Jody, you’ve been reading my mind?? You see, I’ve been saving for an Oris Aquis for my 35th birthday which comes end of Feb. But I couldn’t make my mind yet which would I go for. You hit the nail on the head with this one. The 41.5mm is the sweet spot. I have a 43mm Aquis Mk 1 and it can look a bit big. I wonder when Oris will get around to a push button micro adjust though. For the price they really should offer this feature.
I own a 47mm Small Second Divers titanium and by far my favorite piece in my collection. Oris is solid and their diver watches are fabulous. Worth the money imo
Black and blue is actually also my favourite colour way for the Oris Aquis. I guess my taste is pretty mainstrea ^^' I modded a blue Orient Mako II with a black ceramic bezel to have a kind of similar look in my collection. Absolutely loved it initially, but hardly ever wear it now.
As I’m a Yeti (8 1/2” wrist) the 43.5mm is perfect for me. The bracelet on the Aquis is so damn good, I like it better than my Tudor BB, any of my Seiko’s. The only one i like as much is on my Doxa Sub300t (super different bracelets for sure)
Having seen some of these Aquis models at a local AD, I find them a bit too blingy and shiny for my taste. However: I would disagree re the size. For my rather more puny 6.7in /17cm wrist it'd definitely be the 39.5mm version, but even on Jody's wrist I prefer the smaller version. But hey: Just a matter of personal preference.
I've been finding myself drawn to 38-40mm watches more. I have a 7" wrist, so I can get away with bigger, but the more I wear watches in the 38-40 range the more I find 42mm+ as too big.
I really like Oris as a brand and definitely want to buy my first Swiss auto from them but, as nice as the Aquis is, I just can’t come to terms with the integrated bracelet (even though I’m a bracelet man, it’s nice to have the option of a NATO or leather/rubber strap from time to time). I’m torn between the 41mm ProPilot Date and a non bronze bezel Diver 65 🤔 I’ll have to get out to an AD when things open up again in the UK and try some on. Great video as always Jody 👍
@@macblack82 Yeah that’s a fair point. It’s a weird aesthetic thing for me too, I think I would miss the lack of traditional lugs visually, if that makes sense? I really need to get it on wrist and see it in person.
I have the 43.5mm but think the 41.5 would sit a bit better (6.5" wrist). They don't look massive though as you say. Love the rubber strap, my bracelet is still new and hardly been on it :). The titanium clasp on the rubber strap is nice and light. Love how thin these are compared to the previous models with the more bulb housing.
I hope they come out with a GMT version of the 41.5. The current set up probably won't work because the the 24-hour inner ring would be too small to be easily legible. But the 43.5 is still wearable even for small wrists.
Great video as always! I’d love to hear your take on the new Oris Calibre 400. Maybe it helps justify their pricing on the new models that feature it? I’ve always felt that Oris is a great brand, but a little spendy for what you’re getting.
Assuming it’ll fit, a Calibre 400 powered 41.5mm like hot cakes it would sell!!! I’d like more colour ways in this size too but I love what Oris are doing with so much on offer at a range of prices.
I think a lot of folks will do the same then . The 400 movement is captivating to look at. That and the trend to the region of 41mm size will motivate folks to buy.
@@alamore5084 I bought the 41.5mm with the black/dark grey fume dial. It’s at a local jeweler getting the entire bracelet and top of the lugs brushed 👌🏻
It could easily be a great candidate for a one-watch collection, especially if you get the rubber strap as well. Also, the lume is so good, in my experience, there is never a time or place when the time cannot be read.
I'll hang on to the previous version. It has finer print on the dial and the bulky bracelet. I like the tooly look of that and the extra weight doesn't bother me. If only I could swop the 'old' leaf style hands for the new straight ones, it would be perfect. But alas that's not possible from what I've been told... Tnx Jody!
Thanks for another great video. I've owned the 39mm for many years and it is the favorite in my collection. If the 41.5 would have been available back then I would have bought it. At 6.5 inch wrist the 39 is almost perfect. The 43 was a bit to big. I would have preferred the 41.5 mainly due to the wider bracelet. I usually wear mine on the available rubber strap. it gives the watch a totally different look and feel. More tool-like, and very comfortable. It is well worth the extra dollars in my opinion.
I just saw the 43.5 at a authorized dealer here in Chicagoland. I have a 7 in wrist and the 43 didn't actually look too bad . I think this is my next purchase and I'm going to look for the 41 and a half which should be perfect. They also had a 39.5 and it did wear small! Jody is right.
Not that I have tried one, but personally I think I would prefer the 39.5mm with a 7” inch wrist. My current watch with unidirectional bezel is c.39.6mm and I don’t think I would want anything bigger. Something I always find very important is diameter of the glass, anything around 30mm (give or take 1mm) works really well to my eye. Could you add this into your reviews please? The new RZE looked promising, but the thin bezel/large glass looked made it look to big for me even though only a 39mm.

Lovely watch, really like Oris. But looks a bit small on your wrist Jody. The taper down on the clasp looks diddy. The 43.5 suits best in my humble opinion. Has to be green or black! Great video as usual!
It's a quality watch, but I don't like the side profile or the weird lugs. If you want a something a bit different then a rado captain cook is probably the one to go for or the tag heuer aquaracer.
I was going to buy the 43.5mm Green Aquis, but now i see they only have the Calibre400 5 days power reserve and 10 year warrantee for the 41mm green aquis and not for the 43mm... SHOULD I WAIT??? Will Oris ever release a green Aquis at 43mm with calibre400 movement?
@Just One More Watch, would you consider getting a Christopher Ward C60 Trident in for review? It has the same SW200 movement, scrapes in at just under $1,000 USD, and comes in 38, 40, and 42 millimeters, all the choice you need. I'd be interested in your take on it.
Hey master Yody! This is a fabulous watch in every respect! It's one of those watches you're just 'well dressed' with in every situation, whether you're wearing a diving suit or a tux. And I like this colour combination, the dial blends in nicely with the bezel as it appears to be black in some lighting conditions. And you're right, if they only made this size it might be suitable for almost everyone. May the force be with you mate!
got a 39.5 when it first came out. interestingly, the Oris website at the time showed a 41.5 as out of stock! Asked the AD and they said it wasn't available. mmm, little teasers.
My first new luxury watch was a Bond-style Omega Seamaster Pro. I bought it from an AD on St. Thomas, USVI. And I paid less for it than that Oris; $1075. Jeeze, $3k and a 2824 derived movement? I was expecting either 2892/SW300 or Oris’sin-House at that price.
I tried on a 43 and 39 a year ago. I have tiny wrists, 6.25 - 6.5" depending on external factors. I felt the 43 was actually quite wearable, but just too big for my taste. The 39 actually looked too small. Its weird because I have a black bay 58 that I wear daily, and at 38mm its even smaller. There is alot to be said for lug to lug size.. there is another problem with the small lug to lug and 39mm case diameter. Maybe it was an optical illusion, but the proportion just felt way off. The watch was small but it looked tall, and that to me is just the worst thing. I like slim watches.
I really like the Aquis and I keep looking at pictures of them, and would love to have one eventually. But I can't justify the price tag. Are they at least adjusted in 5 positions? For that amount, I expect something more.
This isn't a " new" watch. They've had this size out for some time .. but only with a black dial. It's like the " brushed steel " bracelet version they sell. For a dive watch that gets a lot of daily wear, brushed steel may be the best option for a lot of folks...and they only make one for the black dial version. The elephant in the room with this is the new superb 400 mechanism that they've introduced in this range. It's performance makes this watch a second choice...although they are practically identical watches. Good review....as usual. Cheers mate !
Would you happen to know the reference number of the fully brushed bracelet variant or where to find it new?? I've been looking for it for a while now it's nowhere to be found on the oris website. Idk why they don't make more fully brushed versions!
@@mohammadzaman8713 Ok ..I believe the code is: 01733 7330 4124-07824 O5 EB. They have changed the website since I last looked at buying one of these. They are now advertised as " Matt Dial and Bezel and Matt Ceramic Insert "...so it's the"Matt" version...but it doesn't specify the bracelet as being brushed steel as it did last year. If you look at the photos it does appear to be a brushed bracelet. With the poor quality of the photographs, it's difficult to be sure, but it doesn't appear to be as " shinny " as the other bracelets/photos ! It was another utube reviewer who covered this watch...he specifically bought one to reduce the scratch problems. But I can't remember who it was ... sorry. But check with an AD or your supplier. Thanks Jody! Great review! Thinking about Oris divers, I actually prefer the Meistertaucher with the more interesting regulator movement--43.5mm titanium case and bracelet. Joma has them for $2,350 now and that includes the extra Oris rubber strap and dive box. It's got my attention LOL!
We *need* your thoughts on the LongIslandWatch Islander (not the Badger Islander😅), especially the moans and niggles. For many of us, you are the undisputed authority on watches in this lower price range; very few come close to your breadth of watch reviews: Alibaba watches, Vostok, micro, mods, everything. I once remember a big name YT watch reviewer (no names here) who touched a Vostok once and tried the bezel and their eyes widened and they hurried through the "review" overall saying it was strange and alien. It's a *hilarious* video that also reviews the Seiko Sumo and Ball Engineer (look it up, it's there). It starts at 26:03. // Marc says he loans Islander watches for review, but doesn't give watches to the reviewer. I can see how this is less than ideal for YT watch review channels, as it doesn' thelp support the channel. Perhaps Marc may consider sponsoring (directly and not via a free watch) an episode of JOMW like he does all the time for the gentry of the urban persuasion. 🤭
I think I would be happier with a thinner smaller (39 mm) case, and just 150 or 200 m WR. the blue and black combination is ok, but Black on Black or Blue on Blue would be more cohesive. I am not into the integrated bracelet, and the use if a SW-200 with that price. Oris using the McDonalds principle :D
I liked the older paler blue chunkier more tool like one with a blue bezel, wish I had bought it before it was discontinued. I wonder what price an Oris in the U.K. once we get the Brexit trickle down.

Is this thebsame green on the 39,5 and 43,5 ? Love the 39,5
got a 39.5 when it first came out. interestingly, the Oris website at the time showed a 41.5 as out of stock!
I was expecting either 2892/SW300 or Oris’sin-House at that price.
it will depend on size of wrist on my 7.8 inch a diver at 41.5 bit underwhelming really so 43.5 is nice
I could not remember have you reviewed the in-house oris 400 movement one?
Perhaps they could realise some of those more interesting special editions this size, big fan of those interesting date complications.
it looking great on your wrist Jody! u have to buy one.. it's ferfact.
They do exist.
Cheers.
@@ericgrace9995 thanks so much for the detailed information! I'll take another look at the website and try to look past the bad photos lol. With your help maybe 2021 will finally be the year the aquis will be added to the collection after being skipped so many times! Take care!
Edit: just looked it up and I think you got it right! I can see faint lines on the lugs implying they're brushed. I do wish they provided better pictures but this is awesome progress thanks again!
@@mohammadzaman8713 No problem. I enjoy the odd times when I can help make the internet a more "civilised" place by being helpful and not just telling idiots that they are idiots !
@@ericgrace9995 the civility is very much appreciated! The watch world is a good world 👍
I've been looking at getting a nice diver watch and it looks like the quality of the Seiko MM300 and MM200 are going downhill. Would you say that the Oris Aquis would be a great option? I'd probably have to go for the 43.5mm.
hello m8. u tried all of dimensions. what do u think about 39? is it so different from 41? i tried 41 and for my 16cm wrist is very nice but all black color is just on 39. advices? ty so much and happy new year.
For 1/3 the price and better PR, checkout the Tissot Seastar. Very well made.
Always great content. Thanks. Keep’em coming
This will be my next dive watch. I think the all black GMT.
The size looks perfect on your wrist!
Great piece! I have the 43.5mm and love it.
So is this the Oris Donkey sense its blue and halfway between the Yoda and the Shreik?
Thanks Jody! Great review! Thinking about Oris divers, I actually prefer the Meistertaucher with the more interesting regulator movement--43.5mm titanium case and bracelet. Joma has them for $2,350 now and that includes the extra Oris rubber strap and dive box. It's got my attention LOL!
Yes, cool watch!
I have 6.2 wrist inches and I love my 43.5
Will you ever be reviewing a Patek Phillipe Nautilus homage from AliExpress? I am wondering if any of them could be any good
Very nice watch Jody and that colour way really works in that watch in my opinion 👍🏻
Watchmaxx. Is the very best deals on the oris aquis. The lowest price iv seen with the rubber strap little over 1000 usd unbelievable deal
//
Marc says he loans Islander watches for review, but doesn't give watches to the reviewer. I can see how this is less than ideal for YT watch review channels, as it doesn' thelp support the channel.
Perhaps Marc may consider sponsoring (directly and not via a free watch) an episode of JOMW like he does all the time for the gentry of the urban persuasion. 🤭
I like Oris. It's what Omega used to be.
Interesting point, why is that?
I think I would be happier with a thinner smaller (39 mm) case, and just 150 or 200 m WR. the blue and black combination is ok, but Black on Black or Blue on Blue would be more cohesive. I am not into the integrated bracelet, and the use if a SW-200 with that price. Oris using the McDonalds principle :D
A gorgeous diver that would be at home in any boardroom.....the good and the bad.
I liked the older paler blue chunkier more tool like one with a blue bezel, wish I had bought it before it was discontinued. I wonder what price an Oris in the U.K. once we get the Brexit trickle down.
Probably/hopefully no real change, as Switzerland is outside the customs union anyway. Doesn't stop Sterling plummeting though
A video, when the watch is as good as the t shirt ORIS make great VFM from a still Independent swiss company and the in house is fantastic step forward, still great value. For my Gorilla wrists, the bigger the better
43.5mm for me, and I personally think that looks better on you......another watch to look at, Certina Watch DS Podium Chrono, what do you think?
Is the all-black Aquis also available with a 41.5 mm diameter? That would be my choice.
Ah, okay. Soon to be launched …
Nice editing in of the other video footage!
Yoda all the way! I have a 40mm watch on my wrist right now and that's as big as I want to go, really.
What are you talking about? Blue black looks awesome!
