I used to work for a company that had me p/u some extremely rare books at what I think is the only very rare book shop in L.A., so I learned a little bit about them. That same shop told me if I ever came across a rare book to come to them and they would help me to determine if I should auction it off or take another route. The rare book people I have met (Sellers and Buyers) have all been very pleasant people to deal with.

Big respect for this man, don’t let them push you around when the guy says “I gotta make more than two grand” funny how they never want to hear your sob story before they lowball you anyway and then complain about a measly 20% return on what could be a quick and easy sale since, again, as Corey tactlessly pointed out, he knows ‘lots’ of book collectors. Smart enough of the seller to come down to 9500 at least to avoid a refusal out of pride or spite alone, though.
However much this show is staged/fake and purely for entertainment, apparently the truth about Corey is he apparently is fairly high IQ and surprisingly self-educated.

There's still yard sales where I live (SF Bay Area). The go-to place to look is on Craig's list. Or that's the best I've found. Look up the sales, get a map and plan your route. I haven't gone to as many sales since the plague came around.
