  • Introduction - part 1 of 2 for wiring lighting circuits using the conduit loop in method. In this part of the introduction we look at drawing circuit diagrams that can be used as wiring diagrams to help wire lighting circuits in PVC single insulated cables. The wiring diagrams are for 1 way, 2 way and 2 way and intermediate switching of one lighting point that are wired in a conduit system. This conduit loop in method uses brown, blue and green and yellow often 1.5 mm2 stranded conductors for circuit wiring.
In part 2 of the introduction we apply the one way circuit diagram created in this video and show how it can help with the wiring of a lighting circuit using the conduit loop in method.

But always keep in mind, the regulations on the Philippines could deviate from the ones shown here! And that's even the case within Europe. The regulations in Europe are harmonized to a certain degree, but there are still several deviations. For example here in Germany we are only permitted to use solid conductors for fixed installation and not the flexible stranded or fine stranded. Stranded only 16mm² or larger.

Not a very common wiring method used in domestic dwellings these days unless they are older installations from previous decades. I’ve never been to keen on using these single insulated conductors for domestic wiring but you can get double insulated single conductors which are similar to meter tails in 1 -1.5mm (6181Y I believe). You can also get singles with a bare earth in the cable too (6241Y) for running feeds to the switch without the neutral connection and have the single double insulated cores as neutrals looping from one light to the others etc. Thank you for the videos though! I enjoy watching this channel!

Thanks for this video. I will be starting my 1st year in September and found this to be great help especially the explanation on the intermediate switch I found it very confusing looking at a diagram. Many thanks and look forward to more videos.

Hi, if you had more than one light would you take neutral and power from the first lighting point?

Yes I did understand what you said but the wiring diagram itself isn't inherently wrong because your intermediate is a square unit but a switch is not a square unit. The second reason the diagram is inherently wrong is that your first switch is setup with one in from the bottom and two out from the top but your last switch setup 2 in from the bottom but one out from the top. It is easy enough to understand that all of your switches have been turned 90° to assist in making your line drawing however if there is actually an on-and-off parked on your switches then if you actually set it up that way in your turning all of your switches 90° to the left then one of your switches is going to say no, unless I have that backwards and we needed to turn them to the right in order to get only one switch to say no. And this brings me to the fourth issue, because you are always holding the switches in whatever Direction you see fit we never know what the top of the switche is. And as I recall one of the important rules is that habits are important to keeps us from making mistakes or it keeps us continually making mistakes.
Plainly put I understand that you are the professional electrician but you're teaching have it in and of itself is a mistake because you seem to think it doesn't matter with the top and the bottom of the switches and yes it does because knowing what and the top of the switch must always be eliminates a variable and that eliminate mistakes.
And I have one more problem with your teaching here as well as your wiring habits, we're running two parallel brown wires down one conduit to get to another box when we get to that box we do not know which wire is which this could be resolved with either a brown wire and a brown wire with a white stripe or a light brown wire and a dark brown wire designating left connection right connection or if you would prefer wire one wire two. " specifically in my class I would have to declare them positive wire one and positive wire two" " in addition is a little bit frustrating that here in America we have to actually do the wiring in Reverse of the way you read the schematics so we run our conduit out and then we run our wiring from the far end back to the Breaker Box" is it good habit to get into not because new wiring would have any reason to require that because there would be no power in the breaker box however when adding additional wiring or when doing repairs to Old wiring either have to do a lockout tagout or simply not have the ground negative or positive fed into the breaker box until we're finished so that our passports inspector can immediately look at the breaker box and determine what is supposed to be ready for inspection and what is still being worked on not to mention any wires that are next to Breakers oftentimes will get hooked up by a third party and that is a mistake if there is power in there somebody is going to git zapped.
Basically what I'm saying is that your program is fine for homeowners that are attempting to wire up their own housing because you're methods are so outdated that your teaching process is bound to get somebody killed because your target audience in other countries are not students but homeowners so they will not have the benefit of a professional electrician to tell them what you did wrong.
I can appreciate that you're trying to teach how to wire things up but I wish you would do it in a logical way that would not get so killed you are a murderer because I don't even understand how your own students stay alive but it is obvious you have not actually worked with electricity for a very long time if ever!

I wish I could be more kind with my comments but this teaching program is just dangerous and I advise everybody who is going to do any wiring whatsoever to think it through very carefully and use safe practices that will not allow anybody to hook you up to live power before you are finished. Because reading a diagram is safe wiring a house or a station can kill you though and God forbid worst yet you can leave naked wires out and kill somebody else on the job site because your positive wire was already inside the breaker box and somebody hooked it up or even yet worse somebody hooked up the ground wire to live even the return the negative wire.
I say this because I have her people on the job site complaining about how the electrician was getting in the way and how they ought to hook up a wire and watching the zap himself it would be funny. Yes you can say that something could only have this year in the United States but I don't believe it because office politics happens everywhere spitefulness and revenge are also human downfalls do you always have to guard against them on the job site. If this is standard for British teachers I'm seriously starting to understand at [The Wall] teacher leave those kids alone because with this kind of an education they would be better off without you. Because they would have fewer bad habits to break before those habits broke them.
If you have any complaints or fill that I have slighted you spent one week with the electrical lineman in your neighborhood. If they don't kill you for being in the way you'll get an education that you will never forget.
