    I worked this attraction 1975-1977 at Disney World in Florida. I have long had an affection for this attraction. I wish I had some memorabilia and merch. Yes, I drove these submarines.

    I am a collector my self and I love to search for “collection tour” videos and watch people show something they are passionate about. This is one of the more specific collections I’ve seen. Very interesting. 🎯

    Disney's Nautilus, the most iconic submarine in history...l remember watching the film in the cinema in 1954, plus my parents bought me the 'book of the film' for Christmas....l watched the Subguys RC model Nautilus cruising his swimming pool 68 years later.. wonderful collection.....

    I wanted a little model of the Nautilus but I couldn't really get many of the models you have here. I wound up buying the Hallmark ornament, removing the hanger ring from the top, taking out the battery compartment screw and getting a long thin metric screw that matched the threads on the sub, and removed the head from it so it was just a threaded rod. Then I took a long 3mm Lego rod and drilled a hole in the end of, inserted the threaded rod and glued it in place so I could thread this black rod into the bottom of the sub. Then I found a weird Nautilus from an anime called Nadia and I bought this little boxed model of their Nautilus used the display base which looks like a rock with the word "Nautilus" on it. I removed the stick they had in it and inserted the rod I had made then finished it all off by dry-brushing the lettering with copper paint. It looks nice sitting in a fleet of ships and boats like the small scale Hot Wheels, Johnny Lightning die cast and plastic models.

    Damn son, I envy your collection, and especially your Tokyo DisneySea model... When I went in 2009, there was NOTHING. I got a die-cast car of the Journey to the Center of the Earth ride vehicle, because that was IT. I was in shock that DisneySea's merch situation was even worse than Disneyland's in California XD So far I've just had to content myself with making a diorama out of the Disney Store ornament and collecting 20,000 Leagues pins.

    I found this video so cool, possibly the reason why I became interested with the nautilus in the first place. Would just like to thank you for one of my biggest obsessions/ interests in a way. Main goal in life for me is to be able to finally find and buy the disney tokyo seas nautilus model, hopefully I succeed at finding one lol. Keep up the good work fellow nautilus enthusiast.

    It's a great collection you have. There have been so many Nautilus replicas over the years,many rarely known or talked about, for instance, the Kawada and Kayodo versions from the 60's. More recently, around 2000 or so, the unreleased Airfix version as well. If you ever get a chance, you should add a 50th Anniversary model figurine as well to your collection. Rich and I patterned the masters for it back in 2004 for release in the Disney Store Catalog.
    Cheers,
    Will

    I got to ride the submarine ride at Disneyland but never got to ride the Nautilus at Disney World. I've been to the Orlando location 3 times, the 1st two the ride was down for maintenance and the last time it had been removed.

      It's a supercool attraction, but just a head's up that Mysteries of the Nautilus is a walkthrough, not a ride. You get to hang out in the Nautilus, but it doesn't take you anywhere :)
      Disneyland Paris as a whole is awesome, but if you get the chance, take a side-trip to Nantes or Amiens. Nantes is where Jules Verne grew up and there is a museum devoted to him there, as well as Les Machines de I'ile. Amiens is where Verne lived the latter part of his life. A museum was made of his home and you can visit his grave in the cemetery.

    There is one detail you got wrong in the "recovery" version of the Nautilus. Because the Skiff should be missing, since Professor Aronax, Ned and Conseile used it to escape before Vulcania blew up

I also have the Hallmark ornament, but, I sure wish I had the big replica you showed from the Tokyo Theme park! I have an older, resin kit that my Father bought me years ago and stilll have to build it when I get the correct paints! Did you know that there are paper models of the Nautilus that you can download for free? I have one built in my collection as well!

  • @MrKmoconne
    @MrKmoconne 2 года назад

    I had to stop watching your video several times. Why? Because my luck getting a good Nautilus replica has been not so good. Life and interests fluctuate and my timing has always been off. (I'm thinking of that glorious Nautilus put out by EFX. Perfection for the price) I think your best piece is the X-plus Nautilus. It's the most accurate one you have. I do have a resin kit that is probably from the same molds as the Master Replica but the most glaring inaccuracy of that boat are the rakers: they just are not shaped right. That said, they all look great and only us vaguely obsessives fans will notice the flaws in the details.
