to reduce wobbly lines at low pressure. As for clip studio paint, I for instance prefer to use the mapping pen instead of the regular g pen since it has a much better pressure curve that allows me to maintain thin lines without wobble even when the brush size is relatively large.

    thank you for this review! I've been waiting for huion to come out with a high res 20 or 22 version with a higher res (mostly just hoping for QHD and not really the 4k/UHD) because I sort of worry that the 24 might be just a tad too large for my workspace. And feeling like the wacom 22 isnt really worth it because I'm looking for pro features, which isn't something wacom offers currently either. I don't know if huion will eventually make that size with a nice res, but this is def exciting to see them come out with something like this! Currently have an older huion model as a bg artist (gt-156), so been waiting to upgrade.

    I'm pushing to get either this tablet or the Kamvas Pro 16 Plus 4K model, would you say that there is no difference between the two other than the size? Does HDR matter on this graphic tablet?

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  3 года назад +1

      There's one difference though.
      With the 24-inch, you can choose to have 150-175% scaling to get the UI to look like 1440P in which case this is allow you to place more windows, palettes on the display. This improves productivity.
      With 16-inch, most comfortable scaling is 200% which is 1080P scaling. Any other lower scaling will make the UI too small on this smaller pen display.
      HDR does not matter because it's all fake HDR with these pen displays. True HDR is noticeable with 400 nits (measured not marketed) and above.
      The marketed brightness for this pen display is just 220 nits. Actual brightness is less. It can play HDR movies but not with HDR effects. Colours will be good though because it's 10-bit display.

    Compared to the 2020 Kamvas Pro 24, this one looks to have a more tactile glass surface, as well as improved parallax. Would you say that's an accurate statement? At any rate, I'm glad Huion is finally adding Felt nibs to the stylus accessories! Looking forward to your full review.

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  3 года назад

      The drawing surface actually feels similar. If there's any difference, it's only something you can feel with a side by side comparison. Anyway, it's a nice surface to draw on. Main thing is it's not too slippery and has some tactile experience.

    I am used to draw on the 16" FHD model. But I would like to have more details on the pen display on 600dpi canvas. For example, I have to zoom in to check the line smoothness and extra pixels on the canvas. Would the larger ppi 4K display help these situation without zoom in and out? What is the different experience drawing on 24" display beside the UI enlargement? How to choose 4K 15.6" = 283ppi and 4K 23.8" = 185ppi for drawing?

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  3 года назад +1

      You may have to zoom in.
      With 1080P resolution, everything will appear pixelated regardless of zoom. 4K just makes everything look more detailed regardless of zoom.

      If it's between 22 vs 24 (4K), main difference is the resolution. Actually, in terms of value for money, currently it's better to get the models with 2560 x 1440 resolution. If you're low on budget, then the Kamvas 22 Plus is good.

    I'm glad I got the 16" version. While a larger surface would be a bit nicer for pen strokes, I would be without it if I did get the larger one in times like now, where I'm outside my apt/ on vacation. And I can't bring the 24" to a nice part with a portable power bank and draw in nature, although inside my apt, it'd be much better. So there's tradeoffs to be had.

    Wacom will probably be upset that there are basically no reason to buy one of their products now...
    Only thing that I wish Huion starts doing differently is developing a unified driver so everything is updated... maybe release less models and improve the driver reliability across the board, I want to get an m1 laptop but I'm scared that with the new processor and constant MacOS releases the Huion driver for my Kamvas 22 Plus will start giving problems.. anyway I must say I never really had any problems on Windows and since is stationary it won't be a real issue for now.

      I just bought a new IMac M1 (the best version, 16gb, etc) and I can tell you that my Kamvas 22 Plus is giving me some trouble. It works fine most of the time and the computer detects the monitor in a second without problem BUT... sometimes, ( a bit random event ) it does not give me fullscreen even when mirroring the Imac. Most of the times i get a smaller screen with black borders and i have to recalibrate the pen once again. Then sometime goes by and then i get fullscreen again...and yet again i have to recalibrate the pen. On the positive side the pen calibration has never been more accurate. Before with my classic imac the pen calibration was good but not exactly accurate...but with the new IMac M1 somehow, the pen calibration is 100% perfect...too bad i have to keep recalibrating every time the monitor resolution display changes randomly. And worst of all , the huion monitor twice has cause some major IMac crashes making me loose all my work. It works fine, then suddenly the screen goes totally crazy and colorful and the computer crashes. If i try to reconnect the huion right away at reboot the computer keeps having graphic glitches. I need to wait at least 5 minutes before i reconnect the huion 22 ...and then all seems fine once again.... but we never know how the M1 chip will react to the "old" kamvas 22 because this "glitch" happens all the time.
      I started writing this text right now, with my display with a border and then at this point the screen is now full screen once again mirroring the imac as it was suposed to be... but i bet it wont take long before the kamvas 22 will make the computer crash again....
      So i hope the Huion Kamvas Pro 24 does not have this problem anymore... because buying the new Imac M1 was the best thing i ever did. It takes less than 3 seconds to open photoshop and it works fantastic with heavy software. Too bad my Kamvas 22 causes it to crash randomly or has those constant screen display size scale variations....
      Ive been using Huion for my professional work since 2015 (www.icreateworlds.net) and im totally happy with it, except right now because of the way my kanvas 22 crashes my m1 Imac... at random.

    LOL, Windows scaling is brutal. That is one of many reasons I prefer macOS. In Photoshop on a mac, the UI elements are nice and large but the workspace stays a perfect 1:1 with no loss of real estate, even on a 5K monitor (which is 2x the resolution of a 4K monitor).
    This monitor is $2000 vs $2300 for the Wacom (in Canada). The price is so close now I'd go with Wacom for that bit more because of potential long term reliability issues with Huion.
    One advantage of the Huion is that it has no fans. The Wacom 24 and 32 both have annoying fans.
    I would like to see more follow up reviews after a year using Huion and XP Pen. That's where I question buying one as I hear horror stories about support (especially Huion). Products like these should last at least 5 years.

    Hello, Teoh
    I want to know what you think about Huawei's newest tablet, the Matepad 11 and 2nd gen M-Pencil. According to Huawei the 2nd gen M-Pencil latency is around 2ms. This is better than the latency of the Apple Pencil and Samsung S Pen which is around 9ms. It looks impressive, but I want to know a real review of an artist. And I want to know from your perspective. Thank you.

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  3 года назад

      That latency will depend on the app you use. Not all apps will have 2ms. Even with Apple Pencil and Samsung S Pen, their latency will also depend on the apps used.
      Anyway, currently I'm testing Huawei MatePad Pro 10.8 (2021) and it's essentially the same as the 2019 model. So you can see my review for that using the link below.
      Main thing about the Huawei tablet is it does not have Google Play Store and the drawing apps variety is hence even more limited unless you want to use Chinese drawing apps.
      As for the MatePad 11. Even if it has excellent drawing performance, there's no Google Play Store.
