I have had the XS10 for about 10 months now and it’s done very well for me for shooting wedding videos snd video content for work. While I have a nice compact setup with it and the dji RSC2 gimbal … but always looking to have a lighter and smaller setup. Been thinking of picking up one of these and pairing it with a Zhyuin Crane M2 gimbal for a second video tool and even smaller and lighter. This video sealed the deal!
You will find home with it, it shares most of the features with the x-s10
Awesome video!
Great video! I hope you get a ton of subs - you’ve got strong content. Thanks Luca.
Thank you!
Great video, I haven’t really seen a solid review of the xe4 video quality. I think I will get it primarily for video because I want something very lightweight and discreet and a different look from everyone who blogs on a canon g7x or M50. Great review, excited to check it out!!
Thank you!
Curious about Lindsey's experience vlogging. Lack of ibis might limit useful lens choices
I appreciate an honest and thorough review of the Fuji XE4. I own both the XE3 and the XE4, and the XE series has not let me down. I love the balance of capability and size. Another option regarding the microphone placement situation that you showed is the SmallRig XE4 cage. With this device, you can side mount the microphone and have other connection points for lights or an external recorder. In my experience, the cage is a much more solid and stable way to rig the XE4.
I bought the cage a month ago, and I agree, great solution.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts
Great video. I really like the bikers shot. Your vlog looks great. I can't get the same hand held stabilization as you.
Thanks, I think you can do better than me... I am one of the worst hand helder around😅
Which lens did you use for the bikers?
@@mipmipmipmipmip mostly 70-300 and 9mm Laowa
Thank you for a good video
Thank you!
Amazing footage. Just to think so many people give this camera crap but I think she's a beauty!
It's a great little camera. I would've changed few things, but of course each one of us has different preferences
This was a really great review, with some amazing work on your walkaround footage. I just picked up the X-E4 as a backup to my X-T4, and I was curious about the DJI Pocket 2 also! You really should have added that you did a comparison, somewhere in the intro and description, it would definitely lead to more views, as I am sure I am not the only one (other than yourself, of course!) who may have considered both while researching potential vlogging options! Again, great work, and I'll be following your videos from now on. :)
Thank you! I didn't plan to compare them as they're really different, but I get your point. It's an idea for a future video
Can't agree with you more bro!! This camera is a magic for vlogging. My video lens for this camera is Fuji XF16mm F/2.8. A light multi-purpose lens for landscape/street and self-portrait with lightening fast AF/face detection speed. It is weather sealed meaning I don't have to worry about sudden change of weather(rain drops into sensor). I got a 7Artisans F1.2 II for night/low light/macro. The weight of my kit bag(+micro speaker/spare battery/phone) is merely a little over 1kg. Light-hearted and feel like travel/vlog a lot!!
Do you vlog handheld or with a gimbal?
@@LucaPetraliaPhotography With a small gimbal Ulanzi MT16. I'm OK with slight bumps and shakes every so often in vlogging video. Stable image gives a fake feeling.
Il check that out. I agree that too stabilized may look fake
@@LucaPetraliaPhotography It will be helpful to have a handy zoom lens for bit stabilized video with zooming ability. Most likely I'll choose XC15-45 over XF18-55 just to match the small form size of X-E4(also for the price sake).
The 15-45 is not bad at all for that
Very entertaining and informative video. Would you think Fuji 100V would be the same? What Fuji Colour did you use if I might ask in your cinemativ video examples which looked really great. Thanks a lot in advance!
I used eterna, and I didn't grade it at all in post. I have to say that the light was great, so it is mainly thanks to that.
The x100v will provide similar results, although I haven't tried it, so I can't speak for AF, lens quality and so on.
@@LucaPetraliaPhotography Thank you very much dear Luca. Keep on your good work! Greetings from Munich, Volker
@@WilderFreigeist thanks!
Thank you for the informations! How about that "not weather sealed" talk? Because it looked pretty sturdy at the mountain bikes shot
I have always been shooting in tough conditions even with non weather sealed cameras and lenses. Never had issues, to be honest. Weather sealing is, in my opinion, an overrated feature.
I may make a video about it...
@@LucaPetraliaPhotography it would be awesome!
Amazing video! I have two questions however: Did the camera get hot when filming? Also, is there a digital stabilization option in the xe4? Thanks!
Thank you!
The camera didn't get hot, but it was freezing cold, so not a real test for that.
I would've loved to see a digital stabilization in the camera, but unfortunately there's nothing like that for the X-e4
Grazie per questo video. I wanted to ask, your series Sicilians on the Road, what camera/lens(es) do you shoot with? It looks fantastic!
I have been using pretty much everything.
Osmo Action, Osmo Pocket, Fuji X-T3, Fuji X-E4, X-t4, Osmo Pocket 2.
As far as lenses, for the fuji i have used the 16-80.
It depends on a lot of factors.
Lately, but you haven't seen it yet, i have been using the X-t4 and the 10-24. I still have to look at my footage yet
Hi there, very informative video. I'm looking for the capability of X-E4 in capturing video. If we're handheld shooting using the XF 27mm lens (stand still, not moving around), is there any obvious jitter in video? And second, if we're using gimbal with XF 27mm lens, how it looks compared to X-S10 with IBIS active? Thanks in advance
The Gimbal always look better, that's for sure. However the 27mm with its noisy autofocus is not the best lens for video
Seriously exactly the type of video I was looking for. Do you have any problems with overheating? Had an x100v that would overheat after about 5 mins. Ended up selling it but really miss the Fuji colors.
I didn't have overheating issues, although I don't typically shoot super long sessions. However in a studio environment, recording myself in 4k 24fps, I typically shoot 20-25mins sessions without issues
@@LucaPetraliaPhotography thank you so much Luca! Your down everyday person take on this camera was such a fresh breath of air. Thank you and again keep up the great work! Wish you more success on RUclips!
@@ren1818ren than you😉
Great video and really nice shots! How's the overheating?
I haven't had overheating issues, but I typically don't shoot super long sessions
@@LucaPetraliaPhotography Thanks for your answer.... Do you usually shoot 4k or 1080p?
Usually 1080p, but I also shot an entire hiking in 4k. Have a look at it in my previous videos.
No overheating there, but it was cold
@@LucaPetraliaPhotography That hicking vlog looks absolutely gorgeus! And yeah with all that snow I guess it shouldn't overheat lol
I have a last quick question... see that Ulanzi extension bar for the microphone you reccomended in the video, does it allow you to open the battery lid when it's mounted?
Thank you so much for all these precious info btw, I did not know the X-E4 yet... indeed an underrated camera for video! Subbed!
Thank you! I didn't try to open the battery door with the extension. I'll try tomorrow and I'll let you know
Nice video, Does xe4 have a digital gimbal like in xt200?
I don't think so. I didn't look in the menu for it specifically, but it doesn't seem to have that option
Thank you for your comment
@@LucaPetraliaPhotography ok thanks
I think you should have compared it with the Sony A6400 instead of DJI. There are many shortcomings on the Fuji such as the lack of super widescreen markers (is that why yours videos are in normal 16 x 9 ratio?), Mac remote software n obviously a good stabilised 35mm lens. But one thing that interests me is the film simulation modes. Do you think using those presets can get you cinematic images without the need for post colour grading? Or are they two different things here?
I don't have easy access to Sony gear, and I'm definitely not going to buy Sony stuff for the sake ad conspiring those. But I agree that would have been a good comparison.
As for the ratio, my stuff on RUclips is normal 16:9 ratio because it's simply the most common, especially considering many people watch RUclips from a phone in vertical mode.
As for the film simulation you can definitely set those up in a way that saves you a lot of post processing.
You can have a look at this video I shared more than a year ago.
ruclips.net/video/Vw8KkLUQvdI/видео.html
Only editing, no post production, all shot in Eterna film simulation.
To me, you can definitely take advantage of the film simulation and save a lot of post processing time. Between the film simulation and the highlights and shadows controls, as well as sharpening and noise reduction, you can pretty much get what you want out of the camera.
I don't color correct my RUclips videos in RUclips either.
One last bit of information... I would not pick the xe4 as my primary video camera, but I would definitely use it as a backup, secondary camera for sure
@@LucaPetraliaPhotography thanks for sharing n the sample movie - just one more thing: I know you don’t have the Sony but from your experience will the presets on Sony (or any other brands) - such as Vivid, Soft Skin - produce similar results as Fuji’s film modes?
@@ManlyHK1 I'd say no, but this is based on my experience with Canon or Nikon a decade ago.
However, listening to many videos on RUclips, it seems like Fuji is still miles ahead on this
