FUJIFILM X-E4 Video & Vlogging Test | Is it good enough for YouTube?

  • Is the Fujifilm X-E4 good for filmmaking as well? I’ve been using my Canon EOS R as the primary video tool for my RUclips channel for about a year now and I’m amazed at how well this little X-E4 does for video. The biggest complaint from filmmakers is the lack of IBIS, but how big of a deal is that in practice? I decided to pick up the Fuji 18mm f/2 which is one of their oldest lenses to see how the X-E4 holds up.
    Something I failed to mention was if the X-E4 has overheating issues. I never ran into any after using it multiple times for prolonged B-roll and talking head segments. I believe the fact that the X-E4 isn’t weather sealed actually helps in this regard.

    Love seeing the bts of the backyard.
    Like the 18mm. I always forget that I own it though. I’m mostly using the 16 1.4f these days but the size of the 18 on the x-e4 seems perfect.

    Looked much better than I expected! Personally wasn’t that jittery to me, for a vlog I felt it was pretty smooth compared to my Sony a6400 lol. I’m considering the Fuji xe4 for smaller compact size and colors. Plus I don’t like overly produced vlogs, I like it to be a little not perfect, so this might work. Considering the XS10 as well, but might be too clunky. What do you think, much different between two sizes?

    I have the XE4, and use it with the surprisingly good Fuji 15-45xc lens. It has OIS, is light, and has a motorized zoom which I like. Of course, it’s not the fastest lens in the world (3.5-5.6), but I find it’s a good compromise between lightness and usability. Give it a try.

    Yeah as far as vlogging goes, it was jittery but I mean 🤷🏻‍♂️ that’s expected with no stabil. so for people who are ballin on a budget and really care about that, they could grab the 18-55 with OIS and call it good. In studio shots looked amazing and on RUclips on an iPhone I couldn’t tell the difference between that and the eos R. As far as autofocus on the old Fuji lenses, that one looks like it performed really well! The new Fuji cameras do a great job pushing the autofocus of the old lenses to much much higher speeds than ever before. The 35mm 1.4 is one of the clunkiest for autofocus and I notice a huge difference having it on my X-Pro3 (same AF as the X-E4) vs my X-Pro1 (literally their first interchangeable lens camera). So that’s pretty cool. In the end it’s about how particular the buyer wants to be. Great video thanks for sharing your discoveries!

    • @maxi.designs
      @maxi.designs 3 года назад

      I was deciding between those two setups as well. We really difficult decision. I decided to go with the XE4 as I want to benefit from the 1.4 aperture. But the X100V would also be great, especially if you need weather sealing this is the way to go.

    • @jazzyx95
      @jazzyx95 3 года назад

      @@maxi.designs I'm struggling between the large aperture and the weight of the cameras. I tried out an X100V in store and it feels significantly lighter than the XE4 + 35 1.4 or 23 1.4. I can't help but to wonder if shooting with the X100V will be a much nicer experience due to its weight and the larger viewfinder. Also I find the XE4 a bit uncomfortable to hold due to the lack of grip, without the grip my fingers are constantly touching the bottom edge of the camera which is kinda sharp.

    • @AndreasFphoto
      @AndreasFphoto 3 года назад

      I haven’t had a chance to travel with my X100V yet, but travelled a lot with my previous X100F. It’s really amazing to have such a small camera on a travel.
      Small and extremely capable. And now that the X100V is really good at f/2 it’s even more amazing. The difference between f/1.4 and f/2 is one stop, but personally I find it negligible. I really think it’s not worth it when you take the weight and bulkiness of a camera with 23mm f/1.4 into consideration.
      And the X100V's silent leaf shutter and built in ND-filter is the icing on the cake.
