I have a Canon M6 mark II. It is light but has everything I need. From what I see in your video, if you are buying into the X-mount lens system, the X-s20 looks like a good camera.
I have an X-H2 with that gem of a zoom, the red badge 16-55mm fixed f2.8. I ended up buying an X-S20 with a Xf33mm f1.4 (I already had the Xf18-55mm kit lens) just for keeping it with me at all times. It is small, it is light, it works with my X-mount lenses and the X-H2 battery. What you lack from the X-H2 is CFE storage, 3 custom settings fewer on the PASM, the custom buttons on the front and the directional buttons (X-S20 has just the joystick). What you have over the X-H2 is the 2 modes (Vlog and Auto) on the PASM, a third dial (the top left) and a flash. The Vlog mode is a very good, me thinks it will appear on other brands soon. Definitely a very good investment.
Also the X-S10. I think it has the best price for the things you get: XT3 with ibis. I used it at a couple of shoots and the only thing that i miss from the other fuji's that i own is the shutter button, because i got used to the screw-in shutter button which has a lot more feel to it. But other than that, i love it.And unlike an X-T3 that has been used for wedding and alot of events, you have the chance of getting an X-S10 that is in better condition.
Hi @evo271 . Can you elaborate further with your comment here. It's because I'm currently contemplating of selling/trading my XT3 for an XS10 because ever since my X100v arrived with its compact form factor and having that Classic Neg film sim which bakes fuji recipes that emulate classic film developed prints, my XT3 along with my other XF lenses, has gotten lesser use and perhaps it may motivate me if I replace it with the XS10 (more compact + Classic Neg sim feature). What's hesitating me is that even though I've read very minimal issues concerning the XS10 through Forums and reviews, it's not weather sealed and its less robust body (compared with the XT3) may result to durability issues (though it appears it's quite durable based on these references: ( ruclips.net/video/SsvtyBT33nA/видео.htmlsi=mpGGWDwX0Hct_C8e OR ruclips.net/video/k4CXskOtRpA/видео.htmlsi=uxd2pdec_2pRlEKs ). My Xt3 didn't have major issues at all (maybe because I use it gently and only on my day-offs, holidays, special occasions, and travels). But even though it's WR, still you just can't trust Fuji's WR claims over their higher-tier bodies ( ruclips.net/video/9W19rrVi6nM/видео.htmlsi=YJOtl_tTtU5tRSrr ). Furthermore, should I sell the X-T3, I can still use the same battery that I have for the X100v. I shoot street, food, travel and family documentaries. I don't shoot video. There are a lot of brand new X-S10 on sale now with the average price of US$885 with a free battery and a 16 GB SD Card. Used market prices averages around US$815 to US$850. Having said these, would you still recommend to me the X-S10? Thank You.
This is my first Fuji camera and I love it. You reminded me of the reasons why I picked up this model. This camera gets so easily overlooked, because the t30ii still gets so much attention. I just love the flexibility of the camera. I took so many great pictures and even filmed a trailer for a local improv team with it. The only problem I sometimes have with the camera is overheating. But its not as dramatic as it sounds like
I'm loving the extra megapixels of the XH 2. When you need detail, it's there. Works super great with my FUJI XF 16 to 80mm OIS lens. Amazing camera and upgrade to the earlier Fuji cameras. Just the shutter sound tells you it's the next level.
Five years ago I bought the X-E3 and bought the X-S20 at the end of June. I love the X-S20, it feels so good in the hand and it works well with the XF 70-300mm lens.
Switched from Sony to Fuji. Tried 3 different cameras and ended up with the xs20. Mainly used for family and travel. Like the small size of the camera and lenses. Enjoying trying out the photo recipes.
This video is so timely. I have the X-T4 but want a lighter backup and I'm renting the X-S20 next week. So excited to check it out. I want a good backup for a safari trip next year. Weight is a big issue so I need to make sure I'm not packing too heavy. I think a X-T4, X-S20, 150-600, 18-130, and a 12mm Samyang for Milky Way will be perfect. I hope I like this body. I tried the X-T20 and it felt so small in my hands. And assuming the X-T6 has some good improvements I'll plan to sell the X-T4 down the road and get the 6. We shall see though.
I've been doing the same thing. I have recomended both the X-S20 and the X-T30 to multiple people without ever even seeing one in person. But having owned the X-S10, and owning the X-T3 and X-H2s I just know that the X-S20 is a great camera for anyone wanting to shoot hybrid, especially video and that the X-T30 is the best affordable photography option if you want a Fuji with how low the used prices are at the moment. Anyways, great video. Hope I get to play with an X-S20 soon as well.
Spot on! Excellent review and I completely agree with tour assessment. I use my X-E3 for travel and my X-H1 for video and stills at home. I wanted the best of both worlds and found it in the S20. The lack of weather sealing is a minor encumbrance. I live in the southern US and this summer has been brutal. Overheating was an issue so I bought the accessory fan which solved the problem.
I’ve had mine about a month, and loving it! Mostly… the LCD at max brightness is dimmer than my near 10 yr old Olympus EM5 Mk II, and as such it’s barely usable in non-overcast light. The EVF is good-ish, but they really could have brought it closer to the diopter/got better mag, because as is you really gotta shove your eye up in there to get a full look at the image. I bought an evf cover that slots into the hot shoe to also make it easier to see without light blinding you from the outside. Other than that, it’s pretty great!
What has been your experience with Fugi auto focus? Thats really the only thing im hearing complaints about with Fugi. The XS20 interests me because i dont really need 40mp. Any thougjts what the next camera in this series will be like?
Great camera; has quickly become my favorite due to it's compact size and great feature set. Lovely to see that you're using the VIltrox 27 as well! It's claimed it's place on my camera as it's a great focal length and the lens is amazingly sharp and wel built.
OMG I'm so glad I found your channel. I've been thinking of upgrading from XT 20 and this video is so helpful. Plus I love the Japan footage and the train stamps! ❤
Great video, thanks a lot! This will be my first Fujifilm. I chose it for the size and the ibis (and the reviews) and intend to use it as my edc camera. I expected a Pen E-PL8 would do the job but found it too small. Now what lens, primes or one standard zoom … 🤔
Hi Joe. I love your channel, subscribe of course and thumbs up each time. But I normally watch on a TV so can't read or make comments. So I've used a PC for this today. I agree absolutely with you. I was torn between buying then newly introduced X-S10 or the X-T4 which I knew would soon be replaced. I bought the X-S10 and love it so much I couldn't bear to part with it now I've also got the X-T5. I had wanted full weather sealing and a built-in flash but could only have one or the other. Now Fuji's tiny EFX-8 add-on flash is available again the X-T5 fully fits the bill for me. But I still like the X-S10 for indoors or when weather or dust aren't likely to be problems. So I'd also recommend the X-S20. Simon
I have this camera and love the bigger battery and the grip. My all around lens is the 16-55 2.8. but I have others and the Viltrox 27mm 1.2. Lovely lens.
can the X-S20 be set up for the 2 dials to control shutter speed and aperture, and have auto ISO ? I'm really leaning towards this camera for my daughter, I like the available lenses from Fuji and also Sigma, I really like the idea of the Fuji film simulations and this system might help a new kid be able to do well and learn without a lot of in depth editing early on. I also just discovered the Xraw Studio so that would be a free way for her to explore editing RAW files and such, while still keeping things fairly easy and straighforward, but would allow converting to Jpeg, resizing, making B&W images, recovering shadows, etc... I think the kit lens, and then maybe the Sigma 10-18/2.8 and 56mm prime would be an awesome start. Liked and subbed, and will check out your channel more over the weekend. cheers
I debated between this and the camera I purchased, the XT30ii, which I use sometimes for EDC, but mostly serves as a back-up for landscape/travel photography, a system that also includes an X-100f. Had the X-S20 come with weather resistance, the choice might have gone the other way. What tipped the balance was having a back-up camera that mostly echoed (with limitation) my X-T5. I don't think entry level cameras exists anymore. These are enthusiast prosumer products. Entry level cameras are our smartphones.
