It's a Southern Thing started out as the sketch comedy team for This is Alabama. Now they have their own page which you can visit here: / itsasouthernthing
1-2-3 Magic. It worked on my ADHD kid. When I got to 2, she would yell, "Stop counting!" Have to have a consequence if you hit three however, or all bets off. That's the nature of those little beasties.
Elisa Castro they don’t get to three because of what happens at three usually a spanking extra chores or grounded... and it’s not a “trick” it’s a warning... lol
@Elisa Castro not in our neighborhood. Three had a severe consequence. Sometimes it was as simple as a spanking Other times it was as creative as you now have dirty dish duty the rest of the week or go clean the bathroom With a toothbrush and yes my mom had a special designated tooth brush we used for that punishment. I think she got the last idea because my dad was in the army
Hahahahahaaha, I must have been southern in another life. In desperation once I tried the counting on my teenage daughter. She was alarmed, resentful as I did it... And astonished as she complied almost without wanting to. It was very hard not to gloat or laugh... But it was also clear that was the last it was going to work. Ah, parenting. Toughest job you will ever love.
As funny as me looking up at my teenage son and shaking my finger at him 😅. Of course he had a respectful smirk on his face I actually laughed but he still got my drift 😅 🙃
I was never fortunate enough to get a "1 2 3". My mother went straight ass beat down with her belt that was never out of her reach. We (my brothers and I) even got whippings in the grocery store!!!
Im a Floridian of Cuban descent and I count lol. I don't know where I got it though because neither my Grandmother or Mother did . It works like a charm though!
I've noticed southerners don't hit their kids. They have too many "My kid is terrific" bumper stickers. It's liberal and pisses me off. Whale bumper stickers piss me off too.
"Or else" was my dad's thing. I never exactly knew what it meant, but I figured it must have been what my brother was getting, and it didn't look like fun, so I did what I was told right away...
Don't ever let a Southern Momma get to three, or as my Momma use to say: Give your soul to God, because your butt is mine, or Your butt is grass and I'm the biggest dang lawnmower that you've ever seen!
If my mama gets to three y’all, well, I get supper, but instead of a regular Southern style meal, it’s earth worms. I learned it from my brother. She hasn’t even gotten to two since then, at least with him.
God bless your soul if ya Mama got to three... And is it just me or does it get worse as the generations go up? Mama scared me, Grandma had me hiding in fear after "1..”

Ohhhhh Lordy let me tel youuuu I pushed my mom to 3.......ONCE. I'm lucky to have made it to the next day. After that she never had to say "two".

My whole family is Southern, you don’t let mama get to three. Ever!
My youngest swears that's how she started to learn how to count!!🤣
Ruby Wingo up until my son was four he would count 1 2 4 5 because 3 was a bad number 🤣
You don’t want Mama to get to 3!
I start counting backwards from five. This way they know there aren’t any numbers left when I’m done. No halves.
Hahahahahaaha, I must have been southern in another life. In desperation once I tried the counting on my teenage daughter. She was alarmed, resentful as I did it... My mom used to do this all the time, and now that I’m older I use it on my brother whenever he doesn’t listen, it works like a charm😂
“One”
-whatever I’m not scared
“Two”
-Oh, sh*t, she ain’t playin
“Three”
Actually no one ever gets to three... hmmm.
But 2.5 is like I have 3 seconds left on Earth if it don't get done
These early skits were so hilarious.
Someone in my family got to 3 once. We miss you Tommy.
I thought this was stolen from It's a Southern Thing. And then I read the description.
Always read the description, kids. Always.
Lol 2 and 3/4 (three quarters!!!)
2 7/8, 2 15/16, 2 31/32...
My mom used to say this to me all the time. Except we're not from the south, we live in Alaska. 😂
omg my parents did this to me all the time!!! the dreaded #2!! 😂😂😂😂
Lol! Totally get this. Brings back memories. 😂
I count to three for my cats to come inside. They understand.
Whispof Ash hahahahaha
Man the counting has always scared me half to death
Damn it girl ! , Southern and Oriental ?. I'm in love !!!!!!!
I was never fortunate enough to get a "1 2 3". My mother went straight ass beat down with her belt that was never out of her reach. We (my brothers and I) even got whippings in the grocery store!!!
if i said “no” to my mama, i wouldn’t get a counting, i’d get a whooping on the spot.
I never go the count I just got "the look"LOL
DDarrett Darrett i got both the dreaded eyebrow raise and the 1-2 ticketyboo count..and if u were really bad they called your full name.😂😂
Oh my my, gotta get me a southern girl, that accent warms my soul.
Im a Floridian of Cuban descent and I count lol. I don't know where I got it though because neither my Grandmother or Mother did . It works like a charm though!
As someone who lives in the south. I can confirm that this is very true in many ways-
I got the finger counts and the look. It still works to this day. It is worse when it is a grandparent. I shut up in seconds as a kid and a teenager!
Counting works for every parent 😂😂😂
1- 2 Works for the ladies but men say or else.
I've noticed southerners don't hit their kids. They have too many "My kid is terrific" bumper stickers. It's liberal and pisses me off. Whale bumper stickers piss me off too.
Bull shit. My mpmma beat the crap outta me every single time she got pissed at my brother.
"Or else" was my dad's thing. I never exactly knew what it meant, but I figured it must have been what my brother was getting, and it didn't look like fun, so I did what I was told right away...
This isn’t even a joke you NEVER let them get to three or all the joy and happiness in you life will vanish form existence!
It works for Dads too. I am a cook and use the 3 count to get certain waitresses to pick up their food when they're wasting time.
Haha I never realized how intimidating the one two... two and a half thing is
Everyone's acting like you don't know what happens when you get to three. You get a whoopin', that's what!
Get to 3
And prepare to be knocked into next sunday
The package one got me good. I had the counting and my mom English
Omg this video literally represents my life in my family
I got to three once with one child. The stories of the almost death still are told around the campfire.
My mom does that,I’ve always wondered what three was
OML The 1-2-3 Trick Always Works For Me. It Is The Best!
I remember this from my childhood, it usually came just before a temper tantrum.
Once my sister got my mom to 3...
I ran out of the house screaming.
You have to get to three at least once, so they're terrified of you getting to three all the other times.
One time it worked on the dog. Haha.
Oh Mercy, if only this really worked on computers!
My mom ain't even southern, but she's like this exactly
Wow... love this
Much to my chagrin and shock, my 2.5 yr old granddaughter is unfazed, so far. It worked fine on her father when he was her age! 😁
Who is the actress? She is beautiful ♥
Talia Lin Pepke
So true man I fell the same way
If mom gets to three, you better run because mama bear is coming out!
God bless your soul if ya Mama got to three...
And is it just me or does it get worse as the generations go up? Mama scared me, Grandma had me hiding in fear after "1..”

This Is Alabama thanks for explaining, i was getting ready to ask that question!
Counting, the worst parenting practice ever imagined. Obedience is immediate and complete.
You never want a southern mom to get to three you will regret challenging her, there is "you better get up there before I whoop your butt!" That's why they never get to three.
In the south if you here your full name from your mom you know your in a heap of trouble 🤣
That's pretty universal.
Never underestimate the power of "3".
They don't wanna see three............ momma goes BOOM
I wonder if there is a "mom finishing" school girls go to... ALL southern moms do the counting thing... mine damn sure did LOL
And I'm overt here still truing to figure out what's at the end of the count down...
At least the kids know how long they can screw around
Raised in Texas and Louisiana and mama never counted. She said it once. If you were sick maybe twice. 😏 🤯
That kid is playing with a Gameboy Advanced
Holy shit that was my generation too 💯💯
0:56 me all the time 💻
Moms in the north do this to. My mom has never gotten to three.
My mom. Definitely!
Fun fact. This video was done in one take.
It worked for me!
0:39 Thank you, *SIR*
I didn't know it only went to three. I was expecting ten.
Not just from the southern hemisphere of America, Filipino moms too!
1: Trouble
2: big trouble
2 and a half: deep deep trouble
3: JK when do they ever get to three?
Yes ma'am
My mom just automatically screams and almost beats the shit out of me

One…two…two and a half…two and three-quarters…two and seven-eighths…two and fifteen-sixteenths…two and thirty-one-thirty-seconds…two and sixty-three-sixty-fourths…
in Mississippi, if u reach two you in trouble, 3 yur dead meat
She is beautiful
I cannot believe this....I do the SAME thing! I never get to 3!

When my parents get up to 2 i keep counting up to 20

They go down ;)
Moms in the south also use a kid's first and middle name.
Pretty true
