@@willgreenfieldwithout a doubt. With all the people who don’t want their old 26” mountain bikes nowadays I’m picking up quite a few 26” mountain bikes, restoring them and shredding them like crazy. Having a blast doing it too. 👍
I recently picked up a 2006 full suspension Cannondale Rush for $100. I figured I’d update this bike some since my main rides are hardtails. I’ve already gotten some nasty comments from some people but I think it’s great fun and I do really enjoy riding a 26” again. You never know, I might make it my main mountain bike daily ride.
Nice to see a Sam video again, thanks Will. He's my second favourite rider ever in the world ever and I don't get to see enough of his happy riding other than the odd "phizzooop" past in the Surrey Hills 😂🤟
I first thought this was the control bike, which will compare to the 2006 one. Goes to show, it's almost always about the rider, not the hardware. Cool stuff man!
@@samw_mtb I've been riding a coil one since 2013 and it's a set and forget tank...and weighs like a tank :) Still, needs to be serviced as every fork. Cheers!
awesome, I always wanted one of these! Wish someone still made this kind of bike but they don't seem to exist any more without going used and old. Perfect for the kind of riding at Chicksands, Woburn etc.
I still rip my 2009 kona stuff special edition. It's been heavily modified like your BR. I picked up a modern 29er last weekend..I just sold it this evening for what I purchase it for because I just cant get off the 26". I'll be starting my parts hoarding pretty soon lol. Sick ride dude. I love seeing people keep older mid 2000's bikes on the trails and absolutely thrash on them.
I have a 26' fuji nevada 1.9 that i want to modernise a bit myself ,changes include replacing the 11 to 40 cassette 8 speed to 11 to 46 9 speed, its a 3x contemplating keeping it or changing to 2x,changing the coil sprung fork to air suspension with remote lockout, and running an external dropper post!
I'd go x10. I don't know about x9, but if you choose Shimano, there are front derailleur levers, you can switch from 2x to 3x by a small switch on their underside. That way you can change the large chainring for e.g. a 32t bashring any time you need the extra ground clearance.
Cmon now William, stop making such good edits. I bought a camera because of you and am quickly realising I will never create such cinematic masterpieces (my memes aren’t as good)
Thanks George, there was such a huge growth in MTB channels since covid, which has made RUclips a lot more competitive. But can't complain, i'm trying to focus now more on creating content that i enjoy and am proud of, instead of always chasing view count... seems to be doing good things for my mental health too haha. Thanks for watching!
I dudes i have one of these but is conic and i need to sell it to get a new one but idont know how much i can ask for it. Some body can help me i dont want to overpiced but also dont want to lose money, how much i can ask for only the. Frame and the rock shock rh2 (i dont remeber the name but is a coil one with nitrohen) sorry for my english
Long live 26
still the best wheelsize
26er makes sense for acceleration and this type of riding.
26 for life

Its just like a og version of the canyon stitched 720! Looks like such a fun chuckable bike.

100 is a bargain!! don't listen to the haters, 26 aint dead!
@@willgreenfieldyour right. I’m gonna ride it and enjoy it. I’m not worry about what people say. It’s a hell of a ride for $100
@@willgreenfieldthank you I really appreciate it. By the way I personally think your riding style is insane. I love it!

so glad he's back riding again after his injury! And haha that's cool that you've spotted him out in the hills!
Well thank you very much. Im honoured. Now that I'm back I will do as much riding as possible.
awesome video, love that bike, looks sick also this is filmed really nicely.

RS Totem is 40mm stanchion fork :)
ah yeah! They were huge haha, the ultimate freeride fork!
Ah yes you're right. I knew it was huge but my fish brain forgot haha

I had a blindside and a bottlerocket at the same time. Best duo ever.
Nice to see, you got your star back!
we back in business
Good video, nice to see sam is back!
thank you! Yeah it's sick to see him back riding after his injury
Thanks good sir
Sweet ride! Love the mods he's done to it. Recently got a NS Soda Slope, looks pretty similar to the Bottlerocket.
He's spent some money on it thats for sure! And ah yeah those are classics as well, used to want one so bad back when they first came out
The classics are making a come back! Your turn next haha@@willgreenfield
I also wanted one of those really bad. Cool bike
happy to be back thanks for the fun times

Back to the original old school content! Love the vids covering stuff like this brings back the mems of when I first subscribed
Thanks broski, trying to make more videos like this as i'm really enjoying being behind the camera at the moment!
Loved this video! What a bike, Sam is Hilarious 😅
thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you :)
The whip to oppo whip across the whale tail 🤌🤯
That was also my reaction the first time i saw him do that haha! Cheers for watching bro!
Thank ye sir

Nov. 2024, on the way rebuilding my 2009 TRBR
I am also starting a project rebuilding my 2007 BR that's been picking dust in the garage
I still have my bottlerocket ❤
Keeping the old school alive. Nice
old school > new school
That's a fun looking bike!
for sure! Wouldn't be very fun on a rough downhill track, but at a smooth flowy spot like chicksands it's dreamy!
After the mid 2000s nearly any company had reasonable geo and quite good stiffness on their frames.
Some oldies still banging even a few 90s
Bring back your old Cube Fritz. That bike was legendary.
Haha i had 2 different year fritzz's, do you mean the 2010 one or the 2016 one?
@@willgreenfield not quite sure. That bike was one of a kind that is for sure.

Still have mine ❤
How do you get that nice clicky sound out of it?
That was a dream bike for me. I would have put a Marzocchi Dropoff tho just because I love the open bath system
definitely a sick bike! never used an marzocchi products personally but always hear good things about them...
Fun!
Thanks!
Wait so did he convert it to be through axle or is the skewer just bolt on now? If he did convert it how did he go about doing so?
What’s the chain tensioner brand? I just converted an old full sus into a single speed and the tensioner doesn’t like to much torque.
Pretty sure it's from Reverse components!
That was my first proper bike ! I would be curious to try it again to compare with my huge geometron now 😅
going from this, to a geometron is wild haha! The geometry numbers/size difference must be crazy loool
@@willgreenfield Searched for the geometry : 20cm + wheelbase and HT angle 4.5° slacker !! The bottlerocket must feel like a BMX 😂

oh sick what camera did you buy?? and haha don't worry the memes come to you with time!
When you going to come film me on the 07 Rock Hopper? 😂
come pick me up
What size frame is it?
🙌😎
Im currently rebuilding a 2004 jamis parker 2..
Bikes a beast.
Awesome video and rebuild =)
I don’t get what happened to your view count, your quality is mint and you’re entertaining. some weird RUclips curse going around I think

Runnin an 08 intense slopestyle. I honestly prefer older geo as long as it isnt ancient. Short boi with good handling
