    The good folks at Huion sent me one of these amazing tablet displays and I wanted to share my experience using it for the last couple months. Spoiler alert: it's great.
    Also at the end of the video I've included a short process video of painting the elf necromancer piece you see me working on in the other clips. Hope you like! I'm considering doing more demos of figures & portraits now that I've gotten a fair bit better at those things.

    With over 30 years experience as a professional artist doing work for major publications, comics, portraiture, corporate graphics, etc I have used traditional media and now the latest digital media for my projects. I remember when graphic pen displays were the newest technology and only worked kind of well...sometimes. It was a hit or miss with them back then. Then Wacom came along with a fantastic product that actually worked. So I became a Wacom guy. A few years ago I ordered a Huion 16 inch pen display and loved it. I wanted the larger display, but I ordered the smaller one just in case the quality wasn't up to my standards. I didn't want to waste more money than necessary. It was GREAT. So I then ordered a 21 inch pen display from Huion and it was as good or better than my Wacom. I have used Huion exclusively since then and have no plans to change. The color gamut is excellent. The responsiveness of the pen is excellent. I can honestly say that Huion is, in my opinion, better than any Wacom display or any other brands of display that I have ever used. Why pay twice the price for the Wacom brand name on a display when the Huion is much less expensive and works equally as well, if not better. I prefer the way the pen feels on the Huion to the Wacom. It feels like I am actually drawing on paper. I also love the felt tip nibs for the pen. The felt tip nibs on the pen will give you a totally different experience. Also, I prefer the larger displays because I tend to draw and paint with larger sweeping arm motions. The larger screens give me that freedom. I'm not a RUclips influencer or an artist you may have heard of before now. I am an artist with nearly 4 decades of experience ranging from animated features, to large advertising projects, to illustrating graphic novels. I send my time in the actual work trenches and I must have a dependable pen display to create my work on. Huion provides me with that peace of mind. I am happy working daily with Huion displays and my clients are always happy with the results. That is my honest review from someone who is not sponsored by Huion and did not receive a display for review.

      @@VedranKlemens The Huion Kamvavs Pro 24 is silent. I spend hours each day using my Huion Pen display. I publish a magazine for professional magicians. I use the Huion for every part of the creation process. If it made a distracting fan noise that would drive me crazy. Unless Huion takes a drastic down turn in their quality I will never go back to Wacom again. I own 4 Huion displays and love each of them. A couple of them I have had for at least 5 years and have never had an issue with either of them. As far as screen image quality goes, I can see no real differences in the Wacom and the Huion. For me, equal or even better screen quality, excellent stylus response times, feels like drawing in real paper, color accuracy, and a much lower price means Huion wins the battle.

    I really do think this hits the sweet spot for those people wanting the Wacom 24 Pro but don't want to pay that price. Huion did a really good job with price and value/performance relative to the Wacom 24.

    • @TeamBradley
      @TeamBradley  2 года назад +5

      Absolutely right. I don't really see anything that the added cost of the Wacom is getting you. I'd even say that at the same price you'd be better off with the Huion. I think aside from the name recognition of Wacom, they're going to get stomped.

      For Americans, for Canadians it's $1999,99 and the Wacom isn't too far up there in comparison to this product for me. So I dunno which to choose since neither are "affordable" lmao. Working construction means I can rack good money over the Spring/Summer time, but which product is truly the one that matters is uncertain. Too expensive at this rate. Canada needs to improve its dollar power cause this is BS.

    Yeah, this reminds me of when the Ugee 1910B was still being made. 19inch drawing monitor for only $325 (this was back in 2017!) which cost the same amount as buying an Intuos Pro Tablet. While the 1910B wasn't perfect for color the fact that it was nearly 1/6th the price as the Wacom 21inch Monitors and about 75% the quality really made it a no brainer.
    I'm glad that Wacom has finally been getting some decent competition because their prices are based on name-recognition and industry standard, not because they are exponentially better.

    I had my 19 inch Huion for 4 years when overnight the screen stopped reacting to pen. I contacted the support, said I have an older machine and no account, but how can I resolve it. Easy enough, they answered, turns out I just had to buy a new pen. 50$ investment into a 4 year old 300$ machine and it flies just like before. So glad that they proved everyone wrong about the Wacom-alternatives.

    Wacom has basically backed themselves into a corner and I don't see it ending well for them in the long run. They were the only game in town at one point and so the premium made sense. Even once the new kids came to town but I think Huion and XP pen are within striking distance honestly. You can literally pick up this pen display get 4k, get HDR color range, High color gamut coverage, Good color accuracy get the wireless express key pad and an adjustable stand for like half of what the Wacom equivalent and the experience is is nearly identical. Some might say that Wacom has already been beat. It's getting hard to justify for even the most hardcore of professional artists to justify and there's much better value across the board from the beginner tablets all the way to the top.

    • @TeamBradley
      @TeamBradley  Год назад +1

      Yep, exactly right. If Wacom made the clearly better product, I think they could justify the premium. But they don't any more. They make a comparable product with an astronomical pricetag. I think more and more artists will make the jump.

    Thanks, Noah! I have the 2nd gen 21UX Cintiq. I bought it way back when for the full $2K price. (Argh) I really like it, especially with the "Flex" nib, but it does have serious limitations. The color gamut is something like 60% Adobe RGB (!), and although my big use is comics inking, it would be nice to have color performance somewhere in the ballpark. And of course, the resolution is very low. But the worst thing about it is that it is no longer supported, at least for Windows. So there's a good chance Windows 11 may break it.
    Not only is the Huion model here less expensive, the stand for it presents an even greater disparity: $50 vs $300! I would _need_ a stand, so that's important to me. Like you, I also prefer to use a keyboard and usually have it directly in front of me, between me and the tablet monitor. So if I live long enough and I need a new screen tablet, the Huion looks like a great choice. Thanks for your review! (And your Demoness/Vampire, too.)

      You're so welcome, hope you love it if you do end up getting one!
      I've always been disappointed by the colors on any cintiq I've used. I've probably been spoiled by good monitors but it's a damn shame that a company making devices for creative fields wouldn't try a little bit harder to get their colors a fair bit better.

    I ll buy the 16 inch 4k version the 24 inch is sadly a bit out of my price range, but thank you for the review it gave me a good insight on how Huion compares to Wacom.

    whoa! i was about to get Wacom 24 inch the 2,000 dollar one not the one with touch screen don't need that, but i came across your video, now im debating on which to get, i was told that huion on 4k its only 8 bit not 10 bit like wacom, touch choice i have to make, does your wife like her wacom 32 inch on what she think about the huion? just trying to make up my mind, i use wacom intous pro right now im new to 3d art, will be using it with photoshop zbrush and maya.. but yea i need to get it soon as soon as i get my mind made up, i was a web developer but want to change careers as 3d artist

      I don't know about the 8bit vs 10bit but I can't say I've ever been impressed with the color reproduction on Cintiqs. I always find them a bit too muted and dull.
      My wife does like her Cintiq but it's currently suffering from a lot of dead pixels after just a couple years of use. And aside from the size advantage I think that she'd probably lean towards using one of these instead if she had to choose again. She's definitely looked over at this thing jealously from time to time. :)
      Not sure if that helps but good luck!

      @@TeamBradley Thanks a lot Noah! i think i might go with the huion 24, dead pixel is no good especially at the priced the wacom 32 cintiq is. you should do more videos using your huion.. i been debating on which to get for a month now, i been suing my wacom intous pro in meantime . if you happy with the huion must be that good. i hear people be sandi of their nibs on huion 24 pro whats all that about ?

    The thing about getting a review copy is not about you being super biased, it's about you not having the pressure of having spent a dime on the product. So you may innately and subconsciously diminish some criticisms.

      Eyeballing it based on some of my paintings, mostly. :) I've got a pretty good idea for what the values and colors should look like that they make it pretty easy to calibrate based on them.

    Mixed thoughts. It looks great and is very tempting, but I have problems buying from a Chinese company right now--mixed feelings on that as it is a complex issue. I have three good friends from China, who have family back in China, and boycotting China hurts their government far less than it hurts regular people. But China's aggressiveness and human rights abuses (which my friends do not support) make it a difficult decision. But, dang, that Huion Kamvas does look like a great product. My Wacom tablet is ancient and I probably should replace it. Sorry for the ramble. Trying to talk myself into getting a Huion.

    • @TeamBradley
      @TeamBradley  2 года назад +1

      I understand those feelings! Nobody like supporting authoritarian regimes. But yeah I figure the same thing, that in purchasing from these companies we're helping the employees of those companies a fair bit. Maybe doesn't always work out that way, but we can hope.
      I do love the tablet though. They're making a fantastic product!
