Some stuff Arkada may have missed: - r/anime is part of the Reddit blackout - Dr Stone announced a new cour - Oshi No Ko has had its sales double - Shield Hero S3 doing a special episode premiere at Anime Expo - Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King will be release on Netflix internationally. The release date is 16th June 2023 - Bang Zoom will be holding Open Auditions at Anime Expo as well
He also missed how AniTrendz are a bunch of homophobes and bigots... and the fact they removed Suletta and Miorinne the first week of the shipping poll due to "losing their spark" (only adding them back due to community outrage), yet added Guel and Suletta the week he confessed and she turned him down.
@@eyevou Fuck that. Get mad at mods that held the subs hostage while acting as if the whole community was on board on this. 3rd party apps already faced defeat early this week by announcing they are dropping on june 30th. So these janitors are keeping open a useless uphill battle that was never going to succeed.
@@eyevou Sorry but I am not mad at reddit. They already did concessions, whitelisted bots and apps for visual impaired people. I also don't think that it's reasonable to hold entire communities hostage because you don't like official reddit app. Reddit is not even profitable, they have rights to monetize their website
To be honest, society needs a hard reset from social medias. They have become too dependent on them and the social media atmosphere has effected the way we talk to each other, mostly in a negative way. And how they shortened our attention spans, its down right criminal.
Honestly, wanted to say THANK YOU for the best, most helpful, clear, dummy (me) friendly and concise explanation of what an API is. I've been trying to find an easy TLDR since the beginning of the whole Reddit debaccle and this is by far the best I've seen/heard. MASSIVE THANKS
Hey not really news but something to keep your eyes peeled for would be the new Gen Urobuchi, Seiji Mizushima movie, Eisenflügel which is being scored by yuki kajiura, and has character designs by type moon. Just thought you’d be interested in that given you’re a pretty big fan of those creators, and thought I’d let you know because of how under the radar it has been (with only one short teaser and no release announcements.)
I'm halfway through and I just wanted to comment that I think the explanation is super interesting? As a dev I frequently use API's but I never considered that this applied to news reporting too! super cool!
Despite your frustrations, it was nice watching some behind the scene stuff. I wasn't aware you ever read from a teleprompter till now, but I guess it explains how you were able to be so well spoken about the news and other subjects in the video. Never realized Reddit was a big part of how you researched, I just assumed you used google or some other 3rd party app that gave you notifications of when certain companies were posting news about their stuff. I've never really used the site, so the explanation of Reddit having an api was surprising to me. This season does have a LOT of romance anime, but thankfully a lot of them are good. There are more that I like than others. I find myself looking forward to I'm in Love with Yamada-Kun Lv 999, but not so much Galaxy Next Door. Also really loving Sacrificial Princess and King of Beasts, which I noticed you have as of yet talked about. It's a decent show that is very much along the lines of a traditional fairy tale in it's story structure. Simple but enjoyable.
And I thought I had found a hidden gem with Heavenly Delusion, because no one was talking about it, but apparently it's the most popular anime currently.
I understand your frustrations about reddit as well. The fact that it is crashing and burning really sucks for people like me that would look up very specific tech questions that only Reddit can answer. And I also use google to type Reddit at the start. 😅 I haven't watched anime in a while. Nothing really interests me. But maybe I should watch again.
I can understand the Reddit issue being a problem but speaking for myself, I use a number of other sources for my anime and manga news, so reddits’ issue doesn’t’ worry me so much. That said I do hope it gets worked out for those who depend on it.
Honestly its been the opposite for hells paradise. It was a slug fest that I struggled to watch first few episodes but as it's been going on it's regained my attention and I'm actually looking forward to watch it
If you are curious, I kind of enjoy Cheat Skill. I mean, it is not particularly good, definitely not better than Otaku Elf (which is the anime I enjoy watching the most this season). Cheat Skill is a typical power fantasy, but it is the absurdness of the modern Japan events that just tickly my funny bone, and which does set it apart from more generic boring isekai (looks at Second Time). I mean, dealing with a biker gang that invaded the high school, wrestling a bear during a school trip, slamming a ping pong ball through the table, and so on.
Arkada my man you have missed out on some chef's kiss isekai trash nonsense in Cheat skill its the best comedy this season (even if its not trying to be or maybe it is!) How can you not laugh at the scenario of your half siblings getting their biker gang to come rough you up at your new school and protag wrestles with the bike and wins and there is better scenes then that! If you need a good laugh I would highly recommend continuing to watch
Most of my favourite anime this season aren't very high up the list either. Only Gundam has a decent ranking, while Birdie Wing (#19), Yuri Is My Job (#26), and ofc Otaku Elf (#27) are all way down. I'm also enjoying Dr Stone (#13) though, which is a bit closer to where I'd expect it to be.
I'm curious, why has Hell's Paradise not been as good as you thought it would be? I'm enjoying it a fair bit, myself. It isn't one of my favorites this season but I do like it.
My partner and I are watching Cheat Skill. I almost never like male power fantasy shows, often why I don’t like isekai in general unless it’s a parody. Meanwhile, my partner lives for stupidly OP characters. Us watching it together basically means us yelling at the screen or laughing because of the many outrageous hijinks the MC gets into. If Cheat Skill does anything, it commits. At least that’s been our experience for the first few episodes.
Cheat Skill is interesting because I wonder how MC is supposed to juggle all the things going on in his life. The 9 point drop is because they have annoying character (Princess) hog too much of the recent episodes.
Eh, I still like Hell's Paradise, it is pretty great. Not my fave show of the season tho. That title goes to either Dead Mount Death Play, Skip & Loafer, or Heavenly Delusions (please note I said fave, not best. I know Dead Mount Death Play especially has had somewhat mixed reception)
My friends keep saying that cheat skill is good, I watched the first episode at the start of the season and immediately figured out it's shit so I stopped watching, but after my friends kept saying it was good I finally watched it and... Don't worry, it's still shit.
14:43 *That is what I've been asking people online for weeks!* Most of you aren't true weebs, for choosing Heavenly Paranoia and Hell's Playground over Otaku Elf!
Tonikawa is great. Just it is the 2nd season and bit bland compared to first. Where as Insomniacs After School is fresh new feel and better animation in comparison to Tonikawa.
Reddit is good for my very specific questions that someone else asked 11 years ago. Thats about it. Reddit has a cringe Rick and Morty loving user base.
Reddit needs to show ads to survive. These third party apps are costing reddit money with no upside for them. They’re a publicly traded company so they have to do what makes them the most money. Its literally illegal to do otherwise.
Yeah, “cheat skill” did not get better. If you thought the first couple episodes were life on a silver platter, then the part after that takes it to a cringe worth level.
Wait didn't Elon Musk come under fire for trying to charge for twitter's api, & then got rightly laughed at for trying this? Or was it something other than twitter's api? I don't remember all the specifics but I swear that's the gist. So how is reddit doing this as if its normal? Which ofcourse alot of people are criticising them for cuz rightly, its scummy! Even Musk backtracked on that specific thing atleast, and we know how vast his lack of integrity is
It’s amazing how many people really love boring power fantasy harem anime. A little bit of quality trash now and then can be fun. But, you can watch a trailer and just know how stupid it’s going to me. It’s one thing to escape reality and pretend that something like that would ever happen. But it will never happen. I think it shows something about a lot of anime fans; 1. They are very lonely dudes who want to be better then they are and want pretty ladies in their life. 2. They’re just horny and that stuff gets them excited. Or 3 a combination of both. It’s okay to like those shows but, go out and meet real people. And just know that having an actual harem would probably be a nightmare.
Iseleve is an interesting one. I can't stand the writing. it's terrible. The way the characters react to the mc doing rediculous things is horrible. But I keep watching for some reason. They had the opportunity to do something really cool and they just didn't. I haven't seen many if any other Isekai, have the mc take their abilities and just, walk between worlds with it. Only one in recent memory Saving 80,000 Gold in Another World for My Retirement, and it was also fairly bad, though better than this train wreck. Really cool idea executed terribly.
Well drop the news and go back to Reviews. I don't think the stress you're experiencing is worth it. I dropped Tomikawa as it outstayed it's welcome, it's totally unrealistic in it's depiction of the marriage relationship, what they depict is damaged.
I'm sad that it makes your work more difficult but I've stopped using Reddit altogether for a week now and to be honest: good riddance. I realize now I was way to dependent on that platform and wasted way to much of my time on there. Using that time for other things, even just going to "traditional" websites for certain news and topics every other day instead of going on Reddit every other hour has been a breath of fresh air.
going with your disappointment with Cheat Skill... how is it above Kamikatsu??? i mean Kamikatsu is leagues better in every way and that's not exactly an unpopular opinion either
I never thought I'd ever hear the words "Reddit" and "good information" in the same sentence... If I ever find a reddit link among my google results for information on the internet, I routinely ignore it, because - in my experience - 95% what you get there is not information but opinions.
You haven’t tried to find information on older manga, because information just sometimes doesn’t exist in English and Reddit is as close as you’re gonna get.

Heavenly Delusions is also on Hulu, so that could be affecting viewership numbers. That’s the platform I have been watching and enjoying it on.
Yeah, you were right about Cheat Skill. They later gave the MC six more silver platters plus silver food and water dishes for his super pets.
Having watched it, ur not exaggerating. It ruins any of the tension of the show, and not even in a fun way.
