A big congratulations on discovering a new style of photography. I am amazed of the ability to make a photo take on the effects of a fine art painting. The details of the leaves and foliage replicate the strokes that an artist would use. Thank you for sharing the process and inspiring all of us to embarrass the sunshine and wind. Your love of the forest comes through in all conditions. Truly amazing.
Great video - I thought the images you took under windy conditions were outstanding. Goes to show that not everything has to be sharp and highly defined. Best part of the video? The 'dancing' leaves at the 8:30 mark!!
Fantastic images and great job making lemonade out of lemons and showing the character of the trees and their environment in a dynamic situation. Very very nice.
Great inspirational (& educating) video again. You absolutely erased my scepsis about going out to shoot in windy and/or sunny conditions. Love your philosophical thoughts about "getting better coming out of your comfort zone". This (although short🤗) video opens up a whole new range of photographic possibilities & opportunities to me again... Thanks a lot Simon!!👍👍
Such interesting, and in a way ethereal, images created by embracing the wind and foliage movement...thank you for giving me something new to consider and play with on windy days! In particular I really love the second last image of the wider scene...the captured movement makes it feel like you've caught them in the middle of a twirling dance!
Hey Simon, another beautiful video filled with incredible images. Thanks so much for sharing this. Often shooting woodland in the conditions you mentioned really doesn't lead to great results but you've proved you can make some breathtaking images! The slow motion video shot of the leaves in the water near the end was also beautiful. Thanks for being such a huge inspiration... I have less excuses regarding weather conditions to not to get out of bed and shoot now ;)
Of course! I’d been wondering on strategies to deal with windy conditions. I’ve been over-thinking it! Your video arrived just in time. This is very inspiring.
Simon, thanks for this video. I always want to get things tact sharp, but you have shown that movement within the woodlands can and does produce beautiful images.
Autumn this year has been something pretty special. I absolutely love that image at 6.12, which is hard to choose from this set you have been sharing at the moment. For me, the smaller tree on right steals my attention first, before the eyes travel through the image. You think you have finished looking and then those grasses! You done it again Simon! :)
Hehe, thank you very much James. There's still a lot of legs left in autumn but we could do with the wind dropping and of course some misty mornings would be the cherry on top 🤞
I dont comment much because my English is not so good. But this time I cannot be quiet. I love your pictures, I see all of your videos. You give me so much of inspiration. Thank you!!! All the best to you and your photography. 💝
Great Video…so great to have some advice and examples of photographing woodland in “difficult” conditions. Love the dancing and diving leaves at the end! Thank you very much.
I was just thinking this summer how it would be cool to put a strong ND on and capture movement so that photos took on a more painted appearance. Haven't tried it out yet though. This is exactly what I was hoping in my mind it would look like! Beautiful. Also, love the leaves dancing at 8:30
Simon, thank you so much. I wish having watched this video it were a bit windier today . The motion and dynamic in those two shots is inspiring. The courting leaves were so well observed.
Nice one Simon - interesting ideas - have a few days out & about next week & weather is looking questionable so may well look out for some movement type shots. Great work.👍
18 yo here, as of Yesterday -- was wishing for a camera lol, but I am grateful regardless. Point is that my day is in fall, before halloween - so I went down the road to get some photos with my canon eos t7 and was very frustrated with slow shutter since I didn't bring my tripod.
Wow. These images are terrific, Simon. Although I am a big fan of trees in mist, I am so impressed by how beautifully you captured these lovely woodland scenes in this challenging conditions, that it really makes me want to try out "other" conditions more often and with a more open mind. Thanks for this new inspiration and this new set of excellent work.
Thank you very much, Annette :-). I often revert back to one of the most important things for me - the experience. Not only is the photography easier in mist but the atmosphere, sense of calm, and so many other aspects are difficult to beat 😁
The last 2 images in particular were stunning Simon, the blur giving a lovely wash to the colours but retaining texture. I do like your approach of taking in the context of the scene which I’m trying to emulate in my own woodland photography & not letting it be too subject-driven. Thanks for the inspiration.
Beautiful new images (and the one from last year) Simon. I love the movement. The synchronised swimming of the leaves in the video are pretty special too. You're such an inspiration. Thankyou.
Beautiful video. As you know I love the combination of longer exposures with woodland and tree photography and this video surely connects with me. I love your photos and can imagine how they come to life in high resolution.
I am sure youtube unsubs me from photographers: I was definitely subscribed to your channel, but when this video popped up as a suggestion I saw I no longer was. P.S. great images, and a suggestion: would love to see a photo included in each video of your dog in these wonderful settings.
As I do most of my shooting in western Minnesota and the Dakota's, wind is an almost constant factor. That said, I really appreciated the insight to using the ND filters and creating some creative and artistic shots that make the most of the eternal breezes. Looks, like Meg had a recent visit to the beauty parlor! Don't know what we'd do out there without our adoring companions.
I recently started taking woodland image making more seriously and I've found that I feel a water source, a stream or Brook, really helps me conpose my images. I just fell that the combination of water and earth is more appealing to my eye and helps me create more interesting images. I personally find trees alone doesn't work for me. I like the work of other creators but personally find them uninteresting to shoot myself. Anyway thank you for inspiring me to get out in the woodland more recently and it is thanks to a certain image of yours called Quiet Quercus
Really beautiful collection of images Simon. A backlit autumnal birch woodland is one of my favourite places to be and you've captured and enhanced that fleeting golden exuberance with the movement and cooler blue tones. Especially like that ethereal final image - beautiful balance of detail, movement and colour👌
That was a very nice video. I see you have a padded cover for your tripod head. I've been looking in vain for one - do you mind telling me where did you get yours?
Hello Simon, since i live in Holland, where things tend to be boring. You inspirere me to contrate more on woodlands. There is enough woodland and Not Many Vista’s. Tips om which video’s i should See in before i Work trough your archive? Thank you!!
Love the images, very painterly! I was thinking about trying this recently after I saw some work by John Blakemore - I think he used multiple exposures on the same film rather than long exposures though.
Wonderful example of how going out in conditions, you (or one) might usually shy away from, can induce greater levels of creativity to produce awesome results! Took a quick look at your gear section but couldn't see a reference to the ND and Polarisers you use. Any recommendations? Thanks
Thank you very much. My polariser should be listed but it's years old now (old LEE model) . I rarely used filters so I've stuck with the same for several years :)
May I ask you something off-topic? Do you have the feeling that the climate change is very visible this year than the years before? Here in Austria we barely had any rain, which is not typical for this kind of season, and it looks and feels more than end of September than end of October. As much as I like the beautiful weather it simply feels not right. Well beside that I thank you for sharing another great video with us :) really love the content you create.
Many thanks, Simon. I think every year I say that it feels different, but this year feels especially late. I've had years where I return from Scotland at the beginning of November and it feels like autumn is mostly over in my local area, but this year is still quite green in places. Migrating birds are choosing to stay for longer too!
May I ask why there is so few videos from you out in the field these days, like in nice, foggy conditions? Are you less out with your camera or just havent focused on filming for youtube!? :)
There's been fewer videos this year because the Woodland Sanctuary exhibition has taken up so much of my time. Since then, we've not had much in the way of great conditions, but I've certainly been filming more often (another already recorded). Having said that, if we do get good conditions then I'm more likely concentrate on the photography and retrospectively produce a video if I think there is something of value to say. Always photography first :)
Absolutely love that yellow being turned into that soft fiery blur. An image to truly get lost in.
Beautiful images , and beautiful nature 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
1:46 wow amazing photo! 😮
I loved the dance of those two leaves at the end. Masterful vlog.
Simon, after watching your videos for the last few years I look at forest‘s differently. I wish you put out a calendar.
Love the effect embracing the wind gave. Beautiful.
Loved the leaf dance!
❤❤❤
Interesting ideas, Simon, and some really striking images. Really pleased to see Meg has lost none of her mojo too!

Wonderful photos!
Nice shots!!
Beautifully done
Sweet Patagonia pullover, Simon
Finally, RUclips reminds me again of a favorite channel.
Simon, this series of shots is amazing! They remind me of watercolor paintings.
Thank you very much :-)

Wonderful images Simon
Beautiful photos....
Great photos Simon. Love the painterly style
These are so beautiful!
Ever Watching II had a very nice painterly look to it because of the motion. What a pleasant surprise!
Adding movement to a photo you set the subject free. Great intuition.
Welcome back Simon, Meg and forest. Beautiful, beautiful photos as always. You inspire.
Beautiful video!
Fantastic images and great job making lemonade out of lemons and showing the character of the trees and their environment in a dynamic situation. Very very nice.
Thank you very much, Frank 😊

I may not have seen them all, but these are some of my favorites. Loves this video
Many thanks:-)
Beautiful photos and video. I always get such a kick out of Meg playing in the water, brings a smile to my face!
Many thanks, Verlene :-D
Thank you!
Simon the images were extraordinary, I loved them but, the whole video and music choice was outstanding.
That's very kind of you, Dave. Thank you!!

@@SimonBaxterPhotography Thank you too for sharing the video and pictures :) Yes we do on the wind front too, its stealing all those lovely leaves!

Hi Karin! Thank you very much for your kind comment which is much appreciated 😊
Great Video…so great to have some advice and examples of photographing woodland in “difficult” conditions. Love the dancing and diving leaves at the end! Thank you very much.
Thank you very much! Ah yes, I was fortunate with those leaves :-)
Wonderful shots, really fantastic! Doing Monet-Style Images with your gear - awesome!
Thank you very much :)

Magnificent video without doubt. Very inspirational, thank you so much for sharing
Thank you very much 👍
This is lovely woodland photography. Thank you.
LOVE the wind-induced effects that lend poetry to your images. Hope to see more in the future.
Many thanks, Bill :-)

Wow, Simon.. The image at 4:50 is breathtaking!! And as always, I loved the other images too! Great video!
Thank you very much, Elly :-)
This was one big eye opener for me. Embracing the conditions, the wind and the sun and use it to your advantage. As always thank you.
Amazing photos. Really inspirational. Thank you
Many thanks, Simon :-)

Thank you very much, Roger :)
Some delightful images in this video Simon. Very inspirational indeed.
Much appreciated, Dom :)
Great as always, very interesting and inspiring the long exposures ( Love Meg!)
Beautifully done!!! I loved all images and video and the dancing leaves were brilliant. Cannot wait for the next one❤❤
Many thanks, Karen. Pleased to hear you enjoyed the courting oak leaves too :)
I also am loving making my way thru Gathering Time!! Would make a wonderful Christmas present!! Took no time to get shipped to the states!!
Wonderful images, Simon, very inspiring.
Great pictures, Simon. They remind me at impressionist's paintings.
Thank you, Friedrich :)
Great content as ever Simon
Cup of tea in hand, winding down after Halloween.
Feeling inspired 🙏

Greetings from New Zealand. Love this work Simon. Well done. Another string to your interpretive bow! Thanks for sharing!
Many thanks, Jono :)
I must get up to Scotland sometime. Some great landscapes and woods.
Now that is what you call true ‘art’ 😀 fantastic images and just love the feeling they give you. Great work Simon, as always 😉
Always appreciated, David. Thank you :)

Neet this first picture with slow exposure exposed to the right of the windy colorfull forest.
Pardon?

Always appreciated, Wim! Glad you enjoyed it :)
Great photos as always! Thank you so much for the tip, i know what I gonna try next time in the woods.
Fantastic Simon, I particularly like the “disco” images you show at 6-7 mins. Definitely inspirational for me
Many thanks, Simon :)
Glorious images and an inspirational video once again Simon. I really must save some pennies and try to join you on your excursions one day.
Thank you very much, Stuart :)
Beautiful captures, like your style!
Congrats Simon. That really is next level woodland photography. A big like from me.

Hi Nick. It's a neoprene lens cover. I'm not sure where it came from originally as I inherited it from a client. Does the job :)
@@SimonBaxterPhotography Thanks Simon, I recently bought an Arca Swiss D4 which of course I want to protect, however can't find anything suitable.
