Just picked up the X-S20 as an upgrade from my X-T3 and can't wait to start using it. Thanks for the tip of disabling eye-tracking...and also eliminating buyers remorse. Gonna shoot some cool stuff with this camera.
Hi. After some months of use, how was the XS20 experience for you? I'm also contemplating on moving to the XT3. What's holding me are its non-retro looks (which MAYBE one of motivation ls to pickup a camera and shoot), no weather sealing (no matter how overrated that is), shutter durability (likely lower rated shutter life), build quality durability, flippy screen (though I may learn to adjust). I really don't shoot video. My photography is mostly food, street, travel, life documentary. My interest with the XS20 are the updated film sims, AF, compact form factor and perhaps "faster dials operation" since I shot paid gigs using the conventional DSLR then (even if the XT3 can also do the same). Your thoughts? Thanks in advance.
Got mine 2 mos ago. I want to like it more than i actually do. I got overheating warnings in 81 degree weather while shooting photos...not even video. Also, i received way more unusable shots from missed focus than i ever did on my a6600. Its a decent camera with some good specs but it's just not great. Overall it's unreliable. I'm already considering selling mine.
I ordered this camera today, so I'm glad to see your recommendation. I had ordered the x100vi but got tired of the wait. Your graded video looked terrific.
The following comment is about the photography side, not video. Until maybe a year ago, I was full convinced that full frame is always better. I have Canon DSLRs, APSC and FF and always thought about going mirrorless with RF mount and only with a full frame one. But i tried some APSC cameras, like the humble Nikon Z50 with small primes, and there's a image quality difference but it's much smaller than before. I mean years ago when you compared a 40D vs a 6D or D70S vs D700 the difference was HUGE. But now you have great APSC lenses like the Viltrox 75mm f1.2 or the Sigma 56mm 1.4, even small zooms, and now the software can clean the noise and extract more information from the raw files. Even the raw from cameras are cleaner with less croma noise. I will wait a year, until 2025, and now I'll buy a used XS10 or XT3 with an small lens to try. Fuji made a great move opening its mount. Small lenses are so convenient to travel or even to use daily for street. Now it's time to sell my old big clunky Canon cameras and wait if up to next year Canon opens the mount, but even if Canon do it the Fuji way seems better overall.
I know I always write the same comment but you are killing the game of colour grading my friend, footage is just stunning! I love my X-T4 but tented to get this for a lighter set up when I am on the go, weather permitting :) because I will miss the dials too much as a primarily a photographer and only learning video recently.
I usually just put my focus square in the middle and one click up for vlogging with face and eye detect off. If i'm in the right or left of the screen then make use of the flip screen and move the focus square over. when i bought my first fuji years ago was the last time i used eye detect
I love the X-S20 - pre-ordered it and the new Vlog mode is so great. Perfect family travel camera and perfect vlogging camera for my youtube channel - also perfect B-Cam for weddings,
Thanks, that’s just a title plugin, I think it was from motion vfx + custom animation via keyframes and added motion blur. Then exported to ProRes 444, so I can always insert it.
Your B-Roll footage at the start of this is now my new inspiration for what I want to shoot one day. Its freaking incredible. Thank you so much for this review! I am really struggling to decide between the xs20 and the Sony 6700. I love the colour science out of Fuji, but Im worried about the autofocus in the xs20. Other than eye tracking, were you completely happy with the autofocus?
Which camera did you ultimately decide on? I have sony full frame glass that I can still use on the 6700 but everything I see is pointing me toward the Fuji! Just seems like a much more fun camera to carry around for everyday use
Thanks, as mentioned towards the end, I‘d recommend the X-S20 over the R8. Don’t have the R8 anymore, so can’t do a proper comparison. But you can see the dynamic range comparison for example already in this video.
Great video. I have been getting card errors regarding two different card brands. I am still learning the camera but have been familiar with fuji since 2014, so I know menus and video shooting is a learning curve for me since I am still the first photographer but want to learn video to the fullest.
Hey Pascal, really nice review! I got the Fuji X-S20 this week as well🙂 I am new to Fuji X. Since you mention it a lot in the review: What kind of video settings would you recommend for RUclips videos (No Flog / without color grading)? I think about: 4k, H265, 4:2:0, 200 Mbps, Eterna (?) Looking forward using this camera! Bist du eigentlich Deutscher? Es hört sich so an 😀
If you aren’t color grading I’d definitely use a film sim with more color. Like Pro Neg Hi, or Classic Chrome with color +3/4. You also don’t need to shoot at 200mbps if you aren’t grading
Don't bother with 200 mb/s. Save the space on your SD card and record 100 mb/s if you're doing 24, 25 or 30 FPS. There's no perceivable difference in quality between 100 and 200 mb/s, in my experience and RUclips will compress the video to about 50 mb/s when you post it. Also, might as well shoot 4.2.2 and get slightly higher quality footage. My setup is as follows: 1080p 60fps: 10 bit, 4.2.2, 50 mb/s 4k 30fps: 10 bit, 4.2.2, 100 mb/s 4k 60fps: 10 bit, 4.2.2, 200 mb/s 6.2k 30fps: 10 bit, 4.2.2., 360 mb/s
What’s been said already, h265 100mbits for 4K up to 30p is enough, both for silmsims and flog2 in 10bit 422. That’s what I use as well. 200mbits for 48-60p. Jau, bin Deutscher 😉
Hi, great review. I am wondering how would you rate X-S20 IBIS compared to R8 with stabilised lens like RF 35 f1.8 ? Does R8 then provide smoother, less jerky footage when pointing and panning ? I really have a hard time deciding between X-S20, R8 and new A6700 but both Fuji and Canon have those nice colors to begin with.
@@pascalbasel yeah, I watched one creator who actually returned the camera because of this. Makes me wonder how that could happen. Had me convinced until I saw this🙂
Nope…don’t think IBIS good enough to walk with, but I would say that about most cameras other than action cameras or M43. It is good enough for a few seconds if needed, but I simply wouldn’t walk and talk as a rule. Great video and nice camera, though as a travel camera it would be nice to have it weather resistant. AF without eye tracking looked good! Great advice about overheating on cameras in general!
@@pascalbaselHello Pascal, Can you explain why please ? My needs are content création video at home and USB live streaming 2h+. Podcasts recording with 2 or 4 people too. Which Lens do you advice for this need ?
I'm looking for a beginner camera and even though I would love 4K60 to use slow-mo I think I can hardly justify a €500 jump from the X-S10. I guess I'll use 1080p whenever I do slow-mos for now and then if i still like it in some years a more advanced Fujifilm camera can be an upgrade. But for €888, I think the X-S10 is just too good of a deal.
I guess you aren't planning on doing commercial work so the XS 10 is a great camera. Actually it works well for commercial work too. In truth outside the video specs there are two reasons to get the XS20. One is the battery life. Easily overcome by buying a couple of aftermarket batteries for the 10. The second is tracking and auto focus. That is where the XS 20 leaps ahead. In any case if you aren't sure which way your photography interest might go then if cash is no object get the 20. Otherwise get a 10 and just go out and shoot, have fun.
@@kaneclements7761 I since got the X-S20. Got it for €1199, so the price jump wasn't that massive anymore, and now I have sth future proof. My photography/filiming skills are heavily bottlenecking though :D
this looks like the perfect camera to take on my Japan trip! any reason why you didnt go for the fujifilm kit lens 18-55 and chose sigma instead? I heard fujifilm focuses better
Great video! :) Been using the XS20 for a few days now and found out there's no audio for footages I shot on 4K60p. Does anyone know how to fix this (if even possible)? Thanks!
Ours has audio in 4K60P. Maybe look into your levels for different custom modes and make sure that even if you shoot in custom modes that the mic jack setting is set to mic even on the movie mode. I had that issue few times when this was set to line under movie mode but for mic in custom mode that it didn't work.
I love your color grading! Do you have a tutorial on how you do it specifically? Also looking forward to a Tamron 10-20mm f2.8 vs Viltrox 13mm f1.4 review/comparison.
Great review! Waiting to pick up my camera. I cancelled my initial order, but then ordered the body with a 35 mm lens. I want a solid zoom lens, but not until I recoup my savings ahaha.
Have you seen if the custom AFC settings affect the eye autofocus stickiness? I had random hunting when i was taking bursts with the default but got better results increasing the "ignore obstacles" setting. Otherwise great review!
I only talked about video in this review. So I’m not sure about the setting you mentioned. I tried slower AF-C settings for video and it didn’t change much. Only turning eye tracking off helped.
Thanks for that great video. Still i want to say. Why are you talking about the IBIS, when its not even working? Its shaking like hell... what is it for than?
If it wouldn't work, I couldn't have shot all the b-roll straight out of my hand. That vlogging footage doesn't look smooth is okay for me as it makes it look authentic.
Excellent insights! For image quality, IBIS, dynamic range alone(no ergonomic, WR, video specs), how is the XS20 different from the XH2S for 4k60 mode? Is the $1200 US price difference worth the cost?
It has that little crop, but I’d say the difference is only noticeable in side by side comparisons and only in certain shots, especially high dynamic range or sports, when the rolling shutter of the XH2S shines. But for normal shooting, the difference wouldn’t be noticeable in most shots. 4K120 is missing tough and no ProRes etc. but not many really need that.
Hi, thanks for the video! I was wondering if you've also managed to get your hands on a Sony a6700. Im hesitant between getting the fuji or the sony. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated :)
@@yongkwon4777 most definitely not, but it’s the best and hunts the least of the brands. I’ve heard complaints about Sony as well. There is no perfect AF.
@@Eyeofkamau I mean, of course its mot perfect. But as a owner of sony and also use fuji, its nothing to complain about. With minimal understanding u can make it almost never lose focus
Fair review. I still have the XT4 and the Xh2s and yes fuji need to do some work. Video AF is not as it should be and video ibis is not there too. At least there is no wobbling. As a xh2s owner I have to admit for that high price (in germany even higher 2749 Euro) I was expecting more for video...they say it's their flaggship and they offer you still no Touch focus for video or loading luts.
Great review as usual!! 😊 I felt a little bit mentioned when you talked about the film sims 😬 love Eterna for video! After using the XS-10 for two years I recently upgraded to the XT4, which specs are quite similar to the XS20 (despite the 6K open gate). Form factor is definitely a good selling point for the XS20, but a used XT4 is way more cheaper. But overall the XS20 is an absolute beast for its size! Looked forward to the Tamron wide angle zoom, but on 11mm with F2.8 it’s just not enough background blur imo. The Sigma with the 18mm is not wide enough for vlogging, same as the Fuji XF18-55. Prefer the Viltrox F1.4 here (but it’s bigger and heavier). But IBIS wobbles looked quite good, even on 11mm! Definitely an improvement as well as using the newer battery! The old one on the XS10 really sucked… if I think about all (minor) disadvantages of the XS10, Fujifilm fixed it with the XS20! But I am happy with my XT4 right now, but once the XS20 is a little bit older and can be bought on the used market, I will have a look 😊
@@pascalbasel Yeah fun is the right word! I just enjoy shooting Fuji and the XT line is hands down the most beautiful digital camera 😍 although dials are completely useless for video haha but look nice 😊
Hi, you're very good. I have been following your videos for quite some time and I respect you a lot as a professional. I use the fujifilm xt4 both for behind-the-camera shooting and for vlogging style shooting (combined with the xf 16mm 2.8 to stay light). it's a light set up, but I would like to make it even lighter with this fujifilm xs20. I am attracted by both the lightness and the open gate of the xs 20 which I would use for the stories I write in vlogging style to adapt them as Instagram reels. How does open gate registration work? Is the autofocus in open gate reliable? can I record half an hour of vlogging in open gate? I haven't found any videos where the open gate for vlogging is tried. Have you tried it? thank you and greetings
Hi Pascal, I baught the xs-20 few months ago & love it. When I baoght it I had photos in mind, now venturing into video I am facing a problem. My PC can't handel 10 bit footage. I have to shoot 8 bit for the time being, before I can upgrade my PC. My question is if I shoot 8 bit 4.2.0 f-log 2, would I face issue grading that footage?
I really wanted this camera. So badly! I love my X100V so much, but the lack of Sony-level auto focus is unfortunately a non-starter. Totaly bummer, because otherwise it looks like this $1.5k camera could easily replace any $3-4k setup today, particularly for travel.
@@pascalbasel but would you say perfectly as in reliable enough not to lose shots? I never missed focus on my A7S III doing anything, even moving around a lot. And I’d hate to go home and realize one shot was out of focus.
@@TechWandererYT I only tested it for two days, but since I only used face tracking without eye, it never missed within that time. All the A-Roll, except for the very first one where I show the X-S20 was recorded like that and I didn’t notice any hunting.
Have you tried using it as a webcam with a macbook? Seems to generate a blank image when connected directly even though it is supposed to work without any software.
Thanks for this review Pascal. I was looking at the Sony a6700 since it has a lot of the latest Sony features but to see a lot of the reviews out there so far with the overheating issues within a few minutes it seems like the xs20 can actually be relied on for professional shoots for the extended recording times in heated scenarios. Does the back of the camera also have holes in the back to allow the fan for the xh2s to be attached?
Hey Pascal, are you going to do a review of the Tamron 11-20 for Fujifilm? I’ve been waiting ages for a focal length around this range in f2.8 for vlogging on my XT4. But heaps of reviews show bad focus breathing. Would love to see how you found it for vlogging. It’s expensive if it’s focus breathing is so bad haha. Thanks!
I personally don’t go over 3200 because that’s the second base iso for flog2. From there, every step up in iso is the same as raising the exposure in post. However, you can go higher to see how it will look like on the screen. I would do max 6400 in that case.
I know you've used this camera in southeast asia, and I'm looking to buy this camera for my vlogging/photography trips to SEA also, as an upgrade from my canon 77D. I have heard that the X-S20 has an overheating problem, have you found this to be an issue or is it somewhat overblown?
@@pascalbasel ah I see, thanks for the reassurance, I plan to use it for vlogging but for A roll 4k 60fps, can't see myself going over 15mins in one recording.
@@Alxei23456 Yeah, don't do A-Roll in 60P, it's a waste of resources. RUclips videos actually load slower in 60P as they need a higher data rate. If you like it smooth, use 30P.
Can you take a 27mm lens on it for good pictures? I’m a beginner and i want to buy my first fuji but i don’t know if i gonna take the xt30ii or the xs20 .. in future maybe i want to take more videos too so i’m in doubt . Thank you for your opinion
Hello friend! I have an XS20 and a Viltrox 33mm, in some tests I noticed that my videos in "S" mode, shutter priority, the change in exposure from dark to light environments keeps pulsing in a strange way, not being smooth as it should be. Could you please tell me if this happens with other lenses or just with this Viltrox 33mm lens, or would it be a problem with the XS20?
@@jfranco3281 F3.5 on APS-C is kinda like having everything in focus… I think I’d actually like this lens because it looks unique, but it would only be there for vlogging and landscape shots. I’d always have to switch lenses for actual b-roll. 11-20 and 13mm are a lot more versatile in that regards. So the 8mm is not really a viable option.
Great video Pascal! Love your vids and taught me a lot about Fuji and canon! I know a few sentences in German Your English is virtually perfect like many modern Germans and scandinavians. I’m not shitting on you or your English please know that I’m just offering some polish to an already expert level. When you say “you can judge the ibis wobbles BY yourself” that means that I can only judge it when I’m alone, or if I’m watching this video with someone else I can’t judge it with consulting the person I’m watching the video with. Whilst everyone knows what you mean and it doesn’t detract from what you’re saying it sounds a bit weird and makes the ears prick up. What you mean to say is “you can judge the ibis wobbles yourself.” I guess a German equivalent of the weird part is if I used the incorrect article “Wo ist das Fenster” whilst you know I’m asking where the window is it just sounds or feels weird. I really hope you’re not offended by this comment I went through Germany and Austria using the incorrect articles for things and wished a German speaker corrected me rather than being super polite!
Would you chose the sigma 18-50 over the fuji 18-55 despite not having ois? I got the Fuji one. The standard heat warning came on after a few minutes even just browsing the menu on my x-s20. Did you do the overheating test on high?
If the camera has ibis then the 18-50 sigma lens is gonna be better, but the 18-55 stabilization is great. For XT-3 or XT-30 and etc definitely 18_55 is better

Got a sony zv e10 but its ended up as a b roll camera. Use my gopro for vlogging. Stabilisation. Small. Pocketable. Not sure how you vlog with these bigger camera's!
GoPros are great for vlogging, but I prefer proper cameras. E10 is my most hated camera haha, just too much rolling shutter. Quite small tough in my opinion.
@@pascalbasel Most hated? So best Sony for vlogging is? Also I'd love to see you and others in a video of you actually out and about vlogging with these bigger cameras, gimbal etc. Bet you stick out like sore thumbs! How do you wander about on a holiday for instance, vlogging with a beast like that? Thanks for reply.
@@Life_of_John I shot all of my recent videos with Canon R5, R6ii and 2 videos with R8, all with RF 15-35 F2.8. Very heavy setups… The big guys in the niche (Matti Haapoja & Peter McKinnon for example) all vlog on such big setups. Just do some sport haha. The reason I don’t like the E10 is the rolling shutter. The moment you move it a little too fast, the whole image wobbles and that can’t be fixed. On a tripod it’s great but for nothing else. Best vlogging cameras from Sony are ZV-E1/a7Siii/FX3 or FX30 if you want to go APS-C for smaller lenses.

I will buy this for hobby and landscape shooting. Do you think this camera is worth buying? Otherwise, can you recommend me a camera by adding a price, I would like to ask you to suggest the most ideal lens and camera for landscape and nature shooting. I would be very pleased if you could help me.
I think it's a great camera I'm a big fan of Fujifilm cameras. I have the XT5 the issue I see with this camera in Australia. Maybe this is just Australia is the actual price. The price of this camera is actually almost the same price as an XT5 and I can honestly say I would get the XT5 over this camera. Yes this might have better video features bar as an all-round camera. I would buy the XT5 over the S 20 that's just my thoughts though and I've used the S 10 as well which my son has and I love that little camera. It's a pretty good upgrade from the S 10. It almost sits in between the XT5And the S 10 but the problem I have with it is the price in Australia is insane but then again all cameras are ridiculously expensive here.
Personally, the IBIS is not as good as I expected. It's unfair to compare it to an iPhone, but either the road you filmed on was really rocky, or the IBIS did not do its job :/ I'm saying this, because I'm considering to buy my first camera and the difference in price between IBIS and no-IBIS is quite steep. Now that I see some footage, I'm not sure if it's worth the extra money. Could probably buy a gimbal for less, right? :O
Definitely get IBIS. It's not about big shakes while you're walking, it's about the small constant jitters the IBIS removes that makes non-IBIS footage unwatchable. Gimbals work too, but you will likely end up not using it much as it always takes time to set up, takes extra space and adds weight to your bag and makes the camera heavier to carry. A good solution is to use the DJI Pocket 3 for vlogging while walking and a camera with IBIS for everything else.
@@pascalbasel Thank you for your reply! My initial plan was to get a camera with IBIS instead of paying extra for lenses with OIS. Of course, why not combine both for that extra smoothness. You are right. I forgot that my main use of this camera is taking photos (not videos) and IBIS will greatly reduce the micro jitters. I will soon watch your other video on this camera from 5 months ago ;)
For that, you want a good low light camera (at least for scuba diving) as the light gets low and there should be a diving case available. I‘d look into Sony a7Siii or a7iv if more megapixels are important for photo for that. Many people also use the R5 for that.
Does anyone have this issue when shooting video in a custom mode? Every time I move the dial to a custom mode, the shutter speed goes to the wrong setting (not the SS i have set). For example, I have C1 set to 4K60p with the shutter speed set to 120. Every time i move to another setting and back to C1, the SS moves to 60 and doesn't let me change it unless I go into the Q menu. The custom mode is set to video and manual. Please help, thanks!

Thanks for a good intro video. Just starting to get into video with this camera and the Sigma 18-50.
Great choice
Great video. Can u pls do a comparison of R8 vs XS10 as they are in similar price range. If u had to choose one which one would u go for and why
Thanks, as mentioned towards the end, I‘d recommend the X-S20 over the R8. Don’t have the R8 anymore, so can’t do a proper comparison. But you can see the dynamic range comparison for example already in this video.
I have it and just used it to video Hummingbirds and got photos of the new Comet. Works great. ❤
I’ve only noticed the famous “ibis wobbles” on ultra wide lenses like the 10-24 at 10mm. Or the new 8mm etc. usually 12-14mm the wobbles go away.
Great video. I have been getting card errors regarding two different card brands. I am still learning the camera but have been familiar with fuji since 2014, so I know menus and video shooting is a learning curve for me since I am still the first photographer but want to learn video to the fullest.
Great video! Thank you for the R8 comparison at the end!
Mine is supposed to arrive tomorrow. Should be a nice upgrade over the X-S10. Especially for video
Great overview mate! I can't wait to take this camera for a spin!
Awesome video as always! Where in Thailand are you in this video? Looks super awesome! Would love to add it to my destinations list!
It's a bit north from Chiang Dao.
Genius review. Thank you so much for this
Thanks for that great review Pascal. I am waiting for my X-S20 ordered on pre-sale and hope it will replace my X-S10 well.
Hope you enjoy it!
Very comprehensive revoew so far, along woth footahe samples. Dfenetely pick this one
Hey Pascal, really nice review! I got the Fuji X-S20 this week as well🙂 I am new to Fuji X.
Since you mention it a lot in the review:
What kind of video settings would you recommend for RUclips videos (No Flog / without color grading)?
I think about: 4k, H265, 4:2:0, 200 Mbps, Eterna (?)
Looking forward using this camera!
My setup is as follows:
1080p 60fps: 10 bit, 4.2.2, 50 mb/s
4k 30fps: 10 bit, 4.2.2, 100 mb/s
4k 60fps: 10 bit, 4.2.2, 200 mb/s
6.2k 30fps: 10 bit, 4.2.2., 360 mb/s
What’s been said already, h265 100mbits for 4K up to 30p is enough, both for silmsims and flog2 in 10bit 422. That’s what I use as well. 200mbits for 48-60p.
Jau, bin Deutscher 😉
Thank you guys! I will start with 100mb and check out the other film simulations (with some color adjustments) 😎
Hi, great review. I am wondering how would you rate X-S20 IBIS compared to R8 with stabilised lens like RF 35 f1.8 ? Does R8 then provide smoother, less jerky footage when pointing and panning ? I really have a hard time deciding between X-S20, R8 and new A6700 but both Fuji and Canon have those nice colors to begin with.
x-S20 is smoother straight out of camera.
Great video. Thanks for debunking that crop on 30, I actually did not get the camera because of that. What a mistake somebody did.
The mistake is on Fujis side as they mention it on their website. Not blaming the creator for it ;-)
@@pascalbasel yeah, I watched one creator who actually returned the camera because of this. Makes me wonder how that could happen. Had me convinced until I saw this🙂
great video, what do you think about image quality x-s20 and xh2s, and sony fx30?
Nope…don’t think IBIS good enough to walk with, but I would say that about most cameras other than action cameras or M43. It is good enough for a few seconds if needed, but I simply wouldn’t walk and talk as a rule. Great video and nice camera, though as a travel camera it would be nice to have it weather resistant. AF without eye tracking looked good! Great advice about overheating on cameras in general!
Pascal how does this compare to the Canon R8? which would you pick
X-S20
@@pascalbaselHello Pascal, Can you explain why please ? My needs are content création video at home and USB live streaming 2h+. Podcasts recording with 2 or 4 people too. Which Lens do you advice for this need ?
Fujifilm xs-20 o Sony a6700? 👏🏻
So sony a6700 vs xs20. What do you think
I'm new to Fuji, how did you do resolve the stabilization? Did you attach a new lens?
F2.8
Great video! :) Been using the XS20 for a few days now and found out there's no audio for footages I shot on 4K60p. Does anyone know how to fix this (if even possible)? Thanks!
Ours has audio in 4K60P. Maybe look into your levels for different custom modes and make sure that even if you shoot in custom modes that the mic jack setting is set to mic even on the movie mode. I had that issue few times when this was set to line under movie mode but for mic in custom mode that it didn't work.
@@pascalbasel thank you so much for your help! will try this out
I love your color grading! Do you have a tutorial on how you do it specifically? Also looking forward to a Tamron 10-20mm f2.8 vs Viltrox 13mm f1.4 review/comparison.
I have a few color grading tutorials on my channel, but to get the same look, I will release a new lut pack very soon.
Looking forward to the release. Cheers!
Great review! Waiting to pick up my camera. I cancelled my initial order, but then ordered the body with a 35 mm lens. I want a solid zoom lens, but not until I recoup my savings ahaha.
Sir how to setting that screen on your camera? In 14:33 mins on this video
So should I get the xt4 or the X-s20 ? Wich one is better
I‘d go with the X-S20. But it depends on what you use it for and if you want the dials or not.
One of the best reviews for that camera!
PS: What is a name of the location with coffee?! Looks great and chill!
maps.app.goo.gl/JwLqJ68pkhPGYezm7?g_st=ic it’s around there. Don’t know the name.
@@pascalbasel kob khun kub!
Brother I want to buy a camera do you recommend Canon or Sony and is the Sigma lens you see suitable for beginners
They are both good. Just take what you like more.
@@pascalbasel Any advice I accept from you I am one of your followers
Beautiful review. Thank you.
Hi, thanks for the video!
I was wondering if you've also managed to get your hands on a Sony a6700. Im hesitant between getting the fuji or the sony. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated :)
Not yet, both cameras seem to be great, but Fuji has a joystick, Fuji colors and is cheaper 😉
You really love dark and contrasty video look mate. I need to watch your video at night to see anything 😂
Dark, moody tones are the best 😍
It's too bad that Fuji can't seem to get their AF working 100% all the time.
No camera brand has 😂
@@Eyeofkamau sony AF is glue
@@yongkwon4777 most definitely not, but it’s the best and hunts the least of the brands. I’ve heard complaints about Sony as well. There is no perfect AF.
It’s been just fine for a long time.
@@Eyeofkamau I mean, of course its mot perfect. But as a owner of sony and also use fuji, its nothing to complain about. With minimal understanding u can make it almost never lose focus
Hi Pascal, Please, does the Fujifilm x-s20 use high speed flash sync (hss) for outdoor flash use with wide open lenses? Like a flash at 1/4000s!!
I don’t know, sorry. I’m not a photographer and never used flash lights.
It’s only the focus tough… the rest is great. Sooner or later they will get it right I think.
I don't have any complaints about the video AF of X-H2S - on X-T4 is not that great but usable
Great review as usual!! 😊
I felt a little bit mentioned when you talked about the film sims 😬 love Eterna for video!
Yeah, I meant you anf one other channel 😉
XT4 has the nice dials, hard to resist. I got XT5 just for the fun^^
@@pascalbasel Yeah fun is the right word! I just enjoy shooting Fuji and the XT line is hands down the most beautiful digital camera 😍 although dials are completely useless for video haha but look nice 😊
@@Better.Beyond Oh yeah, especially in silver 😍 I use it mostly for photos and timelapses. For that, it's perfect.
Is the sigma lenses better and sharper than the fuji kit lense 18-55 ?? And what do you recommend for a small sharp lense for video ?
I didn’t test them. Can’t say anything about it. But both give great shots.
Hi, can you tell me when you used the 18-55 in this video? You can specify a clip! Many thanks best shot! 😊
Two questions... 1. How is the autofocus with the sigma 18-50 2.8? Question 2. Overheating problems?
Awesome review. So sad you didnt talk about the possibility to shoot RAW with an external monitor though..
That place looked amazing. Where was it?
Chiang Dao in Thailand
Thank you very much Pascal, in my country there is the r8 and the sx20 at the same price.... I don't know what to do
Hard decision, both are great. Best to get both in your hands to see which one you like more.
I wouldn’t recommend it. Maybe try 10bit 420 instead of 422.
I really wanted this camera. So badly! I love my X100V so much, but the lack of Sony-level auto focus is unfortunately a non-starter. Totaly bummer, because otherwise it looks like this $1.5k camera could easily replace any $3-4k setup today, particularly for travel.
As mentioned, turn eye tracking off and only use face tracking and it works perfectly.

Yes
@@pascalbasel why? I'm torned between those 2

Yes it does have the ability to attach the fan.
There's also 3rd party camera cooler like from ulanzi to manage overheat. And afaik it's only happening in 4k

Thanks!
I might so one but could take a while as lots of stuff is coming up.

I don’t get cameras for free, so I only review the ones I‘m interested in or that I can borrow somehow.
What is the max iso will you advise to use for filming low lights while on 60fps with this camera?
I personally don’t go over 3200 because that’s the second base iso for flog2. From there, every step up in iso is the same as raising the exposure in post. However, you can go higher to see how it will look like on the screen. I would do max 6400 in that case.
@@pascalbasel thank you for the response brother
hi can i do long exposure on xs20?
I know you've used this camera in southeast asia, and I'm looking to buy this camera for my vlogging/photography trips to SEA also, as an upgrade from my canon 77D.
I have heard that the X-S20 has an overheating problem, have you found this to be an issue or is it somewhat overblown?
I never even had an overheating warning but I also don’t use it to record for hours in one take. It’s on and off shooting + A-Roll for max 15mins.

Of course, why would you not be able to use the 27mm? It’s Fuji X-Mount, so it fits on both cameras.
I don’t know, I only shoot manual. Always.
I wonder if the auto focus would have been better with Fuji native lenses. There as only one Native lens on your list which wasnt used for vlogging.
Then Fujifilm should make some proper wide angle lenses.
@@pascalbasel Fujinon XF8mmF3.5 R WR?
@@jfranco3281 F3.5 on APS-C is kinda like having everything in focus…
I think I’d actually like this lens because it looks unique, but it would only be there for vlogging and landscape shots. I’d always have to switch lenses for actual b-roll. 11-20 and 13mm are a lot more versatile in that regards. So the 8mm is not really a viable option.
Great video Pascal! Love your vids and taught me a lot about Fuji and canon!
I know a few sentences in German
Your English is virtually perfect like many modern Germans and scandinavians.
What you mean to say is “you can judge the ibis wobbles yourself.”
I guess a German equivalent of the weird part is if I used the incorrect article “Wo ist das Fenster” whilst you know I’m asking where the window is it just sounds or feels weird.
I really hope you’re not offended by this comment I went through Germany and Austria using the incorrect articles for things and wished a German speaker corrected me rather than being super polite!
Thanks, for helping. Your sentence „Wo ist das Fenster?“ is actually correct 😉
@@pascalbasel hahaha 😝 Th German language is better for discussing engineering and technical topics anyway!
Would you chose the sigma 18-50 over the fuji 18-55 despite not having ois? I got the Fuji one. The standard heat warning came on after a few minutes even just browsing the menu on my x-s20. Did you do the overheating test on high?
Yes, I prefer a constant aperture. Setting was on high of course.
@@pascalbasel I thought already of changing to the Sigma lens
If the camera has ibis then the 18-50 sigma lens is gonna be better, but the 18-55 stabilization is great. For XT-3 or XT-30 and etc definitely 18_55 is better

The reason I don’t like the E10 is the rolling shutter. The moment you move it a little too fast, the whole image wobbles and that can’t be fixed. On a tripod it’s great but for nothing else.

Whic mic did you use on video? Sen 400?
Exactly

Does anyone here have experience with underwater photography or photography with lots of blue/white led lights? What camera is best for most things.
For that, you want a good low light camera (at least for scuba diving) as the light gets low and there should be a diving case available. I‘d look into Sony a7Siii or a7iv if more megapixels are important for photo for that. Many people also use the R5 for that.
Is it really better than an Iphone 16 Pro to film ?
Of course
If they could sort the AF out they'd clean up with this camera. The Sony AF is virtually infallible and still the AF gold standard....
This or lumix s5ii for youtube video????
Up to you, both are great cameras and will do the job.
